one of my favorite characters was that Muffy.........lol. these shows now-a-days can't even touch these classic children's show. I also loved Romper Room (i think that was the name of the show) and Zoobalee Zoo........and a few others of course.....lol.
@Foxlocke I know, it's an amazing show. :) TV Ontario's public archive online also posted some episodes. If enough people watch them, they might see there's an interest. :)
I used to have a hat when i was like 2 or 3 years old, it was my Jeff Hat, and when I had it on I was a real boy, and when it was off, I was a mannequin.. I wonder what my analyst would say about that! *woody allen voice*
@Pun2404 When I was a kid I used to pose with the mannequins in the store, actually ended up tricking someone one time, lol. Probably have this show to thank. ;)
I LOVED THIS SHOW, I WANTED MUFFIE'S HOUSE. IT WAS MY DREAM TO GET LOCKED IN AN APARTMENT STORE WHEN I WAS A KID. THIS WAS GREAT T.V MY DAUGHTER WILL BENEFIT FROM POSTINGS LIKE THIS ONE. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
Sam is a shitty security guard. Waldo and Mort manage to break into a closed building and sneak up to the Children's Department unnoticed by that idiot Sam.
I'm in Montreal. I believe I watched this on PBS vermont, ch 57. There was also Sesame Street, Polka Dot Door, Doctor Who (there was some kind of weird and scary computer. I think it was called the ghostreader). There was another show that thought chinese.
You may be thinking of something else, since you lived in Montreal... But did you mean "Ghostwriter?" If it was ghostwriter, it wasn't about a scary computer at all. It was about a friendly glowing ghost orb that could only read and interact with letters. Sometimes he'd posses Jamal's computer to communicate so he'd have an infinite number of letters to use, since he could only communicate with existing physical letters.
@AisuSeijin No, that's not it. The computer was integrated into a wall. It wrote in big white letters on a blue background (just like that Jamal's computer). It talked in a women's voice, loud and robot-like. It was on the first floor of some place and the front door was there and the room was dark. The computer was on the right side of the room. I think there was always these 2 kids who solved problems with the help of the computer.
LOVED this show as a kid! My BF remembered it too but neither of us could remember the name! I found the name today on a different clip and I was like OMG, THAT'S what it was called!
Strange, from 7-11 years old it was, Transformers, GI Joe, Visionaries, and somehow this made it into the line up every weekday for me. I loved this program! Thanks for posting this.
This episode was so lame. What if Sam or Jodie needed to take a giant piss or crap while holding onto the handles???? Would they have to do it on the floor?
I'm curious why they made this episode when they had an earlier episode titled "Opera" (and that episode was the better of the two). IMHO, the later episodes of Today's Special were not as good as the earlier ones. If I were Jeff, and I had a chance to go outside of the store, an opera would not be my first choice of places to go.
This was my favorite show when I was a little girl! This really brought back memories!! I can't believe how this really made my day! And none of my friends know or remember this show, they thought I was crazy!
I completely forgot about this show! I loved it as a kid (good Lord, I feel old now!). I always thought Jodi was so pretty! I didn't realize back then that most of the shows all us 80's kids watched were Canadian-made. They were so great! (I've only come across one person so far who's heard of Zoobilee Zoo). I miss the days of Big Stuff Oreos, Crystal Pepsi, Giggles cookies, and awesome shows like these! Thanks so much for taking me back!
I loved this show when I was little. It was amazing finding this after 20 years of not knowing much about it, but it made me feel like a kid again to watch the intro. I watched it all the time 1987.
Same here! Its really amazing to look at this clip to be thrown back to the days when things on TV just seemed way more exciting, with so many choices, warm and creative (I mean how come shows like this do no exist anymore? Guess its all that tech and internet).
Thank you so much for putting these up, I used to think I imagined watching a whole tv series where a mannequin turned into a man at night...I freaked out when I found this.
@ninjafretshadow Me too! No one remembered this show when I tried to explain they looked at me as if I was crazy lol. Thank goodness I finally found the name of the show! I loved this show, used watched it all the time growing up.
@ninjafretshadow My father said the same thing when I recently asked him about it! I figured he would know seeing as he watched tv with me as a kid...but he thought I was dreaming it lol
@ninjafretshadow For so many years I had no idea what the show was called. People thought I was making it up when I described it lol!! It does exist. I LOVED this show when I was a kid.
omg!! i loved this show too!! i was so obsessed, i would rush home after dropping my older brother off at school with my mom and would cry when i was late..Square One also came on like right after..heehe

