Just so you all know: if you want to impress the people in Tashkent, speak Russian, not Uzbek, since Russian is the majority language (i.e. the mother tongue of most people). In fact, many people are completely unable to converese in Uzbek, and even though Uzbek is the official language, websites related to Tashkent (like the metro) are usually in Russian and NOT Uzbek.
haha, thats my favorite city Tashkent. You dont know how beautiful it is out there during summer time at night. I go there every summer and i live in New York.
hi Durbanbay, there are some very strickt rules in my country ,but our people dont follow them,
the most funniest was when he said ANGLIYA Angliya, at least you should understand that word,)in which hotel did you stop when you were in Tahsket, have you been in Samarkand city?
I do agree with you my dear btw we have some children's of Uzbek nationality but they speak English very well. Anywan, this visitor's can not speak Russian. I am sure the driver speak Russian very well. phs in Uzbekistan you have to speak national language like in G.B. only English.
Yes, you are right. We couldn't speak Russian. We can speak English, Chinese and Taiwanese but that doesn't help in Uzbekistan. Regardless, when people figured out we couldn't speak Russian or Uzbek, they tried very hard to help us. We had a great time.
Thanks for the comments. I will not reply to the second one as I don't understand it.
WOW, it's funny to people who don't live there. But all uzbeks are adapted to see that kind of situation during the day. The taxi driver was saying "So, you guys speak English, ENGLAND (when he said Angliya). The taxi driver probably was happy to take England people in his car.
Yes. Its very funny for us. I am sure the Uzbeks are used to it. I think he was very happy and helpful. During our time there everyone was very helpful and we really appreciated their kindness. Thanks for your comments.
and they will probably continue to do it for the next 15 years....ha ha ha...and I get irritated in Taipei when people ride motorcycles on the sidewalk. Thanks for the comment. Nice to know somethings dont change.
I would love to learn Uzbek. If I had the chance to live there I would. It was a wonderful country to visit and I hope to go there again in the future. Thanks for your comment.
The taxi driver asked if you were speaking English. And he asked if you were from Britain. Just thought that would help.
