I hope you guys will continue to support the fundamental philosophy once Ron Paul is out of the picture. If he loses the nomination and this movement just gets phased out, I'll be really sad. I like Adam Kokesh and the like for the most part, but a lot of times all of the intensity reflects poorly on the movement. Some of us should calm down, and educate rather than insult. Ron Paul isn't our Jesus, that's not what this is, and we should respect the beliefs of others. That's what liberty is.

Unfortunately almost every economic school of thought makes claims like that. It made me a little sick to my stomach to be honest, then I found Steve Keen who is the only one I know of doing real science in economics. He's one of the 12 who predicted the crash, him, Schiff, & 10 others.
He's an economics professor at the university of west sydney. The good part is that he's accurate, the bad part is that he's funded by George Soros. We need liberty minded people to do real science in economics or we're never going to keep our freedom.

Commercial bank money is created when loans are made. Central bank money is made when the chairman decides to put 0's on the end of someone's account. The federal reserve tried to contract the money supply in 1969 & realized they couldn't do it. The truth is that they can only expand it.

@kathryndelong I used to follow the Austrian school until I read that they claim there are things that can't be tested empirically. No reasonable person can take a claim like that seriously. Unfortunately almost every economic school of thought makes claims like that. It made me a little sick to my stomach to be honest, then I found Steve Keen who is the only one I know of doing real science in economics. He's one of the 12 who predicted the crash, him, Schiff, & 10 others.

He's the only one who can model the entire economy. If we had listened to him we wouldn't have had a crash either. He can also model the great depression. He can also prove that the federal reserve doesn't have a monopoly on money. Give this about 25 minutes.

Ans The kind of freedom we are advocating for is only theoretical in nature at this point. And actual free market, and actual free society. One has not existed, so pseudo science as you put it, is the only way to experience it. One can certainly discuss philosophy in the abstract. For us, that's as close as we've been.

@getsetrecords Oddly enough, the real world is more complicated than that. In a fractional reserve system there is central bank money (MB) & there is commercial bank money (M1, M2, M3). Commercial bank money is created when loans are made. Central bank money is made when the chairman decides to put 0's on the end of someone's account. The federal reserve tried to contract the money supply in 1969 & realized they couldn't do it. The truth is that they can only expand it.

There are a plethora of things that can't be empirically tested, such as laws of logic, arithmetic laws, aesthetics, your existence. But I guess I understand. It would be hard to learn Austrian economics with no philosophical training. I recommend that you take another look at the Austrian school. It's clear to me that you haven't understood it.

In fact, MANY libertarians do not like Ron Paul due to various philosophical differences (i.e immigration, abortion, states rights position). A lot of Ron Paul people are new to libertarianism and aren't really emerged in the philosophy. I'd recommend you do.

Well, for starters, he thinks that foreign trade is shipping jobs overseas. That's a basic Keynes fallacy. @Mattthias293, "Corporate greed" HELPS the poor. Refrigerators, microwave ovens, cell phones and even ball point pens were cost prohibitive when first invented. Companies competing with one another to make better, faster and more affordable products mean that now the average poor household in America has all these products. This is an increase in the nation's standard of living. "Greed" i.e. seeking market share and profit margin is what drives this and the poor are helped more than anyone else.
