I'm a Chico grad and I can tell you that everything said is true. BUT, it would be nice for the YouTube Nation to put the GREAT things that Chico State is known for online. Academics, social responsibility, athletics. I was there before texting, before Pioneer week was discontiniued and I can say that CHico is one of the best colleges, academically in California. BTW, the party schedule has always been Thursday thru Saturday, homework on Sunday.

I'm from Chico and I totally agree with you. As a university its a really good school. But for some reason, maybe due to the college town atmosphere, they feel the need to party. And they don't even think when they do. They're just mindless drinking machines. Its sad that they don't take education seriously. Some even end up at the local community college because those professors are strict. But anyways, its sad how shallow they really are. That school deserves more than those damn greeks.

Chico State gets bad publicity because TV news stations like THIS ONE only publicize the college when bad things happen. oh there was a rape or a riot and it gets national coverage but when Chico state is recognized as one of the greenest and environmentally friendly campuses in California or the fact that Chico's Nursing & Music programs are some of the best of any college on the west coast you don't hear TV news stations broadcasting that out in the mainstream media.

Chico is a great friendly town with beautiful parks. Robin Hood filmed here in '38. A big reason for the partying is because Chico State, downtown Chico, and the fraternities and sororities are all in close proximity. There are so many bars within walking distance of campus. Because Chico has a party reputation young people from other communities come here to party. I like the Chico State students. They are smart and work hard. I've lived here for over 30 years. I worked on campus for 26 years.

Chico is a great place to live and go to school.  I graduated from there. There's a lot of smart students there and great programs. The campus is green and there is a creek that runs right through campus. Flowers and trees everywhere.

Students can take a stroll in the park, go to take a bite down town and make it in time for their next class. That's why it's such a cool place. And here people are not stuck up. Anyone on the street passing you would just say "what's up", and smile. So on. It's not like in those cities where people just ignore you.

I live in Chico, yes these parties occur, but there is a crazy district and a calm district. I came from out of town to go here, had a fantastic experience, willingly avoided the party scene, have never "blacked out", and after college decided to stay, I now work at Chico State and this is just the loudest scene, not the ONLY seen. There are great things happening here. And media reports like this encourage wannabe partiers to attend here because they seek the crazy, the crazy doesn't seek them.

First off, I'm not making any assumpitions here. I've met one person out of 500 that was actually at CSU for studing and didn't participate in the party life. I know that the school has a much larger number of students, but that doesn't change that the number of subjects I've dealt with has had a very bad ratio of "Good v Bad"
