  • Well, not very impressed :/

  • its sad but i have prolly only played this thing 10 times ofter this video its gone now :(

  • holy shit thats awesome!

  • excellent continues !

    -un contrebassiste-

  • Please Tune

  • God work man!

  • you should try to make your thumdb and you middle finger in the same spot but just dont have your thumb on the side like you did in the video its a bad happit

  • I'd have to agree. Switching from Electric to upright was the hardest thing to do because I'm so used to moving my entire hand to the finger, but apparently you're supposed to keep your thumb stationary with the upright. I was like, nuuuuu, I play how I want.

  • i love this instrument, and you rock it =)

  • this is actually very good :) well done

  • great! - GREAT!! - G-R-E-A-T!!!

yeah I know I'm a fucken bass addict.

  • If you are looking for critique, there are notes you are playing out of key. Also, double bassists do not use their 3rd finger. We use only 1, 2 and 4. Double bass is probably one of the hardest instruments to master but also the most gratifying. Good Luck!

  • @thomaspatricksmyth

There are two different techniques to playing the bass, traditional 3-finger technique and 4-finger technique, which is similar to how one would play electric bass. So, though many don't as it's a bit awkward on smaller hands, it's still technically correct to play with your 3rd finger if you're using 4-finger technique. Personally, I use them both in different situations.

  • lol weirld way to play upright...lol.. thats certainly not how you use upright bass..but hey as long as it works with you its fine right :)..i m a fretted bass player btw !

  • Playing upright isn't exactly hard it's just hard to keep yourself in tune. electric bass usually has frets which keeps tuning in check (check trutemprament guitars) without the frets it's much differant. first "fret" would be way back while second and 3rd are right next to each other

  • I could totally feel your pain while playing

  • Flea? lol

  • hey is it hard to make a transition from bass guitar to an upright?

  • @brownbassplayer Uprights are a lot harder to play then a bass guitar, but if you are good at a bass guitar I'm sure you can get used to a upright. :)

  • HEY'n Stinky billy bob , dnt ya get that bassn up yonder?

  • im considering building an upright bass, ive picked up to playing different instruments pretty quickly. if you want to get used to different fingering (thats what she said) styles, its mostly a matter of forcing yourself to go against your natural instinct to play it a different way, if you keep forcing yourself to (i assume use your index finger) eventually it will become natural

  • Know what I love?..When you click a vid on here and see either a unique and original version, or adapting whichever instrument of preference to fit the song!..Example..Someone playing this song on an ACCORDION! heh..That i's LOVE to see!! =]

  • Hell yeah! Great Stuff! CHECK OUT THE NIITRObILLIES!

  • this is my elective for next year can't wait!!!

  • @girllost131 im gonna be like the dude in the band " the stray cats"

  • nice video dude i get you i´ve been playing bass for 14 years and im fairly good but i suck at upright it´s really difficult.

  • the meat on the index finger thing doesnt make that much of a diffrence i play on classical all the time and it sounds fine it just sounds good to add the extra sound because the bass is always used for the heart beat of a song

  • @bobthebuilder2656 so whats ur point?im not that good at all?

  • @motoxchamp321 He didn't make any sense at all. Sounds pretty good to me dude! Upright can be tough.

  • it is unsual for upright players to use pull offs, nice

  • nice video dude... I did the same song check out my vid on bass :D

Btw how do you manage such an awesome song on upright

  • very wood man,MEXICO...

  • I'd pay money to see Fly skip about trying to play one of those Daddys- it'd be like a spider monkey playing on a VW Beetle!

  • Good man:)

  • thats pretty damn sweet man! keep at it!

  • uprights r fuckn hard man

  • @xBamf4Lifex yes indeed...this guy actualyy is letting me keep this at my place untill he get a house of his own...so prolly a year....its fukin a

  • @motoxchamp321 thats deece, keep workin on it man, and post som more rhcp covers!

  • @xBamf4Lifex true, theya re harder than an electric, but they are not too bad. but then again, thisi is coming from someone who is classiclly trained.

  • hell yea..awesome

  • lol pretty unusual, uprights are tricky though I'll give you that

  • not so precision ha, good job

  • Wow, great playing!

  • awesome

  • This is so sweet! =D

  • strings spacing on a double basses is insanity

I'd really like to try one one day..

or buy one... if I sell my car.. :D

  • your right hand technique isn't very good but other than that i'd say that was pretty good

  • i want to learn this; does anyone have the music???!!!!

  • you pluck like you play a regular bass you gotta play with the meat of your index finger, it gives it a way better tone

  • thats becouse i do..its hard to get use to

  • ya, my grandmother plays upright, and lets me play it, and you're right. it does take a lot of getting used to, cause i play electric bass too. but def good work bro

  • @dantheman90045 i agree with you my first instrument i played was Jazz upright bass.

if you want the tone like a true Double bass ( upright bass ) play it with your index of ya pointing finger.

To bad i didnt play for 11 years now ;) im a singer in a DM band ;) ( deathmetal )

  • Impressive! Great playing! I wish some day I get an upright bass! Really enjoy! Great tone!

  • awesome!

  • dood i know this electric bass man it took quite a while maybe 6 hours but too learn it on upright i hope spelled that right is really kool. do u have an electric bass if u do what kind is it i have a g&l eltoro and G&l sb2

  • yea.actualy if u have a frettless bass the upright dosent take too long to get used to...the hard thing is the HUGELY high action and its just so BIG! and takes lots of stringth to play..lol

i only had 4 days of practice on this thing

  • @motoxchamp321

I figured it would be more efficient, or at least easier, to learn to play upright bass before trying fretless... I wouldn't know I guess, though, because I've only been playing electric for about a month and a half.

  • @motoxchamp321

Have you tried sanding your bridge to get the action lower? I keep mine about 1/4 off the fingerboard. Also, if you can afford em, gut strings are the best kind to play. Hardly any effort to pluck or slap em. Nylons work ok too if you get the good ones. Im not great by no means, but doing that helped me out tons, if you would like to check some of my bands stuff look up the ramblin' gamblers.

  • This is good, i had to show my brother because he is obsessed with RHCP, we both thought it was pretty cool

  • thanx a lot..im also kinda obsessed with them...lol again thanx 4 comment

  • i like this...alot! (:

    very nice ;)

  • well thank u very much my pretty:D
