  • My name is steve...might change my last name to Zodiac, this is epic.

  • i echo most comments, gerry anderson did so many,ie supercar ,2 gun tex..lol. and many others the puppetering was an art, now, about gone. I would laff out loud as the puppets walked/talked, they were like they had been in the pub all night and were pissed as farts..'troy tempest' a good example

  • Maravilloso, me parece haber recuperado una parte de mi infancia; gracias a quienes han subido este vídeo.

  • I watched this as a kid was oneof the best show,s on tv. When Ilook at saying hello oldfriend we meet again so wonderful to see you. Still gey a thrill seeing the model take off. When i croak would be nice to seefireballxl5 and crew. And theysay wlcome aboradWeare expecting you let, sgohome on fireballxl5. Or my spirt wuld be another fireballxl5 taking offf and going home

  • I'm singing along to it now - again !!!!

  • i used to love to sing along to this ...brought back some good memories.

  • Not available on mobile, gets a dislike.

  • the spaceship is so advanced there isnt even a

    door...

  • As a kid, I watched this show. That was before the Gemini space program!

We'd watch it on our BIG 17 inch console television (rabbit ears and eberything!) every Saturday morning. Seems like a thousand years ago...

  • I still know the lyrics. I remember having a crush on Venus ( weird I know) but It was my favourite show when I was a nipper.

  • great clip makes me feel young again

  • Why are the clouds tilted parallel to the angle of ascent of the Fireball? (Just kidding) I loved this series way back in the day! I was on a kids bowling league and Fireball XL5 was the name of our team! 56 now....just an older kid! LOL Captured a kid's imagination back when kids still had imaginations.....

  • What a fantastic show 51 now and it brings back great memories..Brilliant Thanks...

  • don spencer i believe he was australian if i remember correctly

  • Who sang this. One of my chaildhood faves.

  • I remember the first time I saw the opening, with that dramatic three-note musical intro. After being raised on nothing but Yogi Bear and Huckleberry Hound, that opening put an enormous chill into me. Still does.

  • Pure Quality ,, This rocket was the first to land on the moon, years before Apollo .. AH! AH!

  • and i loved it too.. aged 54!! it was the top thing in those really nice days !!

  • I just find it weird, a fabulous vision of the future, but what happened to Health and Safety? No helmets worn riding on dodgy flying scooters? A revolving office block right next to a rocket launch pad? Come on on guys, Get Real!

Mind you this was before the European Union existed, perhaps Great Britain would have conquered the Solar System by now if we had not been subsidising....,,,,, etc etc

  • I'm 54, and I still love this show!

  • mfw I can see the shadow of the smoke from the rockets on the background sky XD

  • Those opening chords still send a shiver... this was my all time fave. What a treat to see it again after 40-odd years. Huge thanks!

  • i wanted to be steve zodiac well how didnt

  • im 51 and also still enjoy this and all of gerry andersons work!

  • love the smoke shadows on the scenery. was Gerry Anderson or his company involved with Team America, World Police? I'm in my 20's just discovered this, Supercar, and Stingray. The world was certainly a neat place before computer generated animation.

  • are they on strings? they didn't have computer mouse then, did they? how are they controlled?

  • 0:57 is the best shot of all-- Steve Zodiac looks like he's REALLY in control!

  • Even as a child I thought that looked very wobbly going down the rails.

  • I remember this show & always loved the song @ the end.

  • I think this was my favourite puppet show and why I love anything about space now.

  • Thank you for posting this clip. I was telling my wife about this show when I was cleaning house and found my large replica of the XL-5. It has rocket bays on the side and the front will separate from the ship. There are two small space bikes and two small figures to ride and/or fly the ship. It's sad though, because I had another set with bigger figures and bikes, but a small XL-5. Gerry Anderson had me from Supercar to the TerraHawks.

