my favorite version of mortalm kombat 1 is the arcade one i grew up with this game the nice thing is that i bought the Klassic arcade stick for the ps3 that comes with mk 1 mk2 and umk 3 and it really feels like playing on the arcade EXCELLENT!!!!!

seeing kano's blade or scorpion's spear connect with a body on the arcade just looks so much more fierce than any of the ports. the groan, the screen shake, the blood. the guy who said the ports were weak was absolutely correct. the only one i ever thought was remotely close was the PC MS-DOS port, and that one still had its flaws.

I like Scorpions routine for his work out session. Really, all console versions of this were dog shit. I played many for years, but I have to admit it now. I heard there was one (mortal kombat 1, I know theres a mk2 for it) on ps2, Like it came 'free' with a game.... That version is good I'd imagine.

I see some terrible playing mistakes: jumping straight up makes you very vulnerable. Never do that. Even in corners, do a backwards jumpkick. A series of punches isn't very effective either, at one point you lose control, you can't stop, but you can easily be counter-attacked by the opponent, use mainly specials, uppercuts and jump/low sweep kicks.
