  • @mrrcoktookmehere - to set the record straight - no one stabbed anyone or bit anyones thumb off. Roger stepped in at the last sec and stopped bags from actually severing any part of my good friend Dana's thumb. he still has it today, but it's a little messed up. bags went to jail for it. what I know no one knows about, is how it started. And that...is for another time.

  • Bags spit the guys finger in the drain after he stabbed him I saw the whole thing

  • the first band in the Vid are the Psychos with Tommy Rat singing,Tommy also sang for Warzone when Beez was on drums,Trip 6 etc,I was also involved in that fight where bags bit the finger,Donny the Dead punk wrote a nice scene report about in MRR

  • @scareho666 what ever happened to trip 6? i cant find any recordings by them online, only back with a vengeance from the new york city hardcore compilation

  • Do you mean the first song?Straight jacket? they are JERRY'S KIDS from boston

  • anybody could say me the first band im certain that i know them but at the moment....

  • at 3:00 is that Gina from the Lunachicks?? sure looks like her.

    jim.

  • No matter how many times I've watched this I still love it!!!! Wow, what a mind blow! NYHC still roooles! :)

  • who sings that avenue a avenue a song????it aint AF or Neg.Youth!

  • CAUSE FOR ALARM

  • is anybody here still a punk?

    punk for life

  • Oh ... and nobody took my picture unless they paid me. We all really wanted to be London punks back then, even though punk was a NY thing. Biggest mohawk, most spikes, most badass skull on your jacket. That was cool back then. And some of these things were hard to find. Blu, pink, green hair dye .... you had to go to LA. So, came the Leopard Skin technique .... because you didn't need fancy colors.

  • But that was it. Those 3 rules ... and if you caught somebody slamming with spikes .... you could kick their ass. It was pretty self regulated, most of the time.

  • I used to hang out at those same Sunday Matinee's.

Those were the days! There were 3 rules:

#1: Take off your spikes before entering the mosh

#2: If someone dives off the stage, catch them!

#3: If someone falls down, help them up.

There were very few injuries .... but yeah, it was intense!

  • Crucial!

    (Remember that?)

I painted the back of Charlie Hankins leather jacket....I have to go and see if I have a picture of that somewhere.

Love the memories...what fun those days were!

  • Awesome! Who would have thought twenty something years later the rednecks would dress like us? I guess we won after all....

    Negative Youth

  • Yea, figured it was Agnostic. Thanks.

  • What band is that at about 1min50sec?

  • Psychos followed by AF

  • @drewcarolan And what about the song starting at 1.55? Seems to me it aint AF, Jerry's Kids or the unjust...

    thanx

  • @volpe77 CFA

  • @volpe77 CFA

  • This is great...I forgot about those photos....this is the 2nd cbgbs thing I have seen myself in, good thing cause I don't remember much....My husband is the skin with braces stage diving....

  • I came upon this scene way after - '91. It was all about hearing the old stories, meeting the old veterans, and you could really feel the intensity at those shows, in front of that shitty stage. RIP cbgbs.

  • WOW! Wrecking Machine NYPD's finest. The Psychos! Billy Buns...LOL

Had a similar experience with my first MC jacket and my Mom...LOL She figured HC was devil worship...LOL She got over it quick though.

What a ride. Harris was such a character! Great film! Great pics.... I wish it all existed in that form instead of the current BS incarnations. RIP CB's

  • cool jerry kids clip at 50 sec........long live cbs rest in piece hilly

  • It was good to see Gwen one of my old mates from cbgb's.. she actually wanted me to go bald and become a skin head at the time but I liked having hair!! This was my scene from 83-85 I remember wrecking machine with his thermo w/ the n/y/h/c logo w/wrecking machine in red paint..I used to sit on the stage all the time..I remember so many people there but I dont have the room to write it all

    Cynthia N/J

  • RESPECT.

  • Every once in a while forgotten gems like this surface. This is the era that appeals to me most. This is how I like my hardcore best. Like I said, respect.

  • Thanks for preserving this piece of music history!

  • fucking awesome video, drew, kudos for keeping it flying - NYHC/NJHC rules

    love,

Jon/Mechanized Death, the guy in the trenchcoat at 05:41

  • That was brilliant, Drew.

Although the closing of CB's is truly and sadly the end of an era, your chronicle of those few years will continue to live on. Thank you for preserving the memory in perpetuity.

  • Billy Psycho on the drums... what a flashback... 5:48 into the clip: a beardless Harris from Letch Patrol follwed by Jenny Lush drinking a 40 on the sidewalk outside CBGB. wow. Brings back many happy memories... so does the picture of Gwen's bare butt.

  • Great NYC ol' s**t!!! Drew Carolan -- when is the book coming out? The photographs are sick....Can't believe cb's is no longer....

  • Hey Wrecking Machine, I remember you throwing a kid once right on his ass. You were really apologetic and even rubbed his rump for him! You're a good guy!

  • The interviews & cutaway shots are extraordinary! The Super 8 footage of Sunday afternoon hardcore matinee is outstanding, put simply, culturally significant.

  • That was awesome!

  • Unbelievable! Outstanding!

    Destined to be a classic....
