1:05 you see strings. Thats the problem with HD. Older movies like this werent designed for it. They actually RELIED on inferior camera quality. I would think though they could edit out the strings, regardless. But I guess they didn't.
@gorangers94cup Absolutely right. Modern video editing programs actually have filters to make digital footage look more like film by blurring it slightly and de-saturating the colors.
The reason there's so many complaints on this message board can be anwered in one sentence: Richard Lester directed this movie -- not Richard Donner. There's your problem.
Funny thing is Clark could have superspeed over to Ricky and back again (faster than you can blink or see) without even changing into Superman. Ah that's the movies for you they have to build up suspense.
@p3rs0nan0ngrata No he wouldn't have, in my original post I stated Superman can move faster than you can see. The guy can reach lightspeed territory. He would have superspeed over picked up Ricky and the guy in the Combine wouldn't have seen anything. The t.v. show Smallville displayed Clark's speed quite well. You often see Clarks perspective as he moves at superspeed. Everything around him is "frozen" not moving because he's moving so fast. Nobody sees him.
@Earthman979 There is a good reason why Superman didn't move at Superspeed to grab Ricky without the Combine Driver seeing him.Superman might be able to move at Superspeed, but for a human it could be dangerous, he didn't want to risk hurting Ricky.
@mark84j it didn't scare me. I knew Superman would save the day. He's a real American treasure that Superman.

I hated Ricky...

This scene really scared me as a kid. I think it was the sound of the crying dog and the possibility of a kid being literally shredded.
