One of my 80s favorites! But I couldn't remember the name for the life of me (and apparently it's not so popular as other ones). I had to google "cartoon girl horse portal" to find it^^
What to say about this show: I don't intend to mock it being I never sat down and watched an episode but I would have to say, the artwork and music were fitting but I cannot wrap my head around the death of who I can assume to be the mother in the first few seconds of the series, it totally came out of left field. I mean I understand it's to tell the story but if I remember right usually we get that kind of thing off screen or at most a flash back later in a series back in the 80's
AND I WILL NEVER FORGET THIS ONE!!! It's completely AMAZING. So sad that only 13 episodes were created! But still is one of the best. Btw, I love love love love it!!!
I watched a lot of cartoons and i don't remember this one at all! It looks like the kind of thing i would have watched. did this play in the SE part of the US? I never saw this...ever.
@Oreo9702 It aired in 1986. A lot of kids weren't paying attention to that station until another couple years when they got a larger lineup of cartoons.
Nice! I should have checked here sooner. I have been hoping to find this on DVD, and I've been checking everywhere. I'm not sure why I never thought to check YouTube (duh, self!) I grew up watching this cartoon. What little girl hasn't fantasized about having her own horse? Or being a princess? Fantasy stories have always been my favorite. I loved this cartoon and I've always had Wildfire in my memories since. This brings me back. Thanks for posting! :)
@Stormchild77 Okay, no, yo don't. Just go to the section "LINKS PARA DESCARGAR LA SERIE" and click on any ep, wait some 45 seconds (do NOT click premium download), and once the counter gets to zero, a free download link will appear. Megaupload's always been like that. Oh, and you have to allow Javascript, or the timer won't appear, and all you'll see will be the premium download link.
Maaan, I remember watching this as a teenager. I loved it not just because it was a fantasy but also because Peter S. Beagle (The Last Unicorn) was listed as creative consultant, AND the fact that John Vernon, René Auberjonois, Billy Barty, and Jessica Walter were in the cast.
The thing is, I think today this series would have done better because people are more likely to be drawn to an on-going storyline versus self-contained episodes than they were x number of years ago.
I remember this series. The airdate is given as 1986 - but I remember watching this as late as 1988 or 1989 down south. Perhaps a CBS affiliate used this as filler.
I wish I was there and knew how to swing a sword well. I would definietly challenge that witch to a sword fight and change history. That aunt is resposible for the Queen's death and should be punished.
@ranka35 If there was a remake, hopefully CBS keeps their animation department's and writers' hands off of it. Every cartoon they show now on Kewlopolis, including some 80's remakes, is terrible.
@ranka35 If they do a remake it will probably some live action big budget movie with Sara either played by Taylor Swift or either Aly or AJ or ugh Miley Cyrus.
@ranka35 It was canceled because no one watched it, I grew up on the 80's on a weekly intake of sat morning cartoons. I did not remember this toon, i did not know it existed until I saw this vid on youtube.
HOLY CRAP I have not seen this in, what, 25 years. I always remembered the lyrics to the intro, though, buried in the mists of my memory. Thanks so much for posting!!! But having said that what is that UGLY-ASS ALIEN @ 0:06 acting as some creepy midwife?!?!? I would have security kick out that hideous troll if I was in labour!!!
I would love to se this cartoon again. If it comes out on dvd iam definietly buying it. BTW I wish they had fininshed this toon with the princess confronting and battling her aunt who was resposible for the death of her mother.
I don't remember this caroon either, but the plot 2 it, where u have a princess taken 2 another world, then grows up 2 fight evil, reminds me of the plot 2 She-Ra
Sigh. I loved this show, but it came on at like 5:30 in the morning where I live, so I hardly ever woke up early enough to watch it. Theme song still makes me tear up.
Wow this is one cartoon i actually don't remember ever seeing but it looks good! I love to watch toons from this era when they actually had a meaning and taught kids good things. Todays, cartoons are meaningless and stupid.
@Rhiorrha I don't mind stories with morals, but you're right. Too preachy can be annoying. I don't remember this cartoon at all though, so not sure what it's like.
I like stories that can fit together and follow a timeline. The randomness of today's cartoons can be dull. I also get annoyed with some of today's vocals. The talent almost sound like they are trying too hard and can't get a complete character. I also miss the "realistic" style of the 80's, rather than everything being Americanime
my sister loved this show and the only reason i remember it is because of how much she talked about it. I was only seven when i saw it and it was pretty cool then. Women have a good sense of drama with animals. ; )
im a guy and id fuck you up johnbourbon... funny thig is i used to watch this when i was like 5 now i get mad pussy and i think other guys watched it too bitch
Once upon a dream I think I lived inside a fairytale where someone brave was lost, where some dark void was crossed and I was tossed in my sleep And did I see a magic horse called Wildfire or was that the dream? Wildfire, Wildfire Deep within my mind So tell my what I'd find, or what I might become if I could go where the dreams come from If I could go where the dreams come from Wildfire...Wildfire...Wildfire

OMG I used to watch this as a kid and at noon switch the channel to Commander USA. Loved Wildfire, I remembered how I begged my parents to buy a horse b/c of this show.
