  • The Earth is fucking huge. Why do you need a large house when you can travel all around the planet learning new things?

  • Comment removed

  • I would love to build myself one. I currently live in a one room apartment 14 X 14 with a separate bathroom and closet that I pay over $330 a month rent plus lights, cable, phone and internet. Doing all this while on disability with a limited income. Just being able to eliminate my rent every month would enable me to do so much more.

  • No running water and living on borrowed land, not the best way to do it. Look at the video "how to have a house with no house payments" -----------------> Much better example.

  • @MaliciousSRT in most states any living structure under 400sq feet has to be on a trailer and registered as a recreational trailer, they can not be on a foundation, I got the plan for the video you are talking about and loved it but found out I could not build it in my state.

  • That house seems absolutely PERFECT!!

  • Put a bunch together and you have a trailer park. Big deal. It's not like she can live just anywhere she wants Call it what you want, she's living in a utility trailer. She has to park it on someone else's property to not get a ticket (friends back yard for now). When the friend gets tired of her, she has to find another friend to mooch off of. She probably can't park it on the street for more than a day without getting a ticket. Her only permanent option would be a lot in a trailer park.

  • lol the URL says VAAAAAAAAAAAG

  • I want one!

  • @venusxxblue Make one! You can do it!

  • A very simple living. A truly earth friendly, humble and a simple way of life. :)

  • No shower or bath? Stupid hipster.

  • @cgcgundersen Didn't notice? Stupid poster. LOL

  • God damn dirty hippies

  • This would be awesome if your'e a teen or in her case probably someone who will be single forever but I'm proud of her i wouldn't be able to do this I'd rather crash on a friend's couch if I was broke as hell

  • My home I have to pay 1000.00 rent on top of that I have to pay 450 four kits bills I would like to build me a home like that .

  • We are planning a tiny house raising early next summer. We do not want a giant mortgage, on limited funds. We have found a piece of property, that we can pay cash for and start a micro farm. Zoning laws are a problem though. Having to find an area that we can use straw bale construction is a real pain.

  • I wouldn't complain if it was about 3 times the size of that.. for myself.. I'd Love it

  • awesome. i might have it a bit longer for wife and i with 2 dogs. but great way to live. i lived in a tent in the woods for a year and wish i still did.

  • Where is the shower?

  • The government ended homesteading after only 8% of the land was homesteaded... Now they lease and sells whats left to corporations and foreigners... There is the problem. We are being forced into the cities... and having to make do with less...

  • yo i feel her... im 25 and moved from california to built my 3 rooms 2 car garage 1 den may a 1/4 and acor and wierd or nothing.b ut wen i look at its not me.i need jus a bed room size or a trailor size home for me and i have plans n two yard to finish all my bugeting and start builting my new home

  • cool if u put it in someones back garden ....a slum if u put them all together

  • Its a trailer ... glorified.

So our culture still looks down on "trailers" so I am going to watch this whole "tiny house" phenom with interest to see how and why it gets a better reception in our culture than "trailers". The crappy economy may also play a factor as more people get pushed into "trailers" and other "alternatives" and thus becomes less a negative stereotype. Next Problem: How to make them energy efficient PER PERSON??

  • Until her friend's HOA kicks her out...

  • i love it! i wish i could talk to this person and learn how she did it. i want to build one for myself soon :)

  • @firemystic76 This website sells the plans to make similar ones: tumbleweedhouses. com/

And there is a man on youtube that says that he made a little house for a college graduate who lives with his parents for around $1200 (but say how). Hope this helps :)

  • @firemystic76 Oops sorry, the man actually just build something more like a little room

  • Cool. For myself, a nice travel trailer works just as well.

  • looks good!

  • I live in a 1100 sqft condo but want something smaller and greener.

  • i call this muching off your friends property

  • you can buy these as well not too expensive...

  • I want to marry this woman

  • I WANT ONE..WHY NOT RIGHT? SHIT IS GOING UP IN THIS COUNTRY (U.S.A.)

  • its cool but not that special really when you consider how many people live in house trucks and vans all over the place. And they usaully just get called smelly gyspsys not praised for their low impact. meh

  • where's the shower? 0_0

  • @Swampertchamp Drink a lot of water and hold your penis straight up

  • True respect. Imagine how many of these homes we could fit in an average lot. We wouldn't have had the housing crisis!

