  • did she leave anything behind like a diary or memoirs? i'd be interested in seeing what 1920s/30s SoCal and hollywood looked like from anna may wong's perspective.

  • basilnelson: Thank you for your timely response. Obvious that you are very selective in video and music before you post. The number of hits do not even begin to reflect the true number of people you have touched with these rare gems. Best wishes.

  • May I ask the name of this music and a possible source to purchase it?

  • @Flickchaser The soundtrack consists of several edited pieces of music. Titles are 'The Butterfly Lovers' played by Richard Clayderman and 'Tortoise' and 'The Maidens of the Tea Mountain' both played by the Shanghai Traditional Chinese Orchestra. I suggest you try Amazon as my original sources no longer exist.

  • Thank you, Basil for this wonderful tribute to the truly most beautiful woman that ever appeared in film .......she is timeless in her appeal.

  • Beautiful music for an exotic lady! Your post have captured more of us than any others. I wish I had a Phd. in Nostalgia! Thank you.

  • Great tribute video! Keep up the good work.

  • The Chinese music is a little weird, you do know she was an American right?

  • @s8ntmark The video reflects her movie career not her private life. She became the first Chinese-American international film star and was known for her roles in Eastern and Oriental Hollywood movies.

  • Anna, you have an "angel face". The first time I saw you was in one movie of Lana Turner (Portait in black). Eras la inquietante criada de Lana. Also I saw you with the great Marlene in "El expreso de Shanghay". I never forget your face. All my love from Spain. WONDERFUL VIDEO. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

  • The most beautiful hands of the Silver Screen. A beautiful woman in so many different ways.

  • She was a beautiful and gifted actress. It's such a shame that old movie fans are denied so much of her talent because of hollywood not using Chinese in Chinese parts.

  • She was so chic. Why don't we see and hear more about her?

  • Anna May Wong was strongly criticised by the Nationalist government and the film community at the time, because the ex first lady Chiang Kai-shek's wife Soong May-ling hates Anna May Wong deeply with jealous.

  • I love her Exotic beauty and the music fits so well!

    A lasting memory!!

    George Vreeland Hill

  • Beautiful tribute to this lovely star! Thank you so much for posting this!

  • She was beautiful and talented, but she was also a pioneer. She paved the way. It couldn't have been easy, but as a star of the stage and screen, she accomplished much in her lifetime. Thank you for the post, she remains an amazing, laudable beauty.

  • During her career in Silent Films, Wong was seen as an "Exotic Sex Symbol", very few actresses fulfilled a role beyond a "Vamp" image. In both America and Europe she was seen as a fashion icon and a constant reference in gossip columns.

Though Anna May Wong was the first actress of Asian descent to find great acclaim in American Films, she was the last for a very long while. Fondly, Hedda

  • Thankyou. The tribute reflects her movie career, not her private life. Her name was synonymous with exotic Asian-themed productions for which she became famous.

  • Beautiful pictures, but wouldn't the Charleston be more appropriate? She wasn't raised in the Imperial Court, but in California!

  • Wonderful!! Thanks for this contribution to Anna's memory.

  • Nicely done.

  • This is a Rose of the far East` with echoes of
