  • The cutest pirate ever.

  • 4 fucking people

  • the beginning remembers me "falling slowly" of Glen Hansard...

  • really love her

  • she looks high but lovely. =)

  • Lovely.

  • marry me!

  • I know this is just a music video, but between her wonderful music, her videos and the interviews I've seen - Lisa Hannigan seem to have created a really wonderful, authentic life for herself!

  • OH MAN I REALLY WANT A BANJO

  • love this girl! beautiful music

  • Irish hippies rock. That is all.

  • Yup. I am officially convinced that girls like this do not actually exist in this reality. It's just not possible. I think I might continue sleeping.

  • @Laviedusurrealisme They do. I've met them. She is impossibly gorgeous, and she really does exist.

  • I found waldo...jk.... I wish I could leave the country and move to Europe to find a woman like this, but alas my ankle bracelet wont allow me out of the yard.

  • she s sweet, lovely song...wish she s be more popular..cause she deserves to be appreciated..i enjoy her originality and positiveness...she always makes me smile:)

  • It's just that ... something's missin. It's Damien. I could cry. I don't think that she "moved on without him", like so many people say. I don't think so. I miss you two, I think ... almost everybody that ever heard 9 Crimes misses you two - together.

  • @dinosaurierohrwaschi Atleast her music makes you feel happy and content. Though I like Damien rice's stuff, all of it is so depressing. Have you listened to rootless tree?

  • @lozzybozzy234 Of course, I have, why?

Yeah, you're right ... Damien's songs are kinda depressing, but aren't those the "deeper" feelings?

  • This drummer makes me want to pick up a set of brushes and just hunt down a myriad of sound.

  • I wish that dude would jam a Harmon mute in that horn, so he doesn't over power everything else, which is really rather enchanting

  • @Mojochi i guess.. but it's also the friends jam feel.. the "playing whatever you have in your hand" thing.. more natural, which creates another kind of magic

  • Pure Talent! :)

    x

  • the band are great!

  • It's as if this video was taken from one of my sweetest dreams. I can't stop watching it :)

  • american guy! i was just talking to you on omegle and the internet cut off, really want to talk more about music. please message me if you see this

  • If she turns to pop like Jewel did, I will personally hunt her down and punch her square in the nose.

  • really, really, really good... great idea for video... so real and yet surreal

  • can ANYone tell me her drummer's name? he seems to be SO talented!

  • It's very easy to fall in love with her

  • i loved her music with damien rice but how refreshing is her solo music couldn't rate sea sew any higher

  • wow, he's playing the glasses and lamp. this is amazing.

  • i love lisa hannigan and rachael yamagata and ingrid michaelson and meiko they all kinda remind me of each other lol

  • God I love my little pirate.

  • on my birthday... wish i had been there!

  • Aw, she plays the banjo. :D

  • hipsters

  • I've been to Barrow beach! Beautiful place!

    Lisa is an angel!

  • Honestly I'm at the point where I'm beginning to like singer-songwriter stuff more than jazz, just because of it's singularity- as opposed to originality. Jazz is ripe with originality, but most jazz songs are original for the same reason- it's all improvisation- while highly organized and tactical improvisation- I just find the simple, yet elegant weirdness of a lot of folk, independent, or 'difficult-to-classify' music a bit more appealing then the super-impressive, but esoteric world of jazz.

  • Gotta love Lisa. Fucking amazing voice.

  • i love lisa hannigan

  • does anyone know were I can get the banjo sheet music for this song? thanks :)

  • If you just want the banjo part, transcribe it. There's not a whole lot to it, so it shouldn't take too long.

  • Beautiful and authentic...And cozy

  • just saw her at a really cosy little venue at hebden bridge, was amazing. She did an incredible version of personal jesus.

  • I love this song, so I keep coming back to it and wouldn't you know it...spoted something new! at 2:41 behind the trumpeters shoulder, the little blonde girl from the "I don't know" vid. the little cutie pie! :D

  • Was this written before or after 'Falling Slowly', the Oscar winning song?

    Just sounds so like it.

  • nice Lisa.

  • Bloody amazing! I LOVE LISA!! xx

  • U are Magic :-))))

  • Happiness.........Oh yes it is.......gun!!!

  • love the way she has the banjo sound like a glockenspiel

  • RIP MIC

  • I love my little pirate/gipsie singer!

  • u should do a nick drake song that would make a perfect match

    aloha

  • definitely- I vote for "From the Morning"!!

  • i guess any song will do but from the morning sounds great lol

  • jun7per you don't know anything about good music, go listen katy perry, that's what your ears deserve LOSER!