  • If most of humanity had the modesty in this womans attitude, we would be living in a much better world.

  • Very smart woman!

  • I kinda like it.

  • These are far more popular than many realize and with this economy and more and more people choosing to stay single its a win win.

  • This lady absolutely rocks, she is my inspiration. I hope to have a house like hers one day.

  • @cadmiumblue lol one day? work for a year and you will have money left over.

  • @adetuyi420 I have a shitty job that doesn't even pay 10k a year, so yes, one day.

  • Did she ask the new owners of her previous house if she could rent the backyard?

  • i want 1

  • I'm live in WA. I wasn't surprised when they said this freak was from Olympia. She is bitching about housing prices. Well stop voting in liberals who support people with poor credit buying houses.

  • @Warpath2198 I like it when people who know nothing use their own ignorance as a foundation for their anger. It's adorable.

  • i seen this, or something very similar mentioned on discovery for like 30 grand... :S

  • More power to her. She has done it for all the right reasons (a simpler life and being able to give more money to her family and friends). I would seriously consider living in a place like this in the future.

  • THIS IS SO AWESOME! I'm so selling my house I just bought. 125000, 1700 sqft and it's TOO big for me. I'm single and I got too much space plus, the 35k gallon pool in the back yard is a pain and a huge money pit not worth it. After I fix it up, get it all nice, sell it for about 25k profit (got a steal on the house) and buy a tiny house just with the profit. Wow... I'd have so much spending money and it would be so simple.

  • @PhoenixPhire22 i am about to bribe my bf to build me one..

  • Good for her, really. Less of a strain on resources at least.

The walls are paper thin though - it probably gets freezing cold during the winter.

  • Or you could just use Insulated Shipping Container.

  • The only thing missing is a greenhouse for growing her own food.

  • Europian homes are the new wave. Especially when tornados, hurricanes and floods are taking those MACRO MANSIONS and turning them into tooth picks while we can pick up our home and move anywhere we need to. Try that with your house. Awesome Dee.

  • The bank's they will go in bankruptcies if we are doing this... lol I'm sure they don't like her ....

  • So cool.

  • is it strange i find her personaloty and outlook on life and herself quite attractive

  • Everything except for that toilet is awesome. Dunno if I'd want yesterday's lunch chasing me around the house for hours at a time.

  • good 4 u Dee!

  • her and bubbles from trailer park boys should meet.

  • wow

  • I would like to find Dee's plans, if any. I will be homeless in 2 mos. and would love this. I am single. It would be perfect.

  • thats actually kind of a nice house hahah

  • Most of my life I would have said this was crazy. Now that I am passing middle age, I think this is great. Out of pure curiosity, I would like to know her history. Did she ever have a big house? Did she lose a house. Just curious? Just wondering what direction she came into this from.

  • That's where u want be, your friend's back yard!

  • 10 000$ seems like 5000$ too much.

  • That's adorable!

  • Another guy did this before her. Exact same layout/concept.

  • @tlxxxsracer she bought the plans from him, Jay Shafer

  • I applaud her. We don't need a bunch of material possessions to legitimize us.

  • @the8to5exodus oh yes we do !! you've lost according to good old america ! I couldn't agree more with you.

  • is she looking for a man? I would love to do that

  • LOL!!!! smart woman! no bills....no rent....whole paycheck for you!

  • I have lived with my wife and son in 144sf and loved it. Indoor plumbing was a goal but not yet a reality. The simple life never gets the credit that it deserves. It is a lot easier to live with less than it looks. I encourage all to give it a try.

  • My bedroom is 336 sq ft, how the fuck could people live in 84 sq ft, so ridiculous......time to move somewhere else if housing is too expensive there.

  • @Zombl337 easily.you just dont get it.

  • i love this home

  • I want to do this.

  • Ten thousand dollars??? That's too much money for that!

  • @zcg3 trailer is about 1500 - 3000. My shed same size insulated was 3K. I think she did fine.

  • 1:29 thumbs up if your a fan of Harry Potter

  • Well, her energy costs cant be that bad. Although entertaining must be a bitch!

  • Holy crap! If you combine this womans idea with polygamy we may have something!

  • @0HippyHunter0 polygamy means men having more than one wife. why would you want to marry?

