Myle's solo is good- it is a good extension and continuation of the the vocal he just finished singing.

Myles and Mark would think that this video is dumb IF the purpose is to show that Myles isn't as good as Mark technically. They both already know that and niether of them has a problem with it. It is what it is. They each have their strengths, and even though I think Mark is one of the top guitar players ever, you can't fault Myles here! Fighting in youtube comments- what a surprise!! LOL

As for Alter Bridge, The band inlcudes all the guys from creed without the drawback of Scott douching it up. Mark Tremonti is a beast at guitar, and I suggest looking at some of his other stuff. If you want a metal band that doesn't suck, look for Megadeth, because the current lead guitarist Chris Broderick can destroy Hammet.

I enjoy this solo, but honestly, it's nothing Mark hasn't already said before. It's got great emotion behind it, but listen his solo from "Don't Stop Dancing". It has a similar feel and I think he says a lot more with fewer notes.

So the guitar nerds are going all "Man that's not hard I can do that", and I'm sure you can. The greatness of a solo isn't proportional to how many notes you can squeeze in per second or how technically challenging it is. It's the feel and emotion that matters. Great solos enhance the emotions depictured in the song and perhaps become the climax of it's emotional rollercoaster, something which this solo does very well even though it's not a 20-minute shred session.

I do love this song and I'm glad it won but I gotta say: I really hate those "best of" polls. They're totally subjective and the opinions of "the best" are based as much (or more?) on the voter's emotions and associations as the guitarists' technical proficiency. While there may be better solos out there, the winner is totally dependent upon the likes and dislikes of the few people who voted.
