Critics suck ass, most of them are frustrated musicians who never attained any level of success.............so that qualifies them to critique everyone else, like movie critics and book critics.....etc. etc. etc. If they're all that fuckin' smart and that good, let's see how many songs they charted. I'm willing to bet.........0
I would of course agree 199%, but it will never happen. The rock hall barely recognizes the popular hard rock/metal acts as is let alone the fringe artists like "The Amazing Blue Oyster Cult" Oh well fans know the truth.
Kynatics, read your comment & didn't even have to think 1/2 a second to agree that's sort of how i feel,,please check out my cover band at, 437boxed look for deuce, i'm the one singing these great tunes, getting high & still having fun doing it!,,, rock on!
I so disagree with anyone who claims this is one of their worst albums. That is bullshit. I see that comment all the time. This album in my dumb ass worthless opinion is the best album they made. I have almost all of their albums and have seen them live five times. This song, and the Vigil just kicks ass. Period! Mirrors is good the great sunjester is a nice ballad. I am the Storm is so underated. Every song on this album is a good song.
Saw them on the MIRRORS tour It was the opening song. What I remember most was Alan Lander was not with them they played as a 4 piece. Some family problem I heard.
I saw them many times, never without Alan Lanier. He was the band's leader after all. And he also seemed to have fallen off the map-retired they say. But all those cigarettes get me to thinking maybe he's ill or something.
@NYVoice I had a brief e-mail contact with Albert Bouchard about 3 years ago and he did say that Alan Lanier is not in the best health. I always dreamed that someday we would get to see all the originals one last time. He said probably not happen, Alan's health and management is not interested. I say F... managers

Huge BOC fan seen then 4 or 5 times last time in mount clemens michigan at a veterans day concert got to meet and hang out with Buck and Eric they were both very down to earth guys who treated us fans like gold.
I really fail to see how this album could be called excessively poppy. I've never come across any song from the same time period that used such blatant yet lyrical S&M subtext as Dr Music. And no "popular music" from the time sounds anything like The Great Sun Jester. There's also the truly unique sound and story of the cult of alien worshipers of The Vigil.
@Trilaan BOC never did sound like anyone else. They were always a fringe band with their originality. I guess that's been a virtue but also a vice when it comes to getting their just dues. Any musician I have ever heard speak of the group knows the truth about their greatness as a band.
I believe that this is from Black and Blue, which also features a Ronnie James Dio - led Black Sabbath. They were filmed in concert at the Nassau Coliseum. I saw this many years ago at a midnight movie. It's hard to come by now and quite pricey.
I bought this album (actually it was a cassett tape) in high school. Everybody dug it and when I lent it out, it made the rounds and I never got it back. Oh well, at least it was appreciated!

One thing I always loved about BOC is that every member wrote and sang. They were a true band!

@LesSmith45 One of my favorites as well Les. great album as pretty much they all were. Love BOC! So under-rated, what a shame.

@gtate135 Thanks for the reply. They belong in the rock & roll fame along with the Cars, Cheap Trick, Rush and George Thorogood.

Mirrors, a fantastic album. Need a remaster but will NEVER happen.

This sounds like Celine Dion.
FatwNker 3 years ago
Celine Dion? What are you from the Stone Ages? Celine has a great body and voice, she has nothing on BOC.
Mirrors was the second album I ever purchased, the 3rd Band I went to see. Rock on BOC, hope Celine can keep up.

Oops sorry. I meant Michael Bolton.

Boc was at a peak at this time in their career. They never sounded as cohesive as they did from 78 to 81 when Albert left.

I'm trying to figure out how Mirrors is the least favorite album according to critics
dave69812 3 years ago
Because B.O.C took the pop radio friendly song formula to the max beyond what was/is expected from this band.

Eric mentioned Long island. I can't make out the venue. I saw them at Hammerheads, My Father's Place-where is this show at?
