  • There was another classic scene from that movie where Hackman's character tells his father to shut up.

  • One of the most electrifying films ever made, Melvin Douglas deserved his Oscar, so did the rest of the cast. Flawless. Beardyman9, so sorry to hear of your loss. I have always believed that survivors shouldn't speak at funerals, that it's best left to professionals. I hear what you said, it's a great quote, and so true.

  • Gene Hackman & Estelle Parsons.....burning up the screen together, as they did in "Bonnie And Clyde"....!!

  • god, this film is so hard to find! i think it's available on spanish dvd but not in english. such a pity as it's meant to be a breakthrough film for gene hackman.

  • please, post some other scenes from this wonderful film.

  • A truly wonderful film. Seen many years ago but recently revisited after my Dad died a few weeks ago. I have "Strangers" on tape but it would be nice if more were posted on this very touching film. I was too upset to speak at the funeral but I wanted to stand up and say: "Death ends a life, but it does not end a relationship. Which struggles on in the survivors mind to some resolution it may never find."

  • This is an amazing and powerful drama. The song "Strangers" sung by Roy Clark was beautiful and haunting; can't find that one because of a dispute between songwriters.
