I think its important to clean the shafts before installing the new bushing. You don't want the dirt/metal particles on the shaft to get lodged between the shaft and the bushing and wear down the new bushing when the shaft turns.
This video was awesome for me. I replaced the axle key which fell off that holds the main drive gear on. I cleaned up all the parts inside with gasoline and put it all back together again. I did not have to call my big brother once!

because the axle gets loose and puts undue pressure on other parts
