The music is great! The expressions and dynamics are slightly non-existent, but the performance is tight. I wish I had any connection to lyrics, the changes, or anything for that matter. Good writing, does not make emotional connection, and without emotional connection... Well, I don't mind, but the music that impacts me most, has these connections. I don't connect with the musician, so... It is even very creative, but lacks... depth. My two cents, now where am I off to?

Technique can get you through any gig. This is text book. Nailing a tune like this live is very hard. The complexities and changes are numerous and he nailed it. Some are saying his postures bad but keep in mind how comfortable and relaxed you have to be to play this style of extreme metal. Anyone who knows the faceless knows that that was tame compared to other songs. Great drummer!

@rollinfever15 Used a 57 on the top and bottom on this recording. I have since been using the Heil PR20 on top and a 57 on bottom. Another similar sound is the beta 57 on top and I really like teh beta 98 on bottom. Use bottom live... always.

The only cymbal mics used are on the ride, both high hats, and that 4040 under/in front of the splash in the middle. This is not a perfect recording and it was not planned out, I just record everyday on tour and Steve Jones happened to put up a drum cam this day. "got it right the first time" as in, no changes besides mastering EQ and compression to the stereo mix.

I try to keep consistency from venue to venue on tour, and it is a good way to check up on my mixing over the span of a month of shows with different gear every day.
