I think the person just mistyped and meant 4 guage. I've heard the weapon is a 1 inch diameter round, but I'm no expert. The biggest thing I shot (more than once) was the M-60, which is just 7.62 mm. Unless you count the M-72A1 LAW !!!

hey guys this is this is the 100 caliber and yes i did say an inch in diameter 4 bore side by side rifle custom made by ken Owens its like a 120,000$ dollar rifle this is one of six made. it fires the 2000 grain soft lead round at about 9,000 pounds per square inch. its made for large game and i mean very large game. elephants get scared of this rifle i bet even T Rexes would get scared of this thing

This is a 4 bore.... not a .577 trex, .577 t rex was a variation of .585 diam used in bolt action rifles. This isn't anything close........ But nevertheless 4 bore is much more powerful

The same thing you would use a .577 for. Both african dangerous game rounds, and both would work well. The difference is the 4 bore is a much older round, designed to use over 2000 grains of lead with black powder in a brass shell, way before shells and rifles had been refined and made more efficient Right after muzzloading.... You won't find a 4 bore in any action but double rifle, unlike the .577. The 4 bore would be better as a back up or charge stopper, not as long of range as the .577.

the bullet cant fit a .577, thats .577 of 1 inch, basically, just over half an inch, that bullet is damn near, if not 1 inch...the .577 is also based on a bolt rifle, and some single barrel 1 shots, double rifles like that are OLD, the .577 is NEW..

if it was a 4 bore, there would be massive smoke, as 4 bores used black powder, its likely a .900 NE, cordite (the propellant) makes far less smoke, 4 bores actually in most cases, fired 4 round pellets, but they also fired conical bullets as well, those are round point, so its likely a .900, i know i said .700, but looking at it, watch a video on the .700 you will see the size, a gun like that would likely cost 25k plus, so likely noone on here has seen one.... not even me...

They're about the same. .50 caliber has more propellant so it moves faster but the .577 is heavier and has more mass then a .50 caliber. .577 though is completely impractical as a mankiller. Only useful for downing a charging animal.