THANK YOU for posting this!! It looks like I'm not the only one who had this song stuck in their head for like 20 years! It aways made me sad, and ashamed to admit just watched it now and got choked up. LOL When i was a kid I had a locket and I would pretend to be the Princess. :P Wish they would release this on DVD!!!
The person who wrote the theme song did an excellent job, as I have read several comments about how other people also had this theme song in their heads all these years.
WOW... I've been looking all over for even a shred of this cartoon!!! I knew I wasn't nuts! I remember watching "Wildfire" as a kid. My Nana had all these rerto toons taped on VHS for me back in the day...so many fond memories. Thanks for posting, even if it is just the intro. ^_^
It only spanned 13 episodes, so there was really no 'end' - Princess Sara and Wildfire, Dorin and Brutus, with aid from Alvinar, continue to battle Diabolyn and the Spectres.
I used to watch this show all the time! The theme song really stuck in my head, it was so sad! Over twenty years later, it still makes me want to cry :). Wasn't the Princess's name Sarah?
Same here! For whatever reason I could remember everything except 'where some dark void was crossed.' Other than that, I could remember this song for all these years! :) And yes, the blonde, the princess, is Sara(h).
Thank you so much! I remember watching this when I was like five or six. Then as a teenager I mentioned it and everyone seriously thought I had drempt it or hallucinated it or something. Even an older cousin I'm sure I watched it with didn't remember it.
You know when I first got on the internet it wasn't even mentioned on the internet?
i was born in 86 but i still remember this show. my father used to recorded it for me :) does anyone know the name of the song played during the intro?
Wow. I Remember Watching This Cartoon Every Saturday On The Farm In Canton, South Dakota. I Used To Parked Myself In Front Of The Tv And Started Watching This Show And Some Other Cartoon Shows Too. Now If Only Someone Would Put Any Cartoon Episodes Of, "Ripley's Believe It or Not", I Wouldn't Mind Seening That Cartoon Show Again.
Wildfire is an animated series produced by Hanna-Barbera in 1986. The series followed the adventures of Sara, a 13-year-old girl growing up in the American West, as she discovers her true identity as a princess in hiding from another realm. The show aired on CBS for one 13-episode season from September 13 to December 6, 1986.
Dude. Thank you. I have had this song stuck in my head since I was like seven, and to this day I still know all the lyrics. Funny what sticks in one's head as the years go by.
Wow. I Remember this show. I Used To Watch This Show Every Saturday Morning In Canton, South Dakota. Ah Memories. I Wish that someone would put some episode clips of this show on here. I would like to see it again.
Wow, brings back memories. I have searched for this show on video for some time and never found it. I really think they should release most of the 80's cartoons on vhs/dvds, there were so many great ones! But this was and still is one of my favorites! Bring it back to tv at least!!! :)
Loved this show when I was a kid. Unfortunately, it came on at 5:30am where I lived, so I almost never woke up in time to see it. I think I managed to see less than a half dozen episodes.
This is still one of my favorite cartoons of all time. It's so sad that the so called cartoons made today just can't live up to the cartoons from the 1980's, when people actually made cartoons without the aid of a computer. So many memories that I can find here.
OMG!!! I LOVED THAT SHOW!!!!! And Dungeons and Dragons!!! I have tried to find this on dvd or vhs but have had no luck. I DID however find Dungeons and Dragons series on collectable DVD. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I used to LOVE this show! This was the first cartoon I'd wake up to watch on Saturday mornings... at 7am. Next was Muppet Babies! Hard to believe that was 21 years ago....
this used to be( and is still) one of the best cartoons i watched. ranked up there with the paw paw bears and yogi treasure hunt. man....those were the days!
The evil witch known as Lady Diabolyn feels Queen of Dar-Shan is her rightful title. She is a stepsister to Queen Sarana, whom she always considered weak and unfit to rule. When she was just a baby, Princess Sara was saved from the clutches of Diabolyn by a mystic talking horse named Wildfire, who took her away from the planet Dar-Shan and deposited her in Montana. But though Wildfire won this battle, Diabolyn had won the war, and she now reigns over the princess' homeworld.
I'm a guy is this nearly brought a tear to my eye. It was a manly tear though!

Dude. Thank you. I have had this song stuck in my head since I was like seven, and to this day I still know all the lyrics. Funny what sticks in one's head as the years go by.
