I can't believe this Christal Dixon person still goes on there whining that she's been fired from her job. If someone said constistently racist and hateful things to her she would not only ask but EXPECT her employer to do something about this. At this poitn I don't CARE what she thinks, whether she feels entitled to spout her hate or not. White supremacists and the KKK certainly felt entitled to hate. But what she needs to understand is that the hate must stop. And it must stop NOW.
I was recently fired from my job because of my freelance newspaper editorial/youtube video preaching against the wrong ways of certain women. You can see this revelation in the video called "What Women Want is Worship".
My complaints in the media had nothing to do with my job and did not violate any company rules- as confirmed by the unemployment commission ruling in my favor.
So-called "Christians" are not being silenced; they are being asked to be HONEST and RATIONAL, which apparently they cannot manage. Every time the "Christian" agenda of ramming their chosen religious lifestyle down everyone else's throats, by force if necessary, is challenged, the "religious" reich throws a hissy fit. They think they have special rights to control other people, even tho' people of good moral character find the "Christian" agenda of oppression and hatred to be deeply deviant.
@MattFrame What about your "ramming" your ideology down our throats? I guess free speech is only "free" if it agrees with your position. You are the ones who have been aggressively touting your position for the past 40 years or so. The people of the homosexual agenda are the ones who want to RE-DEFINE marriage, not us.
@kyleshaffer13 shrieks, "What about your "ramming" your ideology down our throats? I guess free speech is only "free" if it agrees with your position"
If you could try to be rational, no one is denying your freedom of expression or right to live your own life as you see fit. You just don't deserve the special right to force your agenda of oppression, by force of law, onto other free citizens. "Christians" only defined marriage to suit their agenda. It's been changed many times.
@MattFrame Listen Matt, that is EXACTLY what happened to this lady at the University. She was being silenced because her viewpoint was not being tolerated. At the same time, your pro homosexual veiwpoint was not only tolerated, it was praised. What about that is fair?
The definition of marriage has been the same the entire history of mankind until only a very small minority of individuals have tried to redefine it. Let us agree on the meaning of words for arguments sake.
@kyleshaffer13 claims, "She was being silenced because her viewpoint was not being tolerated."
Well, she spoke her mind & wrote her piece. Other people pointed out the fallacies & already-dispoven myths of her argument. Should she have been fired? Not if she was able to do her job well, outside of her personal beliefs. Keep in mind that when "liberal" commentators write something that conservatives disagree with, they often get into hot water too. Intolerance runs both ways.
@MattFrame So you think she should have been fired for her personal beliefs?
As far as "already disproven myths" that is simply not true. First of all, if it is a "myth" it doen't need to be proven false. But it is not a myth, but a viewpoint which has in no way been "proven" to be wrong. Show me the valid argument from logic, and the supporting evidence where her viewpoint has been proven wrong. Where is your proof?
@kyleshaffer13 asks, "So you think she should have been fired for her personal beliefs?"
I've already said no, she has the right to her beliefs and should not be fired for expressing them. It's important to read and understand what people actually write, in order to avoid getting confused and then spreading false ideas about their viewpoint.
@MattFrame I didn't understand what you wrote, that is why I asked the question, Matt. And furthermore, have I spread false ideas about you, Matt? No I have not.
@kyleshaffer13 continues, "if it is a 'myth' it doen't need to be proven false."
I agree it shouldn't HAVE TO be. However, even tho' the absurd myth of sexual orientation being a "choice" has been resounding disproven by every credible medical, scientific, psychological source, dishonest "Christians" still try to spread it as truth. Their agenda is more important than truth or honesty. It's like you pretending that rancid anti-liberal views represent "liberal thinking" Absurd.
@MattFrame You didn't answer my question if you think the lady should have been fired for her beliefs.
As far as these "studies" that you so vigorously state "prove" your point, please give me some examples.
Besides, that's not my argument. If I was born with a gene that caused me to "murder" someone, would that make it right? You see whether or not I am born with a predisposition to act a certain way, does not absolve me of the culpability of my actions.
