When Jesus was alledged to have been born, Buddhism was at its institutional zenith...and had spread to Kashmir. Buddhism was the first spiritual practice to go beyond its borders and is a TRUE lineage unlike these others who invent a lineage ( masonry, christianity..).
I read that Buddhism doesn't believe in a bodiless self, or soul, so coming back as an animal is more symbolic of the effects of your karma; you don't "hop" from one body to the other; I hope this helps
Buddhism does not teach that life is an illusion, it teaches that it is an impersonal flow of events with no personal self.
Yes there is suffering but the Buddha taught that through his teaching you could learn the CESSATION of suffering through the giving up of the craving mind. Once one no longer needs things to occur in a specific way there is no more suffering.
Also Buddhists don't pray -they pay respect. And Satan is Christian and not Buddhist.
I have issues with reincarnation in Buddhism, in the context of a past & future life outside the one we know. Buddha did not ask people to speculate, instead, he was pointing to direct observation of this life, how we die & are reborn moment after moment. We are not the same person we were 10, 5, 1 years ago, or even 5 seconds ago. Everything in this universe is in constant change, only the 'idea' of self provides stability. Is it any wonder we suffer, stuggeling to form icicles in fire.
rencarnation is the process of rebirth.if you did good deeds is your past life, you would be born into an equal or higher state. if you did bad deeds, you would have a bad rebirth. if you would like for me to expand on this, just go and ask me on my page and i will answer you. i would like to spread metta by this act of explaining the dhamma. may kindness and happiness be with you all.
You let go of unwholesome thoughts and take lovingkindness or the breath as your object of meditation. You replace unwholesome thoughts and tensions with positive "emotions". Thus you purify the mind and eliminate the negative and gradually, as the mind calms, see how this whole thing works. May you be happy and do keep asking questions- The Buddha said to not believe anything but to judge something for yourself. David
Yes, I practice zazen and I can tell you that it's amazing. When you still the mind loving kindness appears automatically. I read books about it but never really understood it before practicing meditation. Now, I both understand and feel it and I am much kinder to everyone and everything.
Buddhism is Mindfulness, Compassion, and Bliss combining to cause transcendence.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't the Buddhists that burned "witches" in Salem, or led the Crusades. Look inward before you cast "Satan" on someone else.

The Gnostics Christians did believe in reincarnation. You can do some research. The later Christians didn't beleive it.

no, refined emotions.. what if we all acted as if we were still 2 years old? well, you didn't lose emotion, you only refined your control of it.