  • @smellex1231 There are many aspects of polygamy that are desirable. 1) Women will fight amongst themselves. 2) Since women are right 100% of the time, there are more people to blame; not just the husband. 3) If you stick them all in these little houses and I live in a huge house that they pay for, we have an amazing arrangment. Obviously I would invent a bullshit church to ordain the marriage as marrying any woman legaly is financial/emotional suicide.

  • @0HippyHunter0 I plan to have 10 husbands, then I don't have to work :)

  • My wife's mother and sister, two people, live in a space about the same size. It's called poverty.

  • @555pontifex great post.

  • This is what I am working on getting.....just something small and affordable. A big house is nice, but who wants to make the mortgage payments? Not me anyways.

Good on you for doing what you want.

  • Whoa!

    -G

  • This is truly creditable, appreciable, and a great example of doing what you decide to do, just for simplicity, your values, and your zest to do something you desire - not crib about what you don't have, but GO ahead and do it. I am really in awe of this woman, and I really wish I get a chance to see such a house in real and appreciate her on this. Simply Great.

We usually crib and sob that I don't have what I want, but I learnt today that you can get what you want, if you perceive it.

  • Sort of thing, it's easier if you're young, free and single. The only problem for her will be when she gets older and may not be as mobile to be able to climb up those steps every night. Great idea though.

  • I'm sure she only sleeps there.

  • I like that idea superjerkyboys is a pos

  • This is just for show, she doesn't really live in there, she goes to here friends house to get away from her claustrophobic house.

Then they rub titties together and muff dive each other.

If she lived in this house Ted Kazinski style than I would believe her BS.

  • That is one ugly dog.

  • how about a curtain for the bathroom nook and shades for the skylights. she should definitely get a solar heater for winter.

  • Smart on many levels.

  • This woman is brilliant!

  • such an elegant little home

  • I'd prefer a yurt. i'ts much more packable

  • go and meet bbw ask them what they need just now naneedj.info

  • thats a woman after my own heart ,come to england well disappear into the sunset, with our dogs n F.T.W,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,YAHO0O0O0O0O0O0

  • The problem of living in a home like this is the toilet and water. But other than that, it's perfect. I'd love to live like that. But a little more room for more than one person.

  • I would love to live like this! more people should think like this due to hard times.

    smart livng !

  • does that look sexy?.......no...

  • @lmao8885 Is that the point? ... No...

  • Oh! I want one of these out in the woods of Montana somewhere! Of course I would need AK47s facing the 4 winds, and malamutes on point in the driveway to make it complete. I am an old woman after all.

  • fabulous- so cool.....

  • I want one of those !! Me and the wife get into it , i would just go kick it in the small house for a few days !!

  • I really like your repurposing of discarded materials and the respect you show for the environment, cool concept.

  • @redsurfspider

Oh spare us your brainwashed terminology and your insincere, leftist idiocy.

I'm going to cut a perfectly good tree down, just because you typed that.

  • @Rick258442 No you're not, rightwingers are too out of shape, you couldn't even cut paper.

  • @glassesfreak Yeah, if you saw me coming, you would walk across the street.

  • this is the life I want to live. I can use the money to travel instead or go paddling with my team. I might get complacent though if maintenance is that cheap.

  • Great story, she is true to her self good luck :)

  • they should build these for homeless people!

i am thinking though maybe they could build them

from cargo containers, that way they can be stacked on top of each other

    to save space.

  • @infinus5

Developers in Vancouver actually thought of that, but it's getting the permits and the red tape that's problematic.

  • @cody1800212 They cost about 20 grand...if youre still interested Messege me and ill send u a special link :D

  • @whateverujoke ha ha ha, another mental case

  • Really well done. I love the loft. I spent a weekend at Sally's Pacific Star Winery on the ocean bluffs North of Fort Bragg, Ca. Her little cottage is very similar, maybe smaller. You have to try it to find how well small and cozy can be. It was cold and stormy with huge crashing waves nearby but the tiny house was delightfully warm. This small house idea should really catch on...

  • If I were single I'd do this in a heartbeat....then again if I did this, I probably would be single in a hurry...LOL

  • @practicalwhacktical and stay that way lol

  • i want a tiny house 2 live by myself. cost of living is low.

  • Awesome, I wish more people would be like this.

  • WHATS HER MENTAL STATE?

