It's great that the enough project is trying and all, but the problem is not these minerals. The government needs to change. If they take away the source of income for these militants the people working will no longer have a value. When the greedy become the desperate that is when more will die. What do you think they spend the money on? Food and weapons. Nothing changes here unless the change comes out the muzzle of a gun. Sad, but true.
I'm glad this is getting more support and publicity- these atrocities have been going on in Congo for a long time- and equally awful things have been happening in Sudan. Hopefully this and other support/awareness will help people to open their eyes and make change.
Im glad that people are actualyl viewing this. I dont usually chime in on this type of stuff because lets be honest, there isnt much that we can HONESTLY change just by sitting here, but this is something that can rectified...Pass it on to everyone you know!
What is wrong with people in Africa. They'll find any reason to commit crimes against humanity. We should take away all of our business from hostile African countries because they can't handle anything without killing or raping. They are pathetic.
This is a silly comment- it's not "people in Africa," it's people, period. Limited resources, poor government infrastructure and politicians leading with fear (of their own and put on others) - most of these conditions directly created by or hastened by colonialism by European and white countries - all contribute to a proliferation of violent and ignorant acts. Instead of pointing fingers (conditions/history are way too nuanced and complex) let's move toward solutions and reconciliation.
Since when did Africa somehow become the problem of everyone else.
To remove all blame from the individual unit (people) and place it entirely on resources, government, infrastructure etc. is to devalue the achievement of the individual. And that is called communism / socialism.
It is an ideology that has been proved to implode over and over throughout history. The ultra Leftist ideas that remove blame from the individual unit and place it on society is bullshit.
Its what the Nazis did, its what the communist Soviet block did and its what America is moving towards.
How many billions of dollars have been pumped into Africa in the last 20 years ? Thousands. Have they changed a bit ? No ! Do you know why ? Because as Gandhi said, change comes only from the inside.
