Yeas indeed , this aria is a tour de force as it was MEYERBERR ROLES.. iST. NEEDED IS A HEROIC TENOR with the declamatory skills of a poet, 2nd finesse and legato.3rd. the proper use of messa di voce.4th a n easy acuti,, full voiced, bur wit the capacity of changing dynamics. The role has been sung by dramatic tenors from the Belcantista schola of the 19th cemtury. Corelli fulfilled those vocal conditions. During the 50's he attacked Poliuto Hercules, Pollione with success.
What an explosive and impressive rendition ~ in my humble opinion Mr. Corelli´s had the most exciting and electrifying tenor voice of the Golden past . Thank you for sharing his art with us, who have heard him life, as well as for the younger generation who only know him from his reordings.
♥ Thanks so much.... it is an immense pleasure to listen to Corelli always ...and I enjoy so much with the translation !...I love the introduction video ..beautiful images !
@opensecret51 Thanks, Masha. I love making the introductions. Finding the photos and trying to match the feeling of the music is always my favorite part.
My god what a voice! A high C followed by a Bb at the end, and he isn't even breathing hard:-) Easily one of the greatest tenors of all time; always exciting, always a joy to listen to! Thank you very much for this!
Historic Raoul--one for the ages.

@EdmundStAustell They say that Raoul is one of the hardest roles to sing, but he carried it off with glory.
