  • There are just a few characters that the public knows how they should be played. Jesus Christ, Hitler, Superman, Douglas McArthur, Richard III, Henry VIII, even Franklin Roosevelt. Jeremy Brett's interpetation of Sherlock Holmes is now the benchmark, surpassing even the great Basil Rathbone. Oh, and visit the Holmes store near Regents Park. Very interesting!

  • Flawless video editing. My appreciation increases with each viewing.

  • Hands down, the best Holmes interpretation ever! Brett has raised the bar so high, all future interpretations will be presumptuous and superfluous. The Debussy is a perfect fit. Absolutely gorgeous performance.

  • What a beautiful job! Loved Jeremy Brett in this role. You've captured his, or Holmes's, soul in this. Thank you.

  • I've been watching this now and then for over a year. It remains one of my all-time favorite YouTube videos. Very beautifully done.

  • An excellent Video , Jeremy Brett was one of englands finest actors in my opinion. He is the one and only Holmes. Very emotional and beautiful video, more please.

  • My favourite video on youtube, and the most beautiful I've ever seen too! Lovely timing, and I must say, I did cry the first time I heard it. :D

  • Perfect, just perfect.

    With the most sincere compliments,

    Marianne

  • If they ever give an award for the best video on YouTube, this should win. It's perfect.

  • Just discovered this and too beautiful for words really. Thank you for such a lovley video and on watching it today, it is a fitting tribute :)

  • You should check out Slave Ballade and Reverie by Claude DeBussy as well.

He was one of a kind!

  • beautifully done and timed. spot on. A favourite of mine. Cheers!

  • And you couldn't have known that I'm a huge fan of Sherlock Holmes, and especially Jeremy Brett's version. Great combo!

  • Loved it! It's hard to find something artistic that goes through the hands of so many people and comes out intact, and even enhanced. This one went through Debussy, Heifetz, Joshua Bell, Frederic Chiu (yours truly!), Jeremy Brett, and WhataFineFellow (and whoever directed Brett). Very clever and effective editing - I loved the long pause before the recap of the theme, timed with the meditation.

    Great job!!

  • I'm truly honoured that you like it so much. Thank you for your wonderful praise, and may I say that you are a spectacular pianist, and I wish you great happiness for the future.

    Once again, thank you.

  • That's exquisite---beautiful on so many levels. Incredible editing and of course the piece is divinely played by Josh Bell and Frederic Chiu. Congratulations and thanks for putting it on youtube. Five stars is not enough.

  • Very nice--you did a wonderful job on this. :)

  • Wonderful- so evocative of a night's mood. Excellent synchronization and choice of clips. Thank you "for contributing to the literature of the subject".

  • You're very welcome; I'm glad you enjoyed it.

  • You're welcome, I just recognise an honest piece of work when I see one, that's all. It was very good.

  • Very nice!

  • I love Debussy- my favourite piece is Le Fille de Cheveux de Lin. This was chillingly good. I appreciate immediately how much effort it must have taken to get the violin to fit the music. I am immensely grateful for the clear work you put into it, and the finishing result was worth it, I swear. well done.

  • Thank you so much for your kindness. You're right: it was hard to get the violin parts exactly right, but it was incredibly rewarding once it was all finished.

Once again, thank you; I'm glad you enjoyed it so much.

  • Clever, nicely arranged from beginning to end! Well done. Beautiful, beautiful violin tune.

    Cheers!

  • That was just beautiful. Some of my favorite music too, and I love how you've edited it so it looks as though Holmes is playing the violin part.

  • Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

  • That was gorgeous ^_^
