  • Beautiful....I have decied to stick with Love, Hate is to great a beden to bear....Mlk

  • why dey hate us so back then????

  • Everything so perfect about this recording!

Rev. Purcell Perkins and Archie Brownlee were two of the greatest shouters!

This version is just as powerful and great as the earlier version The Blind Boys had recorded for Excelsior Label.

The bass singer joseph Ford was the uncle of one of the singers from the soul group The Manhattans.

All the Coleman Label recordings were the finest and most intense songs that were ever recorded!

from Charlie LaRocco, the biggest Percell Perkins fan.

  • @allaboutrecords

Hi there, was just browsing some things on the net about my grandfather, Rev. Purcell "PL" Perkins. It was really nice to see that you are a fan of the man that raised me. God Bless!

  • Yahoo just told me why so many blues singers are blind, interesting explanation.

  • Pl perkins and Archie Brownlee were a powerful one two punch.Makes me think of Ira Tucker and James Walker of the Hummingbirds who were some hard leads!

  • As much as I like this version, the RH Harris version is even better. And that is from a major fan of Archie Brownlee.

  • Don't never turn back no more! HALLELUJAH!!!

  • thank god for mothers

  • Sam Cooke said Brownlee was the only singer who could bring him to tears.

  • Rev. P.L. Perkins was too a great singer. He help develop this style of singing.

  • He was the most amazing singer of all time!

  • Archie Brownlee was ferocious!

  • A ferocious BEAST!
