I have a feeling weed would have the same effects alcohol would if it was legal and sold all over the place. The big issue is driving while under the effects of a drug and or getting addicted to one. And although you can debate weed is not addictive now. If it were to become legal, it would go the same route as everything else. I happen to be a pokemon fan. Does that mean I wanna trap animals and compete in cockfights? Not at all. Pokemon are supposed to have very humanlike behavior and the only animals in real life that come close are apes and dolphins. More people have entered into treatment- fewer people are dying. methadone clinics have seen increased numbers(meaning that people are attempting to get over heroine) Drug users aren't always bad people and Portugal is the model by which we can see the true benefit of decriminalization across the board.

video games can't change the character of a person. Real Life events have to do this. You can't get this from videogames they cannot anymore than movies change who you are. It is the character of the person that is at fault who is attracted to X type of games or movies that is at fault if they go out and kill people.

Kids were mean to them and adults looked down on them. On a positive note on all other basis the Dutch are more tolerating on other subjects.

I happen to be a pokemon fan. Does that mean I wanna trap animals and compete in cockfights? Not at all. Pokemon are supposed to have very humanlike behavior and the only animals in real life that come close are apes and dolphins. Even then attempting to use them in fights like in pokemon would be horrific. At least with pokemon they haveplenty of resources to aid in recovery in case of injury and the pokemon themselves fight in a competitive sense. We don't have that luxury with real animals.

I do not use any illegal drugs but I have seen lives ruined for something as stupid as getting caught smoking pot. The answer to the drug war is to stop the war. Let the drugs be available by prescription (even if for an addiction) from a MD and remove the criminal element. We would have a 90% drop in crime and we would not need to build more prisons! People are going to use them anyway, but legalizing them would at least stop the criminality!

Just a quick point about potential harm of drugs and that being a reason to criminalise them- Are we going to arrest people for ski-ing? F1 Driving? Hiking? All pose potential danger. Legislating against personal taste should not be acceptable. legalisation of ALL drugs, mixed with the same precautionary measures we use for alcohol and tobbacco(age restriction/time and place of use etc.) and a regulating body would free up a lot of cash and stop a lot of problems for a lot of countries. Portugal decriminalized everything across the board. More people have entered into treatment- fewer people are dying. methadone clinics have seen increased numbers(meaning that people are attempting to get over heroine) Drug users aren't always bad people and Portugal is the model by which we can see the true benefit of decriminalization across the board.

I want to decriminalize drugs so we can fight the addictions a lot of people struggle, so they are regulated properly and so you can find real help. Drugs have actually given me a much better grasp on what life is and how to live it to the fullest. Doing drugs has nothing to do with real crime where you infringe on someone else's liberty. @flappenstein I lived in Holland for 4 years (now back in the USA) and I remember that Muslims were not that well tolerated. I did not live in Amsterdam but a small town outside of Apeldoorn. I had family there and I remember not much good was said about the (forgive my spelling) azielzoekers (I know not all muslims were azielzoekers). Kids were mean to them and adults looked down on them. On a positive note on all other basis the Dutch are more tolerating on other subjects.

Actually most drugs do harm people and their family members surrounding the users. Okay pot is more of a mild drug and it has been proven to help cancer patients and other illnesses. But it should not be legal for everyone. The bible talks about drugs being sorcery. Sorcery comes from the word pharmakos which in modern time is pharmaceutical. So God warns against drugs because they bring you under the influence of demons.

Here's another question for our evangelical friends: If Hell is eternal and once you're there, you're there forever...then how is it possible AT ALL to bring someone back to life as your scam artists claim if the soul is trapped there forever. Was the rich man given a second chance? NO, why would anyone else?
Also, they claim that Hell is not annihilation...not true...in the Book of Revelation, it states that Hell and Death will be cast into the Lake of Fire to be consumed. How can hell be...

People shouldn't be worrying about hell anyway, it doesn't exist. The First Church of the Apostles NEVER taught that people burn in hell for not believing in Christ. The word "hell" is a concocted mistranslation of the words "Gehenna" and "Sheol" both of which imply "grave" or "Hades". It was a belief of the Jews that EVERYONE goes to the city of the Dead, there was no paradise or pit.

I agreed with what your argument at first when you said about suspension regarding video games and movies but I think once you brought up the Bible your argument kind of went south. There is no scripture about killing witches or anything like that. It seems like you need to read the Bible a little more before you start making generalizations about it but you do seem like an intelligent thinker which I respect. Jesus is Lord thought and I hope you know Him if you don't already.
