He doesn't switch to the Fulton for a second lead tone (he's probably using that for his gritty rhythm). You can see at 2.51 he goes to the marshall for feedback. He kicked in a second gain stage - the AC Booster of something similar. What you're hearing is the added compression of that extra gain stage.
did you hear that dude? eric, on this video has like two lead tones. wen he first starts playing, he has that bloom tone, which is good but its coming from his 50 watt marshall stack then at around 1:57 he switches to that amp that fulton-webb made for him and its 100 watts i think, and it sounds so much more rounded and like his tone from "tones" cd. he's the man!! so clean to. that 100 watt sounds killer man.
Hey, I heard that Eric wanted that Fulton-Webb spec'd as close to his old Dumble SSS and thats why he has that Cool older tone he use to have like when he appeared in 1984 on ACL. I hope he keeps it as a staple in his rig.
Have you gotten the new Anaheim DVD?? Man!! its awesome!! his new tune Rocktopus is killer!!

It could be Eric's Tinnitus acting up.
So sad to see Eric afflicted with this ear problem.