@MattFrame You think our rights come from ourselves? It would be much easier, in a one sense I think, if we didn't actually believe anything that the Bible says. But for good reasons, WE DO believe and feel those morals have actually been given to us by the Creator who made us, and he says that ALL sin is deviant. That is our belief. It is where we get them. You can disagee with our source, the Bible, but you can not say we think we have special rights, hate you, or are deviant.
@kyleshaffer13 says, "WE DO believe (in the Bible) and feel those morals have actually been given to us by the Creator who made us, and he says that ALL sin is deviant."
Christians have the right to live according to the tenets which they feel are part of their religion. They should also have the right to speak their minds freely. They just don't have the right to oppress or denigrate anyone else for not acquiescing to the principles they espouse. That would be a special right.
@MattFrame You are the one asking for the "special right." You are not being "discriminated" against by the law. You have the freedom to marry anytime you want. But the law states there are limits on whom you can marry. You can't marry your sister, animals, and the same sex, (in most states) for example.
But you are asking for an exception to be made by changing the very definition of marriage. So, you have all the freedoms we have, you just want MORE freedoms.
@kyleshaffer13, your dishonest spins have already been dealt with and shot down, by the rational among us, by the courts, by everyone with an education. Continue denying reality as you wish. The world will, and has, moved on without you. Sorry.
@MamaMario13 There is a God, you just suppress that truth in your unrighteousness. Morality is defined by God, otherwise your morality is meaningless, along with any statement you make concerning it. It is unfounded and has no basis to determine anything.
@ronathanedwards tell that to richard dawkins, hitchens, harris or stephen hawkins. you nutters think morality is blowing up abortion clinics, you literally make me sick
@MamaMario13 Though murdering unborn babies for convenience sake is hanus crime, blowing them up is horrible also. Guilt by association is a bad argument. LOL Stephen Hawkins is going to Church in Cambridge LOL. My good morals makes you sick? Yet you grasp what has always been considered deplorable behavior? In the last days they will call good what is evil and evil what is good. Dawkins has no basis for morality either, it's embarrassing.
And yes, I DARE compare the civil rights of LGBT individuals now to the civil rights of black people in the 1960s. It's the same thing. Plain and simple. We deserve full equality, not 2nd rate citizenship.
SILENCING CHRISTIANS??? When Christians are imposing their ideology, often hateful when it comes to LGBT individuals, on every one of us? You have GOT to be kidding me. As for Chrystal, good for her. Her hateful ideology has no place in positions of power. Let's end discrimination. And let's end it NOW!!!
@Skulander1 You are the ones who have imposed YOUR ideology towards the Christians. Our veiwpoint has been the status quo and universally accepted position for almost the entirety of history, and in most of the world today, STILL the majority opinion.
Much more specifically, does the First Ammendment only protect YOUR veiwpoint?
@kyleshaffer13 No no, atheists are not the ones imposing their ideology on others. Christians are the ones bullying their way to make sure people act and think exactly like them. You can do wathever you want, dear. I won't meddle into your daily life. But don't meddle in mine. And don't impose your ideas on me and other atheists.
Im black and Im Christian and I have Gay friends., however when one of them compared the gays rights movement to the black civil rights movement I told him straight out how dare he and if he could walk down the street for just one day as a black man he would know the difference! After discussing the finer points even he and his partner agreed with my point of view and I have personally seen them rebuke other gays who use the black comparison..., it is downright offensive!
@mysty0 Black Christians are already gay for loving a man by the name of Jesus. You also tug on your black python snake with your man hands when making love to your own body.
@mysty0 Right on, man, Right on. One is a behavior, the other is a physical characteristic. Sometimes those get confused in this particular dialogue. In other words, I have known some people who have been gay before, then later straight, but I have not known any ex-blacks!
Why do people who chose dangerous & untrue "religious" indoctrination, like the myth that homosexuality is a "sin", always want to ram their offensive lifestyle down society's throats? They are free to believe whatever they need to, but those of us who accept God's will in creating & keeping gay people here on earth find anti-gay bigotry deeply offensive. Why can't these "Christians" keep their behavior behind closed doors, rather than out in public where innocent children can witness it?