  • you wouldnt believe the version/mix/sound quality that was released on "Television's Greatest Hits"

  • Would anyone know why this show has never been repeated ? We had Thunderbirds,Stingray,Captain Scarlet and Joe 90 all on the syfy channel so why not Fireball or Supercar? Surely its not because its black and white...!

Hope someone knows...:) being 51 and watching this is like being 5 all over again and we only had a black and white tv till 1976 so it made no difference to me if it was colour or not :)

  • Yes things were different 45 years ago, as a kid you could be influenced by

this sort of show. But Star Trek was even more so. One of the reasons I became

an Aerospace Engineer. Worked on a couple of space missions at JPL and

a little time with the Shuttle. That was a while ago, but these shows helped mold

my future in Engineering...great to see these.

  • my elder brother works at Nasa Houston, and still insists that this serial was his inspiration! We both would sit on the floor and wait for tuesday evenings when they showed this on Doordarshan.

  • The US space program was just getting underway when this show was out. As a kid I thought Fireball XL5 was the coolest looking space ship in the world.

After all these years it STILL looks cool!

  • I was always scared of marionettes, especially these creepy ones!

  • Must of been awesome for a child in the early 60s to see this on their telly.

  • Excellent! I am 54 and remember it well! Just showing my 12 & 13 year old kids this clip! Not sure that they are smiling at it for the same reasons as me! Thanks for the memories!

  • I still have a soft spot for this great show. They need stuff like this for kids today. They're missing the wonder of it all that the fireball represented. You didn't have voyager or megellan back then. It was just not able to be done yet.

  • I love this show... This show is where the real action style began, that was used in Stingray and Thunderbirds. A friend of mine once said he couldn't watch it because it was black and white... What a load of nonsense! Gerry Anderson's playing the robot, for crying out loud! :)

  • My dad use to watch this and Thunderbirds when he was little

  • Doesn't William h. Macy look just like one of these puppets

  • Did Cliff Richard perform that song ? He was featured in another Gerry Anderson television based movie: "Thunder Birds Are Go...."

  • @spacemouse1 It wasn't Cliff Richard who sang the closing song - it was Don Spencer.

  • Wow... Awesome. What a great memory. Thank you for this.

  • thats proper fuckin rocket made in the uk of england

  • My absolute favorite show of all time. Have all the episodes on DVD.

  • This was my FAVORITE show as a kid in 1962 ! (I'm 55 now) I always wanted to be Steve Zodiac and have a girl friend named Venus. Later on I wanted to be Johnny Quest and have a friend named Haji !

  • a proper fukin rocket as a rocket should be built in the united kingdom of great britain loool

  • Thank you so much for bringing back this wonderful moments of my childhood alive. I recollect watching this serial with so much enthusiasm. Thanks once again mate !

Along with these I remember, The Goodies, the Lucy Show ...

Oh those days of the past !!.. I really miss them !!

  • @tuffuptube depois de 30 anos estou revendo fireball xl5 como era conhecido aqui no Brazil thanks ,.....Show,...

  • Great take-off sequence, but how did they ever manage to land the thing?

  • Top speed golly..forgotten about this...

  • I remember having a fireball XL5 model, yep I am 55 now and loved the show as a kid.

  • Comment removed

  • @almarose73 and u know wats awesome...my father is just about ur age....if not older....and he told me about this show...along with SuperCar....and i love them both....

  • @almarose73 wasnt it only on the air for one season?

  • @MichaelHansenFUN Nope, 3 seasons!

And it was on NBC, not syndicated like the others.

    Fireball was definitely the best.

  • @almarose73 My feelings exactly, word for word except for the age (I'm 57).

  • 1960 tv exelcior Brazil SHOW,.....Fire ball xl5

  • I wish I was a spaceman, the fastest guy alive, I'd fly you around the universe in Fireball XL-5

Way out in space together, Conquerers of the sky's

My heart would be a fireball, a fireball, everytime I gazed nto your stary eyes.
