  • bad bad bad suction technique...wrong.very wrong

  • hi my 3 year old son has a trach and he is going to finally get it out and i am happy to read your guys's stories

  • I'm a future nurse, thank you for this video

  • May i ask? How ro remove the tracheostomy tube? is it clockwise or counter clockwise?

  • Hi there i have had my tube for 31 years. I have recently changed styles of tube. My mum did her first tube change of the new tube last week. We were up at the hospital just incase but now we are going back to how we use to do it which was at home.]

I have been suctioning myself since i was around 4 years old. I was always taught how far to push it in how long to hold it in there for. In the end you yourself know your own body and what feels right and what dosent..

  • Thank you so much for posting this video, i'm a healthcare support worker in England and i'm doing my first trach change for my patient tonight and this has been so helpful. You are awesome :)

  • this was very brave and i learned something from it . Thanks for this video.

  • thanks for sharing :)

im an RT 2nd yr student.

one question though, why is your nurse not wearing gloves???

  • Thank you for sharing this video of your trach change. You are very brave. I wish you all the best.

  • @forthereasearch yes it does cause of the cuff on the trach. suctioning doesnt hurt.

  • i need a trach too, sucks hh?

  • Who is this person suctioning you!!!!I hope its not a respiratory therapist!!!I am a licensed respiratory care practitioner and am mortified at how long that suction was, it should not be more than 10 seconds because it will suck up all your oxygen and can cause heart arrythmias...Very bad...

  • @toby43078 hey its ok really its how im suctioned ive been doing it that way for 5 years its better for me in my care it helps me out alot im able to handle it :) so dont worry

  • @toby43078 Some people can breathe while being suctioned. Obviously, he's fine and has been fine with how he is suctioned. It doesn't cause heart arrhythmias.

  • good job homie . hang in there buddy

  • @xJackJeckelx its not that painful...i have to have a trach too...its not too painful, just uncomfortable sometimes

  • it is too painful its hurts the cuff is what makes it painful

  • @bryant19 Apparently I didn't know what I was talking about before. I apparently don't have a cuffed trach so thats why it doesnt hurt me much. I had surgery March 11 and they had to put in a cuffed trach before they put me to sleep. That did hurt ._.