@MattFrame maybe there should be ex-christian reparative therapy staffed by christopher hitchens. to help them overcome their immoral, unhealthy lifestyle: The truth can set you free
When x-tians harp on homosexuals i wonder about them. They don't push against witches, eating shellfish, or people who wear clothes of 2 fabrics. People who think homosexuals choose to be gay think someone woke up and decided to become part of the most hated minority in history after the Jews. Usually the more anti-gay x-tians are the more likely they are to be gay.
@trajan74 Would you clarify? You say the more anti-gay, the more likely to be gay? If gays tend to be more anti-gay than the general heterosexual population, does that mean gays tend to be less tolerant people? I'm still trying to figure out why any group's primary identity is their sexuality. I would think identifying with one's philosophy on life, and how one contributes to improving it, would be more important and productive..... and less egocentric
I do not believe that people are delivered from being gay, they are just lying! I do not believe that the civil rights is equal to the homosexual. As an atheist I disagree with Christians on the ideas of god or other religions as well, but I believe that Christians have the right to state their opinons and I am a supporter for the constitution.
"Silencing the christians" More like, the population is catching onto the abuse of the church leaders in mis-using their flock to attack innocent minority groups.
So they turned the "Christian voice" from some religious dogma, to a bunch of spoiled whining children.
Not the fault of the American people, but to a fault of their own.
Christians, they LOVE to take away the human rights of others. No more of it. No more. Let's all move on and only respect those belief systems that advocate human rights for EVERY SINGLE PERSON; if Christianity starts respecting human rights, THEN AND ONLY THEN will I respect that belief system. Religions are passed off as "harmless" and immune from criticism, but now's the time to start speaking up and calling the bullshit for exactly what it is.
Ecrossh, Christians have to stand for what they believe in. Surely you dont need Christians to agree with homosexuality? Nothing is immune from criticism and if you watch many videos on youtube you will see that Christians are blasted quite regularly so you are not in a minority in the least.
Jesus said:
John 7:7
The world hates Me because I testify of it that its works are evil.
John 15:18 If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you.
I have to say that I find it appalling that in the same statement this women she has "a love" for everyone regardless of their sexual orientation but does not condone the "practice" of homosexuality.
She is basically saying that homosexuals only deserve a different kind of love than heterosexuals & that the love they have is about as meaningful as the love one has for a hobby. You don't "practice" loving someone, you are born that way. Homosexuality also occurs in the animal kingdom.
Don't be ridiculous. You are NOT born that way! They've even proved that homos do not have an 'extra gene.'
How can she be dishonest and say that she condones the queer life style when it goes against her Christian beliefs. Wake up now. As Jesus does, she loves the sinner, NOT the sin itself. You cannot have one set of rules/laws FOR homos and a different one for all the rest. No, it goes entirely against the 1st Amendment. Watch the whole video. It explains it all very well.
For those straights who think it's a choice, let me offer this challenge- just for a single weekend, DECIDE to be gay. CHOOSE to be erotically stimulated by someone of the same gender. ELECT to have romantic feelings toward a gay person. MAKE UP YOUR MIND to not be attracted to anyone of the opposite gender. If you can do this, it's a choice. If not, please do what Jesus did and shut up about it. watch?v=aDiYeJ_bsQo (Exodus ministries founders and leaders confess)
I do not purport that homosexual people have an "extra gene" as you put it but rather that our genes are such that we are physically drawn to those of the same sex.
I am arguing for the contrary. For gay & lesbian couples to have the same freedom to marry as heterosexuals. Her statements are biased & incorrect but I don't think this person had malicious intent. The hate crimes legislation would ONLY target hate speech.
Recent release from the APA - there is no conclusive proof for a "gay gene".
Regarding hate crimes legislation - it will be taken to the point of punishing anyone who merely speaks out against homosexuality. Even a desire to intellectually debate the issue will put you in harm's way. If you think not, just look to our neighbor to the north (Canada). If you speak out against homosexuality, even if from an intellectual basis, you face fines and jail time.
OMG! They need to Baker Act these Christians. They come off as very paranoid and possibly dangerous. I don't care who stupid people hate. But these idiots VOTE, people. They need to be taken off the street now!
So Christians are paranoid but that doesn't mean you aren't out to get them. They need to be taken off the street now? Based on what you wrote they really aren't so paranoid are they?
