  • The ZR1 and Z06 cheat at the ring. They use super slicks which are an optional buy for owners track days. The GTR`s time was set on road legal tyres in the semi wet. On the Top Gear track ( slicks banned ) the GTR time is 1min 17.8. The ZR1 time is 1min 20.4 ( a whopping 17 places below the GTR ) The Z06 time is 1min 22.4 ( a staggering 27 places down from the GTR. With all 3 on road legals the GTR distroys both Vettes and is an amazing 500 lb heavier and 153 bhp less than the ZR1. GTR is king

The corvette's got inspected by track officials, and ran within the times that were originally recorded, proving they didn't cheat. But guess what! Nissan refused to officially re-run the GTR. Weird huh? And topgear is extremely anti-American, they even had the TVR and R8 beat the ZR1, which is 100% bull crap.

    The obvious variable that should be looked at is the driver.

    If all the cars were verified equal in all variables, and were all driven by the same driver, that would be standardization, right?

    That would require our driver to be 100% consistent at all times, even after we yank him out of one car and shove him into the next one.

  • I will take the ZR1 over the gtr. Its a better pure car - that stomps the new porsche twin turbo go look up Andy Bell on the track in these two cars and he loves the zr1. Also, I heard the ls7(Z06) is a better motor, and the suspension on the zr1 and carbon brakes is much better. I say - z06 invest the difference(40k) into the z06 with brakes and supercharger, a few cg lowering mods and suspension upgrade - you have a much better car for the same price. Gtr is pretty ugly by the way

  • Its easy to criticize and make fun of 8000HP 300mph race cars when you clearly lack the balls to even get in one. Drag racing is just a simpler form of racing. It take tremendous skill and gall to keep 8000HP straight and if you doubt that fact go ahead and hop in one.

    This of course dose not diminish other forms of racing, but to get up there in front of a camera and criticize something you're too afraid to even attempt yourself is cowardly.

  • The Ring should be a Benchmark and Sabine Schmitz and Tim Schrick should be the drivers. Both of them in identical cars with an offset of 30 seconds. And the average should be the first of the relevant times. The second average should be a "wet" lap, if possible. That'd be more significant than "some" car with racing tyres and racing fuel and (therefor) optimized CCU ...

An when you watch the video the ZR1 has alot of understeering problems while doing the lap and most of the other cars that got better times were damn near flawless like the Enzo or the GT2 RS or the Maserati and Gumpert. Its not easy to get a 7:18 let alone a 7:26 and many super cars even the CCX failed and only got a 7:32

The GTR weighs 600lbs more and has a 150 hp disadvantage an ties up the 110k ZR1.An with 15k of upgrades on that GTR you're doing things like this. Bugatti vs Nissan GT-R 35

An stock for stock they run damn near comparable numbers the ZR1 runs 5 tenths of a second faster in the quatermile 11.3 vs GTR 11.8. Stock they both do 0-60 in 3.2 and the GTR is 600 pounds heavier with a back seat and 30k less and this is stock for stock

How do you not see the advantage here of buying a GTR over a ZR1. 110k gets you a car that can barely beat out a stock GTR stock. I add 15k to the GTR i'm beating Bugatti Veyrons an im still cheaper then you by 15k under the stock price of a ZR1

I could show you videos of a modded Challenger vs a GT-R with light mods getting beaten/neck-to-neck for a fraction of the price and that's not even CLOSE to the same class. People would compare a GT-R to a ZR1 and vice-versa but not a Challenger to a GT-R and still, mod the Challenger up and it'll beat the GT-R. Mod any car and you can beat something more expensive, the question is, do you want to drive an ugly box or a badass 'Vette.

