I met her once, went to her hotel to help her with a musical instrument. She was REALLY sweet and fun to hang out with. Beautiful, but more so as a person. She seems to be one of the "real ones" out there.
Know my world and the people that change it? WTF is that suppose mean. Chill out dude you need to relax. I know she's Icelandic I'm saying that I use to think she was asian because of her eyes.
I'm not unchilled at all. I just think you are ignorant. Scandinavians and Nordic Islanders are often part Saami or Inuit, which is where the hair color/eye shape comes from. Any name that has a "Bj" in it pronounced "By-" could not concievably be Asian and is most definitely Nordic. It's just sad to see that people are still so ignorant about race and culture, when the person in question is so globally influential and whose musical style is so unignorably Nordic in sound, mood, and concept.
And Bjork needs to consider the fact that not everyone can make their money by singing. She may think it would be a crime for the country to have ugly factories on it, but the people who will work those jobs, I'm sure, will be very happy. This issue, like all others, is not so simple as some singer thinks it is, if you can call this regurgitation of buzz words and trendy thinking thinking.
you sound so negative. why are you so concerned about somebody doing something Good? Your right its not simple, but atleast she's trying. Icelantic government is alot more lenient and reasonable than other countries.
Its not negative, its called thinking. Just because somone is trying to do something 'good' as you say, does not excuse them from having to think the issue all the way thru. Ex.- the use of food sources for fuel starved out hundreds of thousands of people around the world. Don't believe me, look it up. Bjork obviously has a good heart, I'm not even saying she's completely 'wrong,' I"m just saying that it is a dangerous sit. when people allow themselves to be influenced by someone who does not..
..have things thought out. This is a dumb way to try to debate, with a 500 word character count, so I"m going to stop. Just 'meaning good' does not make good and decisions on policy should be based on rational reasoning for what is best, not something so simple minded as 'I want Icelandic children to see pretty rivers and stuff.'
"What we must strive for is an optimism of the spirit (or will) and a pessimism of the intellect."- Antonio Gramsci.
I dont know, Saving the planet seems alot more rational to me than building factories and putting people to starvation but I guess that's just my opinion right?

Bjork is retarded mentally and sexually.Since I was young I still think this Bjork is a piece of pig waste and she is a ghost.TOYOL Icelandic.PANTATTTTT
Sorry Bjork, but unfortunately your country has natural resources which will be utilised like any other. I am aware that local flora has been ruined by your govenment building dams to power the smelters for aluminium, but where else do you see your country growing wealth from? Now that your Banks have ruined your economy, I dont think the aveage Icelander will be happy going back to selling Arran Sweaters and Pipe smoking.
Hey, a rational response. Expect many thumbs down, though. For popularity you should say something like 'hell yes, Bjork is so awesome! Industry is so bad!' Like most entertainers Bjork lives in a bubble in which she forgets that people need a industry to work and feed their children. Of course people don't want to accept this, and they will consume natural resources on their computer in order to wail about how we shouldn't be using natural resources, lol, funny if you think about it.
you making it sound as if you dont consume natural resources yourself. The only one wailing is you. It seems to me that you have a personal grudge against artist who support positivity, probably because deeply you want to do it yourself but been let down over and over. Its a common trait in psychology. it's called mirroring.
Your post ,literally makes no sense. I never claimed I don't use natural resources, that is why I support industry, I do not want to be a hypocrite. As for positivity, that is a completely relative term. I consider myself positive already, but positive in support of sound economic/rational thinking. Just because I do not support your poorly concieved opinion it does not mean I am 'negative.' I could say the same about you- you are against positivity for industry, but that is a comment that does.
..not make have any real substance, just as your's does not. As for mirroring, it is amusing that you would make such a leap of assumption based on a few 500 word character count comments. I don't care much for the pseudo (er, 'social') sciences, I try to stick to the natural sciences and to base my arguments on logic, not whatever it is you are using for you opinions. And I have no grudge against Bjork, I love Bjork's music and her spirit, I just don't agree with her views on economics.Simple.
As I've already stated, blind idealism is not 'positive,' it can usher in very destructive things. I care very much for people and for what is best for them, just because I don't support the trendy way of 'thinking' doesn't mean I'm negative, and I feel that the 'green' movement is largely political and supported by bad science and, because I care about my world, I want to offer a counter-argument. Call that 'wailing' if you'd like, I call it engagement.
I wonder that she goes green, respect for that to her. Because beware of Iceland's natural beauty. Stop the demolition of some energyfactories in some parts of Iceland. Specially around the capital Reykjavik. STOP IT NOW!
Bjork's accent is beautiful - that's what sets her apart - not everyone should speak English the way Americans or British do - they speak it their own way as long as they can express themselves :)
I can understand that it must be a hard language to master, compared to English, Icelandic is like oil painting vs drawing stick-figures. Your nation has preserved its language so well that (or so I've heard) many high-school children can read the Old Icelandic sagas almost fluently. Speakers of modern English wouldn't understand a sentence of Old English; we've allowed all the richness of our language to diminish for the sake of simplicity. Plus: at least you don't speak Finnish. VERY complex.
Although I think Finnish is also a very beautiful language. There is something almost sacred about a language so complex that it is almost impossible to learn fluently as a second language.
yes it's true that it's very hard to master.. but .. one thing ive got to clear up .. im in highschool.. and when I read the old icelandic saga... i dont understand a word ... some kids do.. but today almost non of them do... and haha i went to finnland this year and ive got to say.. that language is kinda weird.. xD ...
Really? I think then that Iceland likes to make their linguistic and cultural purity sound a little stronger than it is, hmm? For instance I have also heard that while Iceland advertises itself as rather genetically homogenic, your country actually has now many Vietnamese immigrants which have sort of been "swept under the rug" to use some English idiom.
im icelandic.. and I think björk is cool.. and all the things shes doing.... but for christ sakes björk stop talking english like your retarded..!!!!!!
well ... i dont mind if people think the language is wonderful or whatever... but.. me.. personally hate it... even tough if been speeking it since i was like 1 years old.. it's so fucked up
how is saying "bjork stop speaking english like you're retarded" hard to follow? That's just a plain dumb statement to make. Let's see talk her language and see how retarded you sound.
You´re not right. Icelanders CAN read and understand the old books, it has almost exactly the same words as is spoken in Iceland now. I just think you´re a kid the thinks school is boring, therefor you don´t want to really think about what you are reading.
ye your are right.. i am just a kid , and i think school is boring. But what I meant was that most KIDS cant understand the old story books ( the storys about the vikings and stuff) .. it's hard for kids (im 15) to understand those words.. they are really old.. we use alot of english words ( people from 10 - 25 year old use alot of it ) and could you know btw ? are u icelandic? or have u ever lived there?
It does not have any of that, it has to be shipped over from Jamaica or Australia just so we can use the smelters, then we ship it over back to Asia so they can make something out of it, and then they ship it over to us to sell the goods. But all for the green energy