Don't be ridiculous. Those disgusting gays (some naked) in the parade or demonstration should have been water-hosed out of the area where young kids were. They should not publicize their disgusting lifestyle, but do what "normal" people do, and live privately. Please read and respect the 1st Amendment.
What you call "free speech" is abominable behaviour, compared to other organizations parades and demonstrations. And then you go cry foul, when Christian want to exercise their "free speech" as this video shows, and you try to muzzle them. Don't deny it.
Now you are being very petty and miniscule. Gays are the ones interfering with education and parental rights and interpreting politics, marriage, degrading our movies, TV shows, parades, and adicted to porno, polluting young children with their filth, and public toilets, etc.
I don't wish to discuss this with you anymore as you are admittedly anti-Christ,,as I said earlier. You are the big hippocrit..
We are familiar with 'survivor's guilt' and we know that children are so very prone to blame themselves for divorce, the death of a parent or sibling... Yet christians think nothing of teaching even very young children that they are born into sin, that their best virtues are but filthy rags in god's sight, and that they personally are responsible for the betrayal, torture, and death of the best man ever to live. They are taught that they deserve hell. This is evil. This is child abuse!
You obviously don't know the Bible very well. We are not all Catholics yanno. Children are NOT born into sin. That is false doctrine & NOT what Jesus taught. He said that children are precious & that if we want to inherit the Kingdom of Heaven, we should be like them, humble, trusting in Him, teachable & innocent. Don't twist things and try to make out that the good is bad & the bad good in this instance re the gays, which BTW, is a prophesy that is meant to happen in the Last Days.
Too, it was the Jews and the Romans who crucified the SAviour...NOT the Christians. Christians (you seem to forget) were also murdered, by the thousands after Christ died. They were crucified, thrown into the lions' den and stoned to death, etc!!! (The good again deemed bad, the bad good.) Read the Bible and pray to know the Truth!
Right, Jesus didn't say anything about "gays," because the term "gays" only came about several decades ago. It has evolved from queer & homosexual, & became "gays" because it didn't sound so wicked. (So I read.) And you know darn well what God says in Leviticus about "man lying with man as with a woman," that they will burn in hell. Also mentions similar in the N.T, but you all know that & unfortunately, try to ignore it or twist the true meaning to suit your own interpretation,
The Religionism of todays cultures-are dangerous...Who will save our children. For some reason,"christians"etc...have historically hated diversity,& imposed themselves on others. I believe in God-And He's nothing like they've made Him out to be. Also-It's not so much what you read or say,"but what you do" that matters most to God.
They have a right to their opinions and it is very stupid that the University reacted the way it did. However, I strongly disagree with Ms. Dixon and the Bishop about their supposition that if homosexuality is a choice, it does not deserve protection or that gay people cannot have equal rights. From personal experience, as a former christian and gay man, I know that sexuality, although fluid, is not a choice. Nevertheless, if it were a choice, that is not an excuse for discrimination.
Miscegenation laws are not like the ones regarding homosexuality to begin with in more ways than I have space to recount, but assuming you are entirely correct, does that make it ok to disregard a person's rights to free speech? To impinge on it and violate it? What next, "death2bigot"? Would you imprison people, send them to concentration camps, violate *their* rights? If so, how does that make you any better than them?
secretMachine -- Thanks for the half-hearted history lesson. Actually, if you will recall, it was the Christians that were the victims of persecution, torture, and death from the beginning. Does Rome ring a bell? Yes, it's true. And now things are coming full circle. Don't pity the Christians - we are standing true to the faith. Pity those who have none. In the meantime, allow Dixon her justice - all she did was speak the truth as a private citizen.
Christians and all religious nuts for that matter have oppressed someone or another in order to validate their wacky beliefs since none of it really makes sense to them in the first place. Oppression is the right of no one and these tyrants who infect your feeble minds will be brought down.
I don't know of any instance of oppression as sanctioned by scripture. But, if you want to look at the history of oppression involving atheists, I'm fair game. Stalin is a good example. Chairman Mao. Pol Pot!
