Lovely interview. You have lead an interesting journey and accomplished so much. You also seem like a really nice, down to earth guy. Best success to you. I love music and composing music and I cannot even imagine how amazing it must be to be able to earn a living doing what you love to do.
Greatful work , it remainds me of Michel Haumont and his CD "Ma Guitare", it seems like you have not only an awesome playing, your play is like giving the guitar a voice, it's own voice. Go on with it!
Do you play with Elixir strings or do you're using another type?
Open tuning might have been popularized in the West, but the result is now that future of acoustic guitar seems to be moving to the East. John Fahey was inspired, after all, by Persian as well as American music. Now it's come full circle and it's clear that the drone and rhythms of this stlye are perfectly suited to Eastern music.
@svengollyg I agree. It's the artist's job to find a harmonic balance between the two cultural 'sounds'. I haven't by all means perfected it but I've been aware of it and am trying to reach a workable balance between the two.
@svengollyg Agreed! Im surprised that not many people have taken advantage of the guitars potential in this topic. Its possible to emulate the middle eastern sounds with the guitar but just have to take the time to learn the articulations of their scales and such. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
brilliant man.. just brilliant, glad to see that some people are appreciating you and that you seem to be getting the chance to make something of this!

@koushymama No worries, I appreciate your honesty. I've never seen that album cover before but it looks cool! I don't think my cover has too much resemblance to that cover art though.

Great to hear some of your history. It is to our benefit (the music), that you have gone through the trials that you and your family have experienced...BTW What do you feel is the difference between your Cole Clark and your Taylor? Does the Cole Clark have a balanced sound like the Expression system?
@GodFamilyandGuitars the cole clark pickup system beats the trebley expression system as it has way more control to balance the frequencies. It is great for percussive styles since there is a long metal plate on the guitar top that picks up all the acoustic sounds naturally. Cant beat it!
Hey Maneli, Congrats on your success brother and good luck to you. I am sorry that you were not allowed to stay in the U.S.A. Any country would be lucky to have you as a citizen. Take care brother.
i always love your music, i try and show u to all my friends but most of the kids i know dont realize the genius of your music and how amazing the sound is.. keep rockin man!
Maneli.. This is so cool to see you playing in the beginning with full camera and stage. Just incredible sound and of course Lucid Drawl is amazing. So cool also to see the interview and hear you talk (when not translated over)... and really sweet for the Ziur mention, your gal must be something very special.. Loved watching this Maneli. Congrats on getting the recognition that you truly deserve. Emily
Hey Maneli, this guy really is pain in the bottom, he did not let you speak for more than 10 sexonds, as if he had a time shedule to meet. Anyway, you managed to get your Lucid Drawl through. On another note, it is interesting to know that your 6-7 months "forced" guitar practice at home while waiting for immigration papers in Canada refined and deepened the quality of your music. I am really proud to be your friend and fan at this point in time. Success is the word for you!

Endless Stars and Best wishes, thats only I can give you
Lucid Drawl gave me goosebumps. The meshing of English and American folk guitar, with the Persian melodic minor scales and sounds was amazing.
On a side note, possibly the strangest interview I've ever seen: interviewee answering in English, overdubbed in Farsi, and translated back into English subtitles.
@boswell255 I've seen that before. Someone answering to the reporter in french. which was dubbed in English as it was on an English TV channel. But the whole episode/segment was then subbed in french for the french TV channel.
So happy to see you getting this attention, Maneli. I honestly think you could easily stand alongside the greats like Andy Mckee and Don Ross, especially since you have such a uniqe style and original melodies! I love how every time you play your songs it's a new interpretation :] Keep it up man!