Haven't seen it in 20 years+, wow brings back memories!
hoodybeatz, that's great, she's reminding me of someone now after the fact. this stuff was waaay better than the crap that passes now. it was more fun, still had live people, and was a little tripped out
For years I had a memory about this show. I couldn't remember what it was called, I remembered the maniquen, the black lady, and Sam going in the elevator...how cool to see it on youtube!
I used to watch this show when I was 8 or 9, and it took me forever to remember the name, All i could remember is a manequin and a mouse....also this must be one of the longest intros to a tv show ever!
i got a little choked up myself. i used to do the same after getting home from school. i also remember pin wheel or something? the only episode i remember tho was when jeff threw a whole bunch of cards in the air as a way of finding a lost item somewhere in the house. time flies so fast. i miss being a kid.
i cant belive after all these years i randomly typed it in and found it. i totally started to cry a little. i miss those days i came home after school quickly to catch this show and another one called square one T.V fuck i miss the 80s lololol

You have NO idea how happy this video has made me! lol. Nobody I know remembers this show but me and accuse me of making the show up but I was CRAZY about this show growing up. Thanks for making me not crazy! LOL
lol. Same here. I couldn't remember the name of the show, which made the whole "making it up" thing more convincing. this was my favorite as a little kid. I'm 23 now.
Could you post the episode "Phil's Visit" when he gets drunk and crashes his camera into the display. I vividly remember that from my childhood, and would get a kick out of seeing it again!
I, like the other person who commented, watched this with my little sister while growing up. It touches my heart to be "reunited" with old friends! Thank you!
my sister and i used to watch this show all the time! it had to be late 80s early 90s - but whenever i mention it to anyone else they have no idea what i'm talking about! good to see it on youtube! :)
LOL! It kinda creeped me out, too, KIMBOSLICE! I could only remember little bits and pieces of it, and I finally remembered to check it out on YouTube. I used to watch this show every day! So weird...
I always wanted the black woman. I thought she was sexy, I was maybe...well heck I have no idea how old I was, I am 29 anyone know when this show was on?????
Uhhh, other than the fact none of the shows are worth watching? Why don't you tell me why you like to watch Nickelodeon now? Either you have kids or you're retarded.
goddamn im a thugg and i used to watch this shit lol man memories muffy used to cut a rugg to lol lol and i used to wanna work at a department store at night just so a manican(female) would come to life and kick it with a old as man secruity guard smokin weed and a mouse that ryhmes like me lol at we all can eat cheese!!! lol lol lol
one of my favorite characters was that Muffy.........lol. these shows now-a-days can't even touch these classic children's show. I also loved Romper Room (i think that was the name of the show) and Zoobalee Zoo........and a few others of course.....lol.

lol.

Thank you so much for posting "Today's Special".
I, like the other person who commented, watched this with my little sister while growing up. It touches my heart to be "reunited" with old friends! Thank you!

The video is the same, but for some reason the audio (music and dialogue) during the show's opening was redone JUST for this episode.

Uhhh, other than the fact none of the shows are worth watching? Why don't you tell me why you like to watch Nickelodeon now? Either you have kids or you're retarded.

Wow, that brought back about a thousand memories. I seem to remember the intro theme being a lot more exciting though.
