That is a Meta Ball mesh. Spacebar > Add > Meta > Meta Ball. You can add another on top of the others or just duplicate them, then animate them. Gives a sort of Cell Multiplication effect (Mitosis). Good luck and happy Blendering!
There are 2 ways. For direct fluid simulation reversing, go to the fluid control under Object panel (F7 twice) and with your Fluid Domain object selected (make sure you have domain enabled) select reverse in the Fluid panel.
OR
Go to Sequence editor (CTRL + Right Arrow x2), add a scene (Space > Scene) to the editor and select it, then press F10 x2 to go to the sequencer buttons, and select "Flip Time" under the Filter panel.
