im sorry but I beg to differ - this is not a long and heavy take-off. Back in March 2008 I flew on the A380 on SQ from Sydney to Singapore and I wish I had filmed that - He took up almost the entire length of the runway at Kingsford Smith Airport
there is nothing to be seen either heavy or extra long at this takeoff. Pilots might have started with reduced takeoff thrust as you directly flew thereafter over urban area.
thats not true!!! pilots do not alwaysgive full thrust on take off!! they have diferent ways to calculate the minimum thrust for take off.if the plane is rather empty they give a lot less thrust!
i flew to new york last week with the same airplane (ek205) and it seemed to me that the engines are extremly powerful, because we took off very fast in HAM and JFK(the plane was full both times)
maybe the pilot gave full thrust!!!????
and the plane is very quiet!!!!!!!
i´ve never had such a quiet plane on any flight before, and we had seats right beside the engines
No they don't, on Airbus they usually use a reduced thrust mode (FLEX mode).
Full power (TOGA mode) is usually only used for go arounds or tricky takeoffs (adverse WX, short rwy ops, hot and high ops, obstacles to clear, etc...)
AFAIK Boeings also use a derate on thrust for most takeoffs too.
Airliners have a lot of excess thrust, using full power significantly reduces engine life and is just overkill for most takeoffs!
well,i´ve heard a lot that 345 has not that much strong engines, thats why the take offs durates some longer than any other plane.one reported that by turkish airlines, america airlines and so on.the newest 345 should be some stornger tough.

Passenger to flight attendant: Is this plane ever going to take off ?
Flight attendant: No, I don't think so; The captain is scared of heights

that is perfectly normal!!!!!!!!

ich bin mit der selben geflogen :-)
aber der take off ist nicht lang, er sollte immer bei der Lufthansa Technik hochgehen!

CDG to Montrael is about 7 hours, not? Not that far like CDG - KIX/EZE (13 hours +)

This flight is 35% of the distance this aircraft is able to fly. It's not heavy at all. Just derated thrust to avoid unnessasary engine stress.

The pilots always give full thrust on a take off.
I know the A345 is quiet, but beside the engines is still something different than behind. I know this difference from an Airbus 330-200

You were most likely just lighter.
Cargo and fuel are the biggest factors in aircraft weight.
And yes, the A345 and A346 have VERY silent cabins :)
Most comfortable long haul birds in my opinion.
Sha1tan 3 years ago
If you think the 345 is quiet... fly on the 388. You'll know the difference between a noisy and quiet cabin. NOT KIDDING

i looked it up in the internet
the engines of the a340-500 are just a little bit less powerful than the ones of the a340-600