But since no one is being oppressed, I gather that who you want to "bring down" will ultimately be innocent victims. It's ok. Jesus said, Blessed are you who are persecuted for righteousness sake, and that the world will hate us because we say that what they do is wrong. Like you.
all oppression is wrong, no matter who does it, for whatever reason. The arguments that include Mao and Stalin as examples of atheist oppressors are logical fallicies. They did not oppress people because of their atheism but because of their own evil. On the other hand, some christians specifically use their faith to oppress people. This does not mean christianity naturally leads to this, just that people use ideas, be it faith based or political, to oppress others.
secretMachine -If you make a word cloud of your comments you will find there are quite a few insults throne. As you know, insults do not make your point any more valid so I have restructured your comment with out them.
Christians and all religious people for that matter have oppressed someone or another in order to validate their beliefs since none of it really makes sense to them in the first place. Oppression is the right of no one and these people who infect your minds will be brought down.
Christians and all religious people for that matter have oppressed someone or another in order to validate their beliefs since none of it really makes sense to them in the first place.
If it doesn't make sense to us would we really believe it? You seem to think so. If that's so why would someone who WAS a perfectly sensible evolutionist EVER convert to (believe) Christianity? (I'm willing to point out examples.) Do you think that they are ALL hypocrites?
Oppression is the right of no one and these people who infect your minds will be brought down.
Infect our minds with what? Please specify what you mean. These people (who ever they are) could be infecting our minds with a great many awful things and I would like to know what. Failure to agree with every argument thrown at me?
Really. So, if a university professor (an atheist one) speaks out against Christians, he would face the same sort of punishment, right? I highly doubt that.
Christians can be smeared and bashed all day long, and that's protected speech. Christians merely say they disagree with homosexual behaviour and they are called haters and bigots, and some countries will fine or imprison them. I suppose that's alright with you, though.
Nobody should be punished for exercising their right to free speech. Nobody has a right to not be offended. The point I was making is that religion is a protected class in this country and religion is a choice. Therefore, it shouldn't matter if sexual orientation is genetic or freely chosen- people should not face discrimination, harassment, punishment, and legal retribution for it. If Christians only said they disagreed, fine, but their disagreement translates into taking away out rights.
This insistence that homosexuality is a choice is politically motivated. The enemies of gay rights know that people are far more likely to favor gay rights if they know that homosexuality is inborn. But even if homosexuality was indeed a choice, the antigay forces still wouldn't have a case, since freedom and civil rights not only entails the right to be who you are, but also to make choices.
I agree with you 100%, but people claiming homosexuality is a choice often think that religion is not a choice, whereas the opposite is actually true.
"my opinion was very fact-based" okay...that makes a whole lot of sense. *rolling eyes*
An HR person shouldn't be a homophobe, so I'm not surprised she was fired.
Civil rights are civil rights. While gay people haven't been enslaved or forced to drink from separate water fountains, the issues are similar.
They love to talk about "double standards" but they are the ones perpetrating double standards by denying the same rights to gay couples that they happen to enjoy.
What rights? You don't get rights for what you choose to do in the privacy of your bedroom. Getting rights for a chosen behavior is flat out wrong. Blacks and spaniards do not choose to be as such, homosexuals choose their lifestyle. There are hundreds every month who relinquish that most unhealthy lifestyle.
o'rly, so why then do heterosexuals who choose to have sex with members of the opposite sex get rights to marry? I mean you choose a heterosexual lifestyle. I'm sure you could simply choose to relinquish your unhealthy heterosexual lifestyle if you so wanted, now couldn't you. I mean it is your choice to be physically attracted to members of the opposite sex, right? LMFAO.
Hundreds of heteros every month choose to relinquish their unhealthy hetero lifestyle by becoming nuns or priests.
On the contrary, you don't have a case either way. If homosexuality is not a choice, doesn't it stand to reason that gay people have to right to be their authentic selves without recriminations? And if it is a choice, then what becomes of the value of liberty and freedom if certain groups are not allowed to exercise that choice? As for calling gay an "unhealthy" lifestyle, do your health research and check the diversity among gay people, because you don't know what you're talking about.
I watched the entire documentary through the HRCF mailing. It's amusing how they try to portray Christians as victims and gays as the intolerant ones. The entire video reeks with psychological projection, which is no surprise since pp is central to bigoted personalities.
The African American woman in this video who states that the LGBT struggle for equality should not be equated to the civil rights struggle is just ignorant. No person chooses to be gay! It's just ignorance.