  • No, just your musical taste is very weak.

No wonder everyone, Jun7per, berries your comment.

  • good video and pretty nice song.. !! i love lisa hannigan !!

  • nice! good musicians! :)

  • really pretty song! great video

  • cool she let her hair down

  • that's skill

  • just like your ma

  • what a pity that you dont sing with damien anymore...but doesnt matter, you are a great great singer....go on

  • There is something about her voice that is so soothing. And I love her songs. They take me far away from all the troubles of the day.

  • any burd that plays the banjo gets the thumbs up from me! :D

  • damien fucked up. i love him. or loved him. i now realize that lisa and her beautiful, angelic voice is one of the main reasons why i liked him so much. think about it. take her out of the picture, and songs like "the blower's daughter" just wouldn't exists. lisa, you're beautiful, i wish you the best. come to L.A. and i'll go see you in a heartbeat.

  • Could not agree more. Damiens songs without lisa are just mediocre.

  • Yeah, she added a lot, and I think we all took her for granted. That said, they're both fantastic on their own. Both great songwriters and performers.

  • I just wonder, does he always carry those drumsticks around? Lol

  • Well, he's a musician. I'm going to go out on a limb here a say yes.

  • her drummer always uses the cutest stuff to get a beat.

  • the music is beautiful, and most of the lyrics I don't really care about becuase her voice is just another instument.

there is an exception though. I am completely in love with the very last bit of lyric.

    "She's breakin' she's mendin'

    she's fallin' she's fallin'

    she's breakin' she's mendin

    she's mendin' she shines"

  • The dear kind of home-singing lull a bye voice with a simple smile that you wont find in any concert hall..She loves what she's doing, and she's doing it with humour and love so...where's the prob???

  • From your resident "music nazi" - amen to that, brother.

  • wow amazing.

  • i hope these videos are released on dvd

  • Comment removed

  • Lisa Hannigan is the embodiment of pretention - if you want an example look no further than at the lyrics to this song -

    "Have your coffee, splishy splashy

    Frozen up the stairs.

    Hollow but so normal

When she needs a piece of care."

    - lazy and non sensical semantics, this 'artist' is riding along on the much bloated irish singer songwriter scene where wearing hemp clothing and spouting on about fair trade is enough to sustain a career in the music industry it seems.

  • I'm sorry my use of the term 'wench' offends you so much, media whore, wagon, bint are all equally fine with me though so take your pick

As for watching this video - part of the joy of youtube is stumbling across different musical genres no? - surely we're entitled to comment on the ones we don't like as much as the ones we do - its music nazi's like yourself who make this website so devoid of debate

  • grea tvoice though....

  • Wait... surely by asking you to give an example, I was encouraging a debate?

And do you not think that having a career in music might have something to do with, say, being able to sing..?

  • Fair point, but I don't think she is trying to be like Damien Rice, more like the opposite in fact. Damien Rice's lyrics are obviously confessional, gritty, honest and personal, whereas Lisa Hannigan's are (to me, anyway) more dreamy, poetic and reflective. In my opinion, there is room for both, and one isn't necessarily "better" than the other.

  • dangloverenator, this is true. She is not trying to be Damien, otherwise they would still be performing together.

IMO, Damien's music is extremely masculine, heartfelt, and passionate (you perceptively used the term gritty).

However, Lisa's music is very feminine, sensitive, and graceful in a way Damien just isn't. So cheers to them both, but if I had the choice who to see live I think I'd pick Lisa. Her music is more whimsical, even in the sadder songs.

  • That's exactly what I was meaning, but better phrased. Cheers =D

  • i think she has a niche of her own to be honest. Rice has his own scene. its very refreshing to hear her out of damien's context. she was getting frustrated with how it was going so she left. her lyrics are her own and they suit the dreamy and laid back style of her music, why do they have to be serious and 'honest' like rice's to be successful as an irish singer songwriter? ive seen worse lyrics go much further than lisa. which is sad. those artists deserve your comments more i feel :)

  • She didn't leave Damien Rice he fired her.... Anyway with recession in full force in Ireland we can only hope it will give rise to new movements within the Irish music scene that will finally break the vice grip the singer song writer scene has had for the last 10 years.... we get it Lisa you're 'kooky', everybody should read the wikipedia page on this mong - however inaccurate, its clear she epitomises that tired bohemian bourgeois aesthetic peddled by this genre

  • so what are you? a damien rice adorer, a person who just wants mediocre thrown at him all the time, or someone who just has no ear for music? its people like you that supress talent. iots bad enough that all the record labels are pretty much the same company. original music is already being scourged, this stuff is better than NME anyway

  • Are you Lisa Hannigan?

