Slayer's latest album Christ Illusion is very much like old Slayer the truth is thrash metal or speed metal was popular in the 80's but it is like any other form of music it has it's moment then it evolves. Slayer has Dave Lombardo playing drums who was their original drummer up until Divine intervention, Paul Bostaph replaced him until arthritis made it impossible for him to continue. Dave Lombardo is among the best thrash metal drummers out there.

I just listened to Hate Worldwide sounds like classic Lombardo to me, no massive bowel moving double bass segments like Rain In Blood but I will have to hear the whole album before I judge. I still don't feel that Slayer ever sold out like Metallica and Megadeth, They are still singing about murder, war, hatred, and how stupid people are who belive in God which has always been their M.O.  Slayer still throws down live like no other and when they die and go to hell they will be the house band!

There isn't really any double bass, the drummer is mosly just playing the snare fast, and then hitting the bass and a symbol to make is into a beat, I dont find it near as good as the old stuff.

I gave the tune another listen definately not their most brutal track, sporadic double bass drums but nothing that really stands out.

Sounds like the really old school thrash beat with the snare most prominent, not my favorite beat. I prefer Slayer's work from Reign in Blood and beyond, of the earlier albums I have some preferred tracks.

I have seen Slayer in concert 13 times and they have never failed to deliver the punishment! Lombardo is an Incredible drummer Slayer/Grip Inc./Testament

Slayer stayed closer to their roots if not so much musically as far as thrash goes but in what they stand for and their lyrical content. Christ Illusion is very close in sound and style to Slayers Reign In Blood. Slayer evolved they did not sell out they have never been popular in the mainstream remaining underground and unapologetic, Metallica made it to the mainstream but sticking to thier roots but once they got there they changed and sold out.