The statement "homosexuality is a practice" is coming from a non-gay...do gay people say this? Does it really make sense to believe a straight person saying "its a choice" or even 'converted' gay people saying this? The only people who have any authority to say "homosexuality is a choice" are those who are actually gay themselves.
As for the pity party, Valerie, please don't defame the Jews like that. Millions of Jews killed in the 20th century, against a handful of homosexuals not getting their way in America?? Really??? Disgusting... but keep up with the sympathy pleas, you're only making my point for me.
But I digress -- it's clear that the entire point of this video is a freedom of speech issue -- so if you want to go represent homosexuality, pick a more relevant thread.
Look no further than the good work of Exodus International to see that yes, thousands have abandoned homosexuality and continue to do so everyday. The American Psychological Association may claim that you cannot "change your sexuality," but it's really a defeatist circular argument -- after all, then how did gays come to call themselves as such in the first place??
not only has the american psychological association conclude that these therapies DON"T WORK they went MUCH further adding that these attempts at "straightening" gays causes UNDUE HARM. how very christian of you, kick them even further down than society manages to do. YOU need therapy!
I'm not suggesting therapy or even "kicking." I'm just telling you at what point the APA decided to stop calling homosexuality a disorder... when enough of them were actually calling themselves homosexuals. That's just a fact. Sorry if it angers you.
Nice to see that you at least use sound logic in making your ridiculous, over the top statements... should I just take your word for it that "thousands of homosexuals have not come out of homosexuality?" Or, should I rely on one of the meaningful "studies" that you mention?
THOUSANDS of homosexuals have NOT"come out of" homosexuality-if this were true, then why can't these people be found when it's time to do studies? NONE of these"conversion" organizations actually claim to "change" anyone!
My favorite:
"...we love everyone, even the homosexuals..."
What isn't added is:
"...only when homosexuals hate themselves to an acceptable level."
The Christian victim thing is just another piece of nonsense, like 'Germany is threatened by the Jew and the communist: the enemy inside who works to undermine her sacred values and her strength.'
Standard fascist bull-crap. Invent an enemy then rail against them, promising a social apocalypse.
Yes. Because people who are gay really just CHOSE to be people that have been beaten to death because of their sexual orientation. They've really chosen to be made fun of, to be shunned by their religion, and to be kicked out of their house by their relgion crazy parents because they're gay. Jeez. Kids these days.
@temari412 I don't think gays necessarily feel they have CHOSEN to be gay, but they CAN consciously choose to move out of the "lifestyle". We all make hard choices in many areas of our lives. Religion-crazy parents are different from faith-based parents, just like religion is different from the body of believers who look to God, instead of men, for truth, forgiveness, and salvation. One needn't be a homophobe (denoting fear) to be opposed to seeing someone suffer in a destructive lifestyle.
@GetItRight4aChange I am gay and do not suffer in a "destructive lifestyle". I live a happy healthy life, much happier than I was when I used to be baptist christian
There's nothing new about it. Not that you really know anything about anything. It's not like you've read the Classic Greek Literature or studied the ancient Roman poets. It's only new to you because you belong to a cult of ignorance.
Dude, Smeejay was employing sarcasm. "It's this new thing" is an American (perhaps English language?) idiomatic expression, to imply that something is obvious and longstanding when someone has clearly missed the point. important. Like if you said, "Oh no, my car broke, I can't get to work." I would say, "It's ok, there's this new thing called a bus you can take."
Um, how representative are celebrities, in general, of any one person of a given race/gender/personality? Oh how could i forget, movie stars are historically the most stable of people, the most prone to the most normative behavior.
I can't believe this Christal Dixon person still goes on there whining that she's been fired from her job. If someone said constistently racist and hateful things to her she would not only ask but EXPECT her employer to do something about this.

Let us agree on the meaning of words for arguments sake.
kyleshaffer13 3 weeks ago
@kyleshaffer13 claims, "She was being silenced because her viewpoint was not being tolerated."
Well, she spoke her mind & wrote her piece. Other people pointed out the fallacies & already-dispoven myths of her argument. Should she have been fired? Not if she was able to do her job well, outside of her personal beliefs. Keep in mind that when "liberal" commentators write something that conservatives disagree with, they often get into hot water too. Intolerance runs both ways.