  • @bykashka75 she suffers from intelligence

  • @VinceKato i bet she does, and lack of male attention

  • @bykashka75 alright, if you wanna pay rent/mortgage ie. pay just to live, because you want a place more spacious go right ahead

  • @VinceKato Maybe better paying job will do the trick? of couse if you work in Mcdonalds and think it as a carrier, i bet you will pay rent or morgage. but in her case she is down right mentally not there

  • As long as she's happy that's all that matters.

  • I want one

  • my question is what she does for running water, and where waste water goes. she is very fortunate to be able to live in someones backyard. id love to do this, and could very easily build one myself, but the biggest hurdle is having a place to park it and have water. i had considered setting up a rain harvesting system, thatd be pretty easy, but the geographical location of where to put this new 'house' is the problem. every state has property taxes (which is fucked up). anyone have ideas?

  • @jw11432 a water hose can be rigged very easily & sewer can be dumped directly into a sewage clean out. this is all legal & if need be tapping into a sewage pipe is not hard you can use very inexpensive materials to remain within code.

  • @circusboy90210 well sure, a water hose could do the job, assuming youre within range of a supply, like this woman, im sure thats what she does. i suppose she may have a small septic tank, too? how about where to park one of these things if you arent fortunate enough to know someone with land? :)

  • @jw11432 rv parks have hookups & also you can park in national parks then poop in the woods like a bear. flea markets cost about $250 with water/septic/electricity free

  • @jw11432 Alaska has no property taxes. Actually, the government pays you about $1000 a year just to live in Alaska. And if you find some place in southern Alaska, the climate is not too bad. The southern parts of Alaska have high levels of rainfall, as well, perfect for water collection.

  • @DevonWhorton i just looked that up. it appears that it depends on the region; the larger areas, there are in fact property taxes, however, the smaller regions rely upon sales tax for local governmental revenue. pretty cool though, certainly keeping that information close at hand.

  • " Not many parties happening there ."

    The party would be outside!

  • So cool. I have to say when I saw this I couldnt wipe the smile off my face. Sometimes simple is better. All the best.

  • she could make bank selling those on ebay

  • Not many parties happening there .

  • I love the loft/sleeping area with the view of the night sky. I may look into this way of life...

  • That's a big parking space.

  • Very cool! The bigger the house, the more everything costs. I can see a big house for a large family, but who wants to spend all of their time indoors?

  • we had a 3000 square foot home. we finished raising the kids and wanted the simple life. we have been full time in our 5Th wheel RV for 4 years now. we control how much we spend or don't spend. no mortgage, homeowner insurance or taxes. we have some luxuries sat TV Internet, etc, but if things go real bad we can live v very cheep. we have a nice spot with modest rent and utilities. it is nice to be in control of our lives and not slaves to society. we live in campgrounds or where ever we want.

  • It would be wonderful to live like this! It would be like camping all year round. She has everything she needs right there in that tiny space. It goes to show, we really don't need as much as we think we do in order to survive and even thrive happily.

  • Now that's the way to live if you are single!

  • Way to Go Dee :0)

I think this is an incredible story....such a simple life! This women has no bills, imagine feeling so free. I can see that she has a very kind heart and enjoys the life she has built for herself..

  • she is a powerful woman

  • ...yeah, or get a trailer?

  • wow wow wow i want to live like that

    it would be so nice

  • This lady probably just wanted to know what it was like to live in a college dorm..

  • well done

  • want to meet you....you rooccckkkkk!!!

  • Do not let Al Gore watch this.

  • 1:29 She's reading the best Harry Potter book and lives in an awesome home that she built herself...how cool can you get?

  • so what... homeless live in smaller all the time, they dont put them on tv

  • The question shouldn't be "why?", but why not? Can you imagine if there is a hurricane or a fire, all she would have to do is attach to the home to an automobile and zoom! She's out of there with all her worldly possessions. Not to mention if she gets bored and wants a change of scenery, hook the car to the house and gone! Luv it!

  • good for you .............

  • Amazing!!

  • She's cute. I'd love to move in with her. I wouldn't take up hardly any room either .. I'd always be on top of her.

  • they make it sound like she built it, but in reality her husband did,

  • Best woman of the world!

  • Awesome. An American ascetic. And Dee is real. Her building skills are extraordinary. Her interior space managment is great. She has to be a believer, if not she is an example of what the Lord's people ought to be doing instead of indulging in materialism to their own hurt.

  • You are so ahead of the times. Small answer, big solution. Thanks for this post.