The Vette has looked the same for the past 20 years only recently getting rid of those ugly flip up headlights and copying a more Ferrari front end look. An i'm going stock for stock and so far you haven't showed me anything by the numbers that shows why someone would buy a ZR1. Both 0-60mph is 3.2.   • @ToXiN06 First of all stock for stock the ZR1 fails to clearly beat out the ZR1. I only threw the mod thing in because with the extra 30k you save on not purschasing a ZR1 you can throw 15k into a GTR and have a 1000hp super car that can out run a Bugatti Veyron. In the ZR1 even though yeah any car can be modded to beat any car but for the price why would i pay 110k for a ZR1 with 600hp and turn around to mod it up as a supercar which is going to cost me at least 15k or more. GTR 95k total

  • @2ndtonone1000 I get where you're going with the modding factor, but when you're buying cars this expensive, it's not about their 'potential' it's about how they come, they're already suppose to be 'supercars'. A GTR and a ZR1 are only neck and neck until like 80MPH, after that the ZR-1 is gone. It does 0-100 1.5s fast than the GTR and that .5s in a 1/4 trap is a lot, at 120 which is what the GTR trapped, that's 88 feet in that .5s that the ZR-1 is ahead...that's nearly the ZR1s 60-0 stop

  • @ToXiN06 I had an old R 33 when i lived in Japan and that thing was unbelieveable. Now it was a pain in the ass to work on because you had no space what so ever but the reward was when you got everything in place and tuned it up and it didn't disappoint. I had my doubts like alot of people and never thought much of tuner cars or japanese cars period except for the bikes. But now i'm a true believer and tuner cars have unbelieveable potential.

  • @ToXiN06 thats fine but if you ever do you won't be disappointed. I think the Japs are better with force induction engines then alot of car companies. Damn near everything or ever vehicle in Japan is force inducted. I don't expect a Japanese company to be good at makinga big block naturally aspirated engine because thats not their fortay. Just like i don't see american car companies being able to make tuner cars like the Japs although they do make kick ass turbo diesel engine trucks.

  • @2ndtonone1000 When a vehicle is designed for tops speeds of 205 and 195, it's more than just a turn, it's about speed on those straights and on any straight, that ZR1 is gone and on the turns, it's right on-par with that car. Personally, I wouldn't mind spending that extra money if I was going to buy a GTR or ZR1, just because I don't like the GTR bodies, they look like they sat in water too long and expanded in my opinion.

  • @ToXiN06 Well taking out the factor you don't like the body of the GTR thats fine. But the performance numbers don't lie. An whatever little advantage the ZR1 has to beat it out its suppose to because it cost over 30k more in base price. But the GTR and ZR1 is a super car but the GTR is a tuner car pure and simple. If you owned both cars believe me you'd be more into the GTR then the ZR1 because everytime you put something on that GTR its going to shock the shit out of you with performance.

  • @ToXiN06 All i'm saying is stock for stock the ZR1 barely beats out the GTR on paper and i do mean barely an thats a car with twice the displacement with a supercharger with 100hp and 100ft lbs of torque advantage stock for 110k. Now all i'm saying is with 95k not only can i but a GTR for around 79k put 15k of upgrades and lets say out the door with tax on the base price i'm at 98k fully modified 800 to 1000hp GTR. For 110k you're stock with a 638hp car thats not modified.

  • @ToXiN06 The whole point to my arguement is that the GTR for the price is the better deal because not only does it has comparable numbers to a stock ZR1 that you payed 110k for. But for 30k you save from not buying a ZR1 you have only 15k to put into that GTR to turn into a total beast which stock it already is already and you have a back seat to boot. Why else do you think the GTR got Motor Trend car of the year for 2009.

  • @ToXiN06 the GTR is a tuners car so you're not going to buy it and leave it stock unless you're not going to be doing anything with it except coming and going. But most people that buy this car know of the unlocked potential and how god damn amazing this car is when you put upgrades on it. People don't know alot about the GTR but do a bit of research and there is a reason they call it Godzilla and the nemisis to the old MKIV supra. Just look at the Moscow Unlimited Videos of the GTR Switzer 800

  • @2ndtonone1000 Nah, I never said it didn't have potential, little Jap cars have always been ridiculous when it comes to potential, but even though you'll be forking out an extra 25 or so for that ZR1, if you invested into the ZR1 what you'd invest in a GTR it'd still be a completely different vehicle. But when it comes to these "supercars" now-a-days, it's all about preference, they're all so close it's just what you want to look at when you're sitting in it or looking in your garage.
