  • Thanks Alicatt1! And the true story of this fine aircraft and of the men who flew it will finally be revealed in 2012........much different from the 'unhappy rumours' that have swirled around it ever since the end of WWII or indeed even earlier (when it was obsoleted)! Kind regards, JM

  • Thanks on this, this is my favourite aircraft from ww2. My late father served at RAF Tangmere during WW2

  • Thanks Tham.........many people think along the lines you have suggested. I am asking my Technical Advisor to brief me on what you have suggested since it is useful for me to obtain confirmation or qualifying comments. Very best regards, JM

  • This is the aircraft they should have concentrated

production on before the Battle of Britain, not Spitfires

    and Hurricanes.

With improved engines, belt feed of at least 100 rounds

rather than 60 round drums for its cannons, extra wing

fuel tanks, overload tanks in the rear fuselage and large

external fuel tanks, it would have been a formidable escort

fighter for the 8th Air Force before P-51s arrived.

  • Hello Popsaka1,

yes indeed.........it's finally finally going to happen!

    Kind regards, JM

  • .Bravo!!!! --waited years and years for this one--- again- Bravo!!!

  • There is a separate project to create a non-flying true full size metal replica, headed up by Mike Eastman North Yorks UK. Suggest you visit the website for whirlwindfighterproject where material is being accumulated & you can sign up if you want. Most answers you want will also be in the film. JM

  • Anyone, is there more stuff on Whirlwind around that I can download? It's a pretty interesting aircraft and it would be good to know why it didn't feature more..

  • Thanks, Captain! Unbelievably, new 'stuff' is still turning up (e.g. re the Beaufighter, also important) and by good fortune and also as confirmation of the solid basis of the researches (much done laboriously by others), it's all adding to a truly great never before told story!

  • Hoping to see this sometime, a great project.

  • Appreciate the comment. After two & a half years of work with the support of GAPAN and assistance from a terrific worldwide team exceeding 300 people and no fewer than 10 wonderful veteran pilots & engineers, I submitted a formal proposal to the BBC around 3 weeks ago for that organisation to 'commission' the film. They have assigned relevant executives & right now the status is 'under discussion'. Shall let those on my EMail list know as soon as this is updated. Yes, there's more film. RJM

  • Excellent film thank you, is there any more available, where can we see Ghost of the Whirlwind?

  • Thanks, appreciated! Incidentally, the story that's emerged is more amazing than anyone could imagine and also aims to bring out the truth at long last!!!

  • It's great remembering great forgotten planes from WWII. Well done!

  • Well done. Excellent project.

  • @PaulSample1961 Thanks Paul, appreciated! If you'd like to receive updates on EMail, please just ask. I submitted a formal eCommissioning proposal for the production of this film to the BBC on Monday last, 11th July & have been notified re who on their team will be dealing with it. Jim Munro.

  • Appreciate the comment & suggestion, Butchuk2007, will implement. Am providing film progress updates selectively via EMail rather than on my MacDeutsch website..... to maintain control of things.

  • Looks good. Why not post a link to the "macdeutsch website" in the description..??

  • Good video !

  • Hi Guys, thanks! The film project is in excellent shape, involving already more than 200 enthusiasts & experts all over the world......as well as no fewer than 8 veteran pilots, 1 veteran designer and 1 veteran engineer. Please feel free to visit the macdeutsch website if you wish to be kept informed of progress. JM

  • Where can I get a copy???

  • Jim, Great opening! I look forward to seeing more...MH
