Is this really going to help us significantly affect the target's ability to present a lethal threat; or are we just passing time until once again we can significantly affect the target's ability to present a lethal threat
You cant train for real gun fight. That is the problem. When you realize the person is shooting real lead at you, most people start spraying lead all over. That 99 score from the target range goes to 1 in 20 to even hit the target let alone center mass for most people. Most gunfight are closer then 7 feet. Most people practice at 35 to 50 feet, and never practice a 7 feet and less.
go watch shootout videos with cops, 90% (my estimate thank you) kept good tactical edges on their enemies, and in interviews they all say their training kicked in, like saying armor doesn't save lives... shut up and go nagg somewhere else, lady. try shooting out with a competition shooter like bob leatham and you will be sreved, why? cause the TRAINING!
@samatention True that shooting a paper target that doesn't shoot back is alot different than shooting a live target that does shoot back but a little training goes a lon way, you may not be on your A game but if you keep a level head the training comes into play and your alot better of with it as oppose to without it, unless of course the training you got was a joke.
While I can respect the skill demonstrated here... consistently returning the weapon to your holster during training is a bad idea. You'll echo that movement in the field and get blasted by the guy you didn't see until too late.
How else do you test your ability to present from the holster and fire accurately, if you don't put it back in the holster? Lots of things are different in the field. I.e. the targets are moving, they aren't numbered, no one is telling you what to shoot, etc.

Hey, where can I get some of those targets?

make it by your self.
Ruler and marker do the trick, it's cheaper, and you can make target by your specs. or needs...
I tryed, so I recomend...
