El Debarge was the most talented of the entire family and they really did have a bright future... especially El when he went solo in the mid eighties. The phones always LIT UP with kids calling for this tune when I was a disc jockey back in the day, and this was in rural Iowa - not exactly urban landscape. Sadly, many of the DeBarge clan were absolutely ravaged by drug abuse, prison time, etc. I believe Bobby is dead and El, despite rehab, is still having issues. Hope he can pull through.
