You are right about the loss of the person - the skill for professionals is to retain the dignity and respect for the person on the journey of this terminal condition.
Hi Richard, My Dad is 83 and was recently admitted to a full time senior's care facility here in Canada. He has dementia likely caused by Parkinsons and I've watched his decline for about 5 years now. Very sad as he was once a brilliant guy!
Many thanks - sorry to hear about your dad and I am sure he is receiving the very best care and support - a loss is very much in what you say the uniqueness of the person is often lost but comes back in small doses from time to time.
