  • this guy is incredible, i would like to hear more from him.

  • At the end of this interview, Rabbi G says his "greatest success" ( he hopes) is to get people to love being Jewish. He presents a religion that is dynamic, open-minded, generous, and spiritual but in keeping with science. In doing so, he has succeeded with me!

  • Kaplan's theology (an enhanced naturalism) is a rescue breath for dying religions worldwide. Only time will tell if it's too late.

  • Nice guy, good points about Israel, but he has no portion in the world to come for his denial that the Torah coming from God (Mishneh Torah, Hillchos Teshuvah 6:3)

  • Rabbi Goldsmith (and his holy wife) were always kind to me whenever I prayed in their shul. While I do not agree with many of his views (as some are in conflict with the Torah itself). In the end, this is a man who has provided a place for many to pray, in particular, those whom are intermarried and might not be made to feel welcome elsewhere. He will be rewarded after 120 years for that one!

  • G-d is not an idea of people. People are an idea of G-d. All people are equal in the sight of G-d; Closeness was a choice by Jews to take on the mission of Torah. G-d gave the Jews a land and a mission because they chose to accept Torah. Other people have different lands and different missions.

  • Smart kid.

  • This is a wise man. This shows that not all jewish people are zionist fundamentalist. I hope more people of all religions are following this example of Rabbi Goldsmith...

  • How cute, really.

To be honest, most of what the rabbi has said is taught in the Islamic belief too. Thanks for posting this up.

  • Reconstructionism is getting bigger every day.

  • There are many sects of Judaism, as there are in Christianity. The only reason it's not as apparent is because the Jews tend not to dress differently. How foolish it is to assert an altering of ancient orthodoxy to appeal to modern society - that is saying we are almost entirely better off now than we were 2000 years ago, which I absolutely reject. This is a lukewarm Judaism, not much unlike the lukewarm Christianity of Revelation 3:14. God have mercy.

  • wow, this rabbi seems like a really geniuine and nie person...the first rabbi i have seen that acknowledges mistakes....really articulate as well

  • Ameen!!! I wish more Jews wer like this Guy, unlike those deranged Jews who say God gave us this land. Zionist terrorists like the Stern Gang and etc... took the Palestine land away. When the Israelis give the Palestines their dignity, human rights and their own state. A jew and an arab can live in peace in Happiness in the Holy land just like they did for hundreds of years.

  • (the Israelis have never stood in the way of a Palestinian state. From 1948 till 1967 all it would have taken was a pen stroke by Jordan, but none of the surrounding arab countries actually give a crap about the Palestinian people beyond exploiting them for their own good. If only they did, we would have a Palestinian state now.

  • My word for nature is nature, not God.

  • That really misses the point. If you wish to understand more, there is a great book called "Religion Is Not About God" by Loyal D. Rue.
