Before it was named Acura Legend, but Honda renamed it as Acura RL at a later time. No matter it is Acura Legend, Acura RL, or Honda Legend, that's still the same car; I personally prefer Honda Legend instead.

And I'm afraid a lot of people disagree on what you're saying, because Volkswagen will (again) be the biggest car manufacturer in the world for 2011. Just face it, Europe makes, has always made and will always make the best cars. It's the experience you get when INVENTING the car in general ;)

The CGI in this video is tops-and to the point of those who would dispute the qualities of any make/model remeber-it ALL boils down to personal preference; you either like it or not and everyone's opinon on the matter is irrelavant. One thing Acura (Honda) is most notible for is producing vehicles which stradle the traditonal lines of comparrison-such as comparing an BMW 5srs to an Audi A6. Pinning an RL/Legend to any of these would be like comparing apples to celery stalks.

i disagree that Honda and Acura is a joke on luxury.. For me the Honda Legend {american Acura RL and Acura Legend until 95} could and can compete against any of the German big ones... Mercedes E class , BMW 5 , Audi 6 and Jaguar S type... and also don't forget that Honda is great when it comes to engines and electronics... to me Honda Legend is a great car... but u must know cars to be able to appreciate and most people don't know. Japanese cars are better than German cars of the same price

I agree that its not a joke on luxury, but the majority of the Acura line in the bottom of the barrel for luxury. Acura entered the market 3 years before Lexus, and they still have a problem in making a mark in that segment. The Acura's from 1997-2006 were simple looking and boring, though quality levels often surpassed those of their German counterparts. Its difficult for a manufacturer to establish a luxury brand when many people realize that the parts bin for the Honda line is the same.

I agree aswell. Acura seems to be on the same league as It's sister Honda. They were never really in a luxury brand to begin with but they they've done some innovations that most of it's european counterparts are now using and if it weren't for Acura's Image, they'd be up there with the Europeans when it comes to luxury. Beats even Lexus. I think honda should start a new image with a new car company as their luxury division. It'll be easier for Honda to take on it's rivals.

Having worked for Honda/Acura for a few years, it appears that they seem pleased with Acura's position in the luxury car market. Just as many consumers equate Volvo with safety, Acura is known as the tech brand. The TSX (Euro Accord) was much sportier than many lower 3 Series BMWs and C class Benzs, but it was never marketed properly to fill that void. Honda can't start again from scratch, but I guess people can understand why Hyundai is moving slowly in creating a full out luxury brand.

Well if Nissan could get the rich guys to buy GTRs and Hyundai moving slowly creating a luxury brand than there is still hope for Honda thought it won't be easy. The 2009 legend seems to be a fitting luxury car and I like the interior a lot but it's just the Honda badge that pulls it back down and an Acura badge wont make any difference. Only a true driver would take this over any european car. I'd take it because it's advanced and less of a show off.

No doubt the Legend/TL is a nice looking car, great technology and an overall great vehicle. Acura's true marketing perspective was to become a mainstream luxury line like the Germans, but they have instead found that market of the "alternative" luxury line. I agree with you about taking it over many Euro cars in that segment....there are just too many BMW 3 series on the road!

The Acura is an understated car and so it's much more exclusive compared to the 3 series while the 3 series is the opposite which makes it more common. The BMW 3 has lost it's magic. Everyone wanted a BMW and because the BMW 3 although not cheap but affordable when it comes to normal buyers, many buy it. The 3 series is a good car in fact I'd buy it but the only thing that would put me off into buying one is because it's too common. For the same money I could buy a Jaguar X type or an Alfa 159.

Jaguar is actually british but i agree with you. Honda is at the same level as other european car companies. They are smart, safe, fast, comfortable, reliable and aesthetically pleasing, but most importantly they are developing technologies that are environmentaly friendly like the honda FCX clarity that works with hydrogen and will help save the petrol and most importantly our beloved V8 cars.

VW tried this with the Phaeton a few years back and it tanked. Nobody wanted to blow 60-70k on a VW. It was identical to the Audi A8 but quite a bit less when fully loaded. It was a very nice car, but you don't have the Audi name. Same goes for this thing. Aside from the fact that Honda has never been known for luxury (and Acura isn't really respected as "luxury" brand in the states either), the car has poor street performance. Its outrun by most competitors.

And yes, Acura is a joke of a luxury brand. They're identical to their honda counterparts (much like may of the lexus models) and they're at the bottom of the price range for luxury cars for a reason...you get what you pay for...

If you want a REAL luxury/sporty car, you buy, Maserati, BMW, Bends, for example.

Honda Legend is the kind of car that almost nobody buys in Europe and the few people who want a car like this usually buy a german model. So, yes, that is true, an honda/acura hasn't the same brand name than german brands, but exactly as you said, you get what you pay for. Expensive doesn't always mean quality and quality doesn't have to mean expensive.

You are right; most of the people in Europe would buy BMW, Mercedes or Audi, because of their (1) Respectful Brand Name , (2) an expensive HONDA LEGEND tagged in Europe around 60.000€. And (3) Resell value of HONDA LEGEND as not good as others. But here in Middle east HONDA LEGEND Tagged around 33.000€ which is cheaper than German Cars.

For Your information LEGEND implemented SH-AWD in 2005, while BMW implemented same technology in 2008 into BMW X6 as Dynamic Performance Control (xDrive)
