Lol i read the book and i loved the part where mr tumnus was like:

when i saw the film 2005 i never thougt that mr tumnus will be one time one of my favourit actors (and one of the hottest). than i saw 2011 x men first class with james mcavoy and he was so sweet, amazing, so good looking and he was mr tumnus too! why i dont know it much earlier???

oh remember the way she looks around while entering narnia... and then think about the third film when she looked up at the snow just as amazed as she is in this film :) how much she changed! she was such a cute girl and today she is almost grown up and so pretty:) I can't believe she was that small and tiny in 2005... anyway, 2005 doesn't seem to be so long ago , but now only six (!) years later everything is so different... time is an odd thing ;)

oh c'mon guys mr tumnus is not a pervert-.- the scene is completely innocent besides the reason that he is trying to take her into his house and later give her to the white witch. he didn't even do the last part of it. i think jame's acting is really cute and just expresses tumnus character and worries perfectly.

@humanityforhumans ERRRRRR! WRONG. Yes, you are right about somethings like his name meaning. He WAS the god of EXCESSIVE sexual desire, amongst other things (i.e.Lord of the Woods, god of goatherds and huntsmen; ecstatic dancer; god of laughter and good humor, he was the trickster god) Which you see all of in his character throughout the movie.

Do your research, don't believe the first thing you read.

I have never thought about it like this before I read these comments here I always found this scene cute... this was never thought as perverted, if you don't believe watch BBC Chronicles of Narnia it's way different. no matter what you say THIS will always be my fav. scene..

yeah, i agree, i liked his acting on the contrary, cause his situation was that he was ordered to turn in any humans spotted. But he was struggling on whether he should or shouldn't because Lucy seems so unharmful.. so in the end he has this weird expression where he's trying to smile but he can't... but he sorta is and isn't LOL.

So I guess I understand why you guys might say he looks a little pervy.

I could tell he was attracted to the girl here but because of the intensity (and maybe the angle of his gaze), it went from friendly/interpersonal attraction and came across as more...um, sexual? Sorry if i shocked/offended anyone, just curious to see if anyone else got that?

I don't think it was attraction--but just McAvoy's acting.  Remember, at the moment Mr. Tumnus learns she's a "daughter of Eve," he begins conniving to get her to his house so he can lull her to sleep and turn her over to the White Witch (as she'd instructed him to do). So...in this scene, Mr. Tumnus should be acting weird and looking at Lucy with a strange light in his eyes. It's all a part of the story!

I agree. It's not supposed to be an attraction or anything sexual; he was trying to be charming and nice so he would be able to get her to come with him. His intentions were to get the reward of turning her over to the White Witch.

If you want to look at it in another light, then think of the author and his somewhat biblical mentions in the book. Why in the world would be put in a pedophiliac faun?

tell me that my brother and i weren't only ones who felt the extremely weird (because she's a little girl) chemistry between them two (all of which was pretty much coming from James McAvoy's eyes.) We felt he was kinda pervy...but now that i think about it i think it's possible that it wouldnt have been if she were a teen or older...so i guess he just has a really strong...SOMEthing that he expresses with his eyes.
