if I was at this concert, at the first notes of Jones, I would be fall to the ground and cried in disbelief that the music could still have this power today.
some guy in the grocery store asked me what my favorite zeppelin song was (i was wearing a zeppelin t-shirt) and i told him i don't really have one...then immediately he accused me of being a fake zeppelin fan...then i accused him of being one because a true zeppelin fan knows that there are so many great songs to only choose one favorite...after thinking about it for a few seconds his head exploded, and right after a voice came over the speaker system and said "cleanup on isle 8"
@Cajunninja65 HA ! Now THAT is funny ! You can't ask anyone what their favorite song is by their fave band that has well over a hundred songs ! (no matter what band)... cuz if you have an answer, you are NOT a true fan !
By the way... I have many Zep complete 3 hour bootlegs. Want some ? FREE !!! I pay postage ! I'm just happy to share. (And the greatest No Quarter is a 27 min. version from Seattle '75... just let me know !)
even though without the great john bonham this concert has the very same characteristics back in 73 where the stage is dark and each band member has their own "character" playing their instruments. JPJ on the keyboard like a magician, JP on the guitar out of this world, and RP singing to hypnotize you = audience with dropped jaws
I assume Page wasn't happy with the performance or possibly the footage or how it was captured, otherwise why did the DVD never come out?? There appears to be pro camera men everywhere...
@Snitsie labels like that are words invented by the lowest life form , the music critic .They will make these words up in order to describe an entire movement or genre of music , because it makes their already worthless jobs easier . Why do people think all music has to be categorized ?
Because that's human nature. Humans need to categorize things in order to understand them. If you didn't categorize music, it would be one gigantic mess. Everyone would have to buy/download random music hoping they liked it.
If you had said, labels like "progressive post-avant jazzcore" is an invented unnecesary genre, i'd have agreed. That's made up by music critics to look interesting/smart. A simple genre as progressive rock however is needed to distinguish different types of music.
@enlightening No amigo! ¿qué más hubiese querido? Pero eso precisamente motivó a varios de nosotros a hacer algo para tener idea de lo que fué estar ahí adentro.
@ProgHead777 Im very sorry about that my friend, but I think sometimes the terms can blind some people that just don´t recognize the power of this band; it was more than a term, it was exactly what ROCK should mean!!! :)
@kickpedal Thanks to you my friend for watching and enjoying it!! I´m so glad that you all Zeppelin fans liked it a lot!! And well, it is great to be "unproductive" at work sometimes!! :)
Without a doubt ,the best version of No Quarter that I have ever heard... Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones ,John Bonham and Robert Plant are still the best musicans to ever take the stage IMO.. Of course, Jason Bonham played at the O2 and did a fantastic job. I think his daddy would have been very proud of his performance..
plant voice is weak but the sound over all is amazing i never understand why artists like these can not produce masterpieces like this when they go over 30 years of age maybe is cause brain cells no more
they are all amazing, but jonesy has been the only one to continue improving so much. testimony of this, is this very song. look up the 1973 version, then the 1975 version.
@aripahs I agree. I tripped so many times to the only two versions I was aware of when I was but a waif (Zoso & TSRTS)....bootlegs were almost impossible to find. Now hearing how this song developed into a show centerpiece makes me happy for all of the fans 'out there' these days....the Seattle '77 is a nice one:)
very deep ,very heavy, ghostly spin tingling. This is my personal Favorite song. Great job on the audio enhancements. You really brought it out to the point it feels like your really there. now only if they'd tour america!
What a great version - Bonham Jnr holds it together really well & the keyboards are really haunting - Please Please Please tour & make sure you get that vocalist along - It just will not be the same without him.
lol well, obviosly... i know em all, it was just that you said "make sure you get 'that' vocalist along"... it sounded weird to me because what other vocalist would they use, if they tour with a different singer, they won't be called led zeppelin
No modern music can bring feelings like this ... because it all sounds the same ... but Led Zeppelin is a Style for their own and thiswhy the music will survive for ever!
This is fantastic, it makes the heckles stand up on the back of my neck! I would have sold my grandmother for a ticket to this... thanks for posting this vid
I like how they took the key down a step or so. Makes it even more intense. Even more eerie....Love it! If they go on tour, I don't care what it'll cost, I'll be there!
plant seemed to struggle with the big wail at the start of each chorus. it was a little rusty the first time, and the second time he held it for about two seconds and then just gave up. he sounded stellar during that 90-second finale, though. the piano work by jones was beautiful as always. i won't be a nitpicker cause this really is awesome.
Even in their 60's Led Zeppelin gives all new meaning to the term HARD ROCK. that is something none of the shit bands of today can even think about coming close. LONG LIVE LED ZEPPELIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