"Intolerance runs both ways." Exactly, Matt.

MattFrame 3 weeks ago
@MattFrame You are the one asking for the "special right." You are not being "discriminated" against by the law. You have the freedom to marry anytime you want. But the law states there are limits on whom you can marry. You can't marry your sister, animals, and the same sex, (in most states) for example.
But you are asking for an exception to be made by changing the very definition of marriage. So, you have all the freedoms we have, you just want MORE freedoms.

Why do people who chose dangerous & untrue "religious" indoctrination, like the myth that homosexuality is a "sin", always want to ram their offensive lifestyle down society's throats? When x-tians harp on homosexuals i wonder about them. They don't push against witches, eating shellfish, or people who wear clothes of 2 fabrics. People who think homosexuals choose to be gay think someone woke up and decided to become part of the most hated minority in history after the Jews. Usually the more anti-gay x-tians are the more likely they are to be gay.

@trajan74 Would you clarify? You say the more anti-gay, the more likely to be gay? If gays tend to be more anti-gay than the general heterosexual population, does that mean gays tend to be less tolerant people? I would think identifying with one's philosophy on life, and how one contributes to improving it, would be more important and productive..... and less egocentric

Example: "You f#@$ homos should burn in hell!"
PS-I did watch of of it.
Estrodile 2 years ago
Recent release from the APA - there is no conclusive proof for a "gay gene".
Regarding hate crimes legislation - it will be taken to the point of punishing anyone who merely speaks out against homosexuality. Even a desire to intellectually debate the issue will put you in harm's way. If you think not, just look to our neighbor to the north (Canada). If you speak out against homosexuality, even if from an intellectual basis, you face fines and jail time.

Nevertheless, if it were a choice, that is not an excuse for discrimination.
doubled7 3 years ago
Miscegenation laws are not like the ones regarding homosexuality to begin with in more ways than I have space to recount, but assuming you are entirely correct, does that make it ok to disregard a person's rights to free speech? Christians and all religious nuts for that matter have oppressed someone or another in order to validate their wacky beliefs since none of it really makes sense to them in the first place. Oppression is the right of no one and these tyrants who infect your feeble minds will be brought down.
secretMachine 3 years ago
I don't know of any instance of oppression as sanctioned by scripture. But, if you want to look at the history of oppression involving atheists, I'm fair game. Stalin is a good example. Chairman Mao. Pol Pot!
But since no one is being oppressed, I gather that who you want to "bring down" will ultimately be innocent victims. It's ok. Jesus said, Blessed are you who are persecuted for righteousness sake, and that the world will hate us because we say that what they do is wrong. Like you.
schticky547 3 years ago
all oppression is wrong, no matter who does it, for whatever reason.

XfrostgiantX 3 years ago
I suppose that's alright with you, though.
schticky547 3 years ago
Nobody should be punished for exercising their right to free speech. Nobody has a right to not be offended. The point I was making is that religion is a protected class in this country and religion is a choice. Therefore, it shouldn't matter if sexual orientation is genetic or freely chosen- people should not face discrimination, harassment, punishment, and legal retribution for it. If Christians only said they disagreed, fine, but their disagreement translates into taking away out rights.
XfrostgiantX 3 years ago
This insistence that homosexuality is a choice is politically motivated. The enemies of gay rights know that people are far more likely to favor gay rights if they know that homosexuality is inborn. But even if homosexuality was indeed a choice, the antigay forces still wouldn't have a case, since freedom and civil rights not only entails the right to be who you are, but also to make choices.

@temari412 I don't think gays necessarily feel they have CHOSEN to be gay, but they CAN consciously choose to move out of the "lifestyle". We all make hard choices in many areas of our lives. If sexual orientation is genetic then why is Anne Heche having another baby with her husband?

Proof? You have none.

Besides, she's mentally ill. That's not a very good reason to support homosexuals.

Um, how representative are celebrities, in general, of any one person of a given race/gender/personality? Oh how could i forget, movie stars are historically the most stable of people, the most prone to the most normative behavior.