  • Ad hominem attacks like that spoodgey only serve to render your opinions here meaningless, and also reveal far more about your mindset than anything you try, and fail, to misinform us about anyone else.

  • Fine Ken - character assassinations aside, I still find Hannigan's music lazy and cliched - that is simply an opinion and is as valid as anybody else's on here. I'm absolutely fascinated however, as to what insight you've gleaned on my mindset from the few comments I've thrown up here.

  • Well spoodgey, I guess I'll just have to let you remain 'absolutely fascinated' while you try to figure out what has been established about your mindset from the comments that you've 'thrown up' here so far.

Please use a sick bag before you throw up your next comment.

  • she's fresh and she's nice. what do you know about her to call her pretentious? and as for your comments on singer song writers, would you rather have the same old studio produced shite that lacks originality and targets a squealing teenage girl audience or a little bit of new nice and genuinely talented? id choose lisa over beyonce or lady gaga anytime.

  • well said

  • couldnt agree more! =]

  • You said it lofty25, no truer comment.

  • @lofty25 That is some absolute truth right there.

  • this band its just a simple band, regular musicians with a great talent...creativity..and together they just make something really amazing....... and that voice...unbelivable. Los felicito...quede enamorado de Lisa es simplemente hermosa.

  • Maaaaan I love this band. I must confess that I was worried when I heard about the split with Damien, but I got the album yesterday and I was/am entranced! Just incredible. Seriously, everyone who reads this, BUY the album!!

  • gypsies! i likey.

  • that set up and lighting is too cool. she is unbelievable!

  • oh...how I´d love to be there...

  • she´s unveliebable.

  • amazing. what age is she???

  • 28. lrn2wiki

  • I think she's 28 - just the age i'd like to be.

  • This looks like my hangout in Tampa Fl. (Skipper's) I hope you might make it this way sometime. Your music is amazing and your whole band give off a great vibe! Hope you are all doing well!

  • Colbert Bump.

This is proof his word is gold.

  • Colbert Bump!

  • i would love for you guys to come play at our bar/restaurant sometime comment back!

  • kinda reminds me of a folk styled norah jones

  • man, they are fantastic. if I could be in a band, I'd make music like that. Hey, any way I could do a collaboration/duet with you guys? :D

  • It's difficult to see, but does anyone know what that instrument is that the trumpet player plays at around a minute? It looks like a keyboard, but he blows into it.

  • Its a "melodica". Hohner in Germany build this kind of instuments.

  • pianica.

    or something like it.

  • I am looking for it, and I do not see what you are talking about, but it sounds to me like you are describing a Melodica.

  • never seen an angel play a banjo before..now I have :)

  • This is wonderful. you guys are my favorite band.

  • realy great (i dont know) the lads did well to

  • realy great. (i dont know) and the lads did well allso

  • thank you for your realistic attitude

  • Mmmmmmmmm soothing....

  • beautiful woman.

  • gypsy magic woman

  • My heart is gonna explode....

What a song, what a voice, what a band, what a creativity....

    Its so beautiful.....

  • lisa's lilting lullaby

  • There's something missing...I like her voice but yeah, maybe her voice is hidden or the balance isn't there between her voice and the instruments. This song was too repetitive and annoying to me...I like "I Don't Know" though.

  • It's so amazing the atmosphere you people create when you play... You're amazing... I admire you.

I have nothing to say of the way you play music, it's perfect. Great musicians all of you.

And Lisa's voice it's close to perfection, so soft and relaxing... I just love it.

Greetings from Chile, the chili-shaped country :)

  • @fdo060988 That reminds me of a time when i was doing nice prearranged harmonies on my guitar to a song,,,And the replacement Bassist asked me if i woulgn't mind just playin the chords...Irealised then that some people just don't hear

  • Lisa & Co. another great video. It's so impressive. Love to see Lisa react to the music and lyrics. Breathtaking.

  • You folks really put a lot of thought into your videos. Wow! you all are amazing. Please put more videos on You Tube soon.

  • Good times.

  • I'm in awe, beautiful, magical gypsy lady.

  • this is good magic

  • I've got to have more XYLOPHONE! COME ON!

  • No xylophone, he was hitting glasses and whatever on the table like Beck did a few years back with his band sitting at a table.

  • her and maggie gylenhal look alike

  • i would love to hear her with joshua radin. she's got a phenominal sound.

  • Lost Lisa in this song too.. she has too great a voice to continue to hide her within the music.

  • beautiful
