  • Lol just had both removed in june. If u hav any questuons hit me up. Im 16. One thing i can tell you, severe bunion or not, recovery WILL br close to excruciating, based on your pain tolerance. Once that numbing agent wears off from the surjury, maybe it wears off mid-sleep, u willl wake up, and it is not a good time. Youre thinking "maybe he just had REALLY bad bunions" it doesnt matter. Its gunna hurt but gradually gets better. I feel great right now!!

  • Post OP about 10 days. You better be ready and able for a LOT of down time. The dr. in this vid. mentioned numbing the foot post op wish my anistesioligist did this for me. I woke up screaming and after 4 to 5 shots of god knows what I woke up in observation. Stayed there 2 days on morphine. Sent home on crutches which sucks. Got a wheelchair and bedside potty and used then about 10 days. Still use the wheelchair. Pain meds. are very imp. take as prescribed and take at the time available , if y

  • My podiatrist said surgery isnt an option, but im only 15 and don't want to live my life wearing ugly shoes!

Does anybody know if I could still have surgery?

  • I am only 11 and I have a HUGE bunion and I have always had it. it will be my b-day soon and I want to get the surgery. I went to the shoe store and could not buy any of them!!!! Sometimes I can not do P.E. Any one who wants to discuss this with me more just reply there are few people with these bunions so we have to stick together!!!

  • omg, im only 13 and i have a bunion

  • SAME HERE i hav had bunions my whole life and even being 13 its hard CUZ I LOVE SPORTS.

  • omg are you serious! your 13 too? yeah, im 13 and i have a bunion! ugh, it sucks. but i dont have it on my big toe. i have it on my small toe. they call it a "bunion-ette"

  • ya its really hard. i mean theree are so many shoes i wud love to get but just cant cause it hurts so much!

  • Same, I cant even wear trainers that are round at the front because they still hurt, and I have to get a size bigger to fit my insoles I got of my podiatirst.

  • I am 15, and the podiatrist was shocked because he said I was very young to have them, he would have a heart attack with you!

I also have one on my little toe, and big toe on both feet and arthritis in my legs and one leg is longer than the other... lucky us ai?

  • i have horrible bunions, overlapping toe BECAUSE OF IT. my big toe touches my fourth toe, the one right before the pinky, it bends so far under. hurts like hell sometimes and i've had them my whole life.

  • My little toe goes under, and made the skin hard, and when I walk loads it cracks and bleeds and liquid comes out of it...

    Very painful

  • It hurts even just reading about your toe. You might want to have surgery to get that fix. But the doc is right, it will come back if you're not careful.

  • I had Osteomyelitis when i woz little so i dont know if that affects it. I had a bunion on my left foot only since i woz lyk 7/8 but it might have been longer than that... we cant really put a date on it. but i've always worn correct shoes for my feet. i've heard they can be inherited, but to get to the point, iz there anything i can do, i already do excercises. is surgery the only way? if so how, much is it? and how long does it take to recover? sorry 4 all the questions, lol.

  • I've had bunions since..god knows when, and i'm just 15. It hurts.

  • I was scheduled for Bunion surgery a few months ago but was deployed. Its going to be a while before i return. The military Dr said it was a pre existing condition so it can wait.Walking around in boots all the time is making it worse.

  • yes boots make em worse and so do converse...im due in march i hope im asleep during surgery

  • Thank you for posting this. I am having this surgery tomorrow, and this helps a great deal.

  • Is it possible for you to post a video of a patient having their sesamoid bones removed? It's difficult to find such video thanks!

  • All my life I have worn proper fitting compfortable shoes. Maybe once a year I will wear pointed toe shoes but they are off my feet more than on. Why do I have bunions on both feet?

  • Bunions are quite common but most irritating. They are caused by an inflammatory process that may or may not be related to shoe apparel. If they cause you discomfort we recommend seeing a specialist in this area. Dr Jonathon Saluta can be reached at (213) 482-2992 or a podiatrist as well- Dr. Wm Pagliano at (213) 481-1888. Please let us know if we can help you further... and best health to you.

  • The root cause of bunions is a hereditary misalignment of the first and second metatarsal bones. The metatarsals are the long bones that connect the ankle to the toes. Shoes that don't fit properly can make the situation worse more quickly. But don't let anyone tell you that tight shoes alone are the cause!

  • Thank you. I have only worn shoes that are typically bad for my feet maybe once a year for company banquets and then my shoes are off for most of the night. In the last 3 years I have worked a job requiring me to be on my feet for 10 hours a day but my shoes have always been good fitting and very comfortable. I did see a bunion surgery in progress one day at work and decided I would suffer with the pain before getting surgery.

  • Yes, call 1-800-977-7989, and ask for Andrew Dillard. He will help in finding a physician that will work for you and your insurance.

  • Do you have any podiatric surgeons in your group as well?
