  • I hate how he's not really singing the melodies. I mean, thats what makes this song so great - hot the melody, bass line and guitar all fit together. Instead hes just sticking to like one not for all of his phrases. It bothers me.

  • i looooooooooooooooooooooovve yoooooooooooooooooouuuuuu!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! my goodness!

  • this is live?

  • @ThePolecatz duh

  • @lowenstein22 I mean, its so tight, I'm amazed. But thankyou for not believing in me.

  • @ThePolecatz Chill, I'm playin lol. We all believers

  • thank you just what I needed to hear right now! You always warm my heart and soul!

  • This is a really great song, one of my favs. Brett is so talented! How long has he been singing? I just heard of him a few weeks ago (he's one of the amazing artists featured on the parenthood soundtrack that just came out)

  • adapted from nelle eyoum emmanuel's "djom te bofo". a cameroonian hit from waaaayyy back when! love what you did brett.

  • The music sounds like Paul Simon's Cecelia, like a lot

  • WOW!

  • song is so good.

  • Beautiful

  • He sounds so much like Paul Simon. This song takes me to Africa!!! I miss home...

  • @wajakahura I agree. I'm a huge PS fan and the guitar on this song reminds me a lot of some of the songs on the Graceland album.

  • @wajakahura

that's because it's originally by emmanuel nelle eyoum. the creator of makossa. the same kind of music shakira raided for her "waka waka' and MJ (love him) for wanna be startin something. ever hear of "richard bona"? he's cameroonian too.

  • I saw him live at bonnaroo!!!!!111

  • all of his lyrics are really clever and flow well together and there but to a very sultry beat. Perfection.

  • Saw Brett recently and he blew me away....I can't think of anything clever to say but I just love him, pure talent and a really down to earth guy. Thank you for posting this video.

  • how does this guy do it? i'm seriously still amazed by it and ive been listening to it for like.. 2 days straight

  • Man, I love this song!

  • So Paul Simon had a baby with a really tall chick

  • Gorgeous!

  • like the song :)

but what's up with the "kut"sign in the back rofl

  • KUT is the name of the public radio in Austin, Texas. :)

  • Yeah, and they are equaled only by KCRA (IMHO) in their support of independent and small market music.

Every town should be so lucky as to have KUT.

  • lol, i thinks he mentioned it because 'kut' in dutch means 'vagina' :P

  • Nice. The Dutch get a laugh.

  • goin to see this cat on the 27th here in indy! cant wait.

  • I think he's in his late 20's. Also, he's like 6'2"!!! Yes, he's a very awesome singer/songwriter. He writes songs that some might find too complicated or messy...because they deal with true life issues some might feel better left swept under the rug. I pray he keeps doing what he does.

  • Ooops...he's 6'3" & Bret grew up listening to Paul Simon because that's who his parents were into. He liked the music that Paul Simon was cranking out; music with an Atrican style/beat & the regional instrumentation.

  • how old is he really? to be honest, this kid is probably one of the best singers ive heard EVER!

  • OH OH OH this boy is all, i got to said it he is GREAT , I will go to his consert, i wish he come to miami, for some reason i though of cat steven, i dont know why. i'm a mature person and for sure i go for this singer . what abaut the lyrics does he compouse them too?

  • You can research some things about Brett Dennen. I think he mentions of some of the musical influences in his life & you might have hit on something, I believe I recall he says he grew up listening to Cat Stevens. (Google him & read a bio about him or something.)

  • thank you very much, for you reply.

  • He started his show w/ this song last night! It was awesome!

  • He is a cool man! ; ]

  • this song has gotten me thru so much...the election, the state of the world...my job...

    thanks brett!

  • good stuff this is, keep it up and go on tour to like, sweden ;)

  • Wow his voice is amazing. I love this song soo much. I love how he can sing live with no problem and not sound like shit like alot of other people when their live. Brett Dennen is Simply amazing<3

    ~Halley

  • Fantastic song!! He sings live with no problem because it's always him and all him. Nothing mucked up with any effects. Simply great music that sounds simply like it should. Rock on Brett!!

  • he rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • another instant classic from "the man"

  • Thanks...just the thing to reduce the pre-election heebie jeebies.

  • i am amazed at the wisdom of the youth today. pleasantly optimistic.. glad to witness this surge of new knowledge and outspokenness

  • Saw him open for Mason Jennings after Missy Higgins when the three of them hit Indianapolis this spring. No better time to be had, and Brett stole the show!

  • he's like 29 or something

  • Does anyone know exactly how old he....hes so amazing

  • He is 28

  • I saw him in concert with John Mayer and Colbie Caillat. some people were makin fun of him due to his youth, but as soon as he started playing, the crowd went crazy. brilliant! absolutely brilliant!
