Wait a minute, who did this Originally, Sam Cooke? Or was it someone else? I dunno, this version sounds "hollow", empty of any "soul" or "emotion". Sorry.
I am turning 13 soon, and I remember my mom playing his songs all the time when I was little. Last night I put this on and my grandma and I started dancing around the kitchen while singing this. Dr. Hook is amazing! (:
i was a mere child of 16 when i first heard this song, it has only been a year coz im 17 now and it reminds me of my dad and how much growing up ive had to do in the last year, <3<3<3
@szopq I get where your coming from and on some level I agree. I love this song and most of Dr. Hook's other music including "Get My Rocks Off", which is a pretty vulgar song.
If you're only listening to Alejandro and not watching the music video it's really not that bad.
I remember as a young boy growing up, my mum would play the doctor hook greatest hits album and this was one of the many brilliant songs on it. I always knew it was the weekend when this song would come on. Brilliant!
My opinion, Dennis Locorriere's unique voice and talent is second to none, and that includes Elvis and Sinatra. Please spend some time listening to him on YouTube, and you will see what I am saying. I'm not talking about charisma or his stage presence or name recognition. But his beautiful voice and delivery. Dennis never misses a word or a note. Perfection.

Great voice. Don't send fan mail. I did, and Den's answer was very rude. Made me want to cry to realize that the spirit of the person didn’t match the lovely voice. I can only guess that the reason he lives in the U.K. is because he has alienated the whole North American continent. It is a pity; with his talent, he should be on top of the charts. My respect for the rest of the band went up about 100 notches, since they had to tolerate him for 15 years.
ok so im only 15 now but this music has been part of my life for as long as i can remember honestly i love dr.hook and most of the old music (lots WAY older than this) call me crazy but this stuff actually has meaning behind it unlike the pop music of today's society.
I grew up to this music when my mum used to clean the house this was always her choice of music lol, fantastic band! love pretty much all of their songs! Clearly i was born in the wrong eara of good music!
In 1980 I was 17 going on 18 when I was in love with a girl in high school was 16 . It was true she was too young to fall in love and I was too young to know !
