Bleak ending. This scene aside, I also have to wonder about Lily. Assuming the survivors were evacuated somewhere close by, one could only assume she's frantically looking for Rob, Beth, and Hud before and during the sirens. And then she has to watch Manhattan get bombed to nothing with the knowledge that her friends might still be within the vicinity. Her boyfriend was also killed earlier in the night. Girl's in for one depressing life. Bleak ending, indeed.

@questhero101 From what I understand. They used a heavier type of ordinance, than what they used with the stealth bomber. I guess they wanted the city to still be habitable. As for the camera. The director mentioned, that the sandstone, from the bridge blocked alot of the blast from the bombs.

It is infact a UFO but it isnt the one cloverifled came on, cloverfield formed underwater from one of the parasites from the UFO, because of the oil spill, one parasite turned into cloverifeld.

@daimondox That's wrong it wasn't a UFO. It was a satellite. It hatched the cloverfield monster from its underwater egg. The viral marketing campaign for the movie reveals this. There are fake news reports of the satellite crashing out of orbit. Also the fake smoothie company slusho (that the main character works for) Uses an algae extract that is scraped off of the surface of the monsters egg, yet they don't know what they're tampering with.

To be honest, this scene was really disturbing to me.. You hear the monster screaming bloody murder, and you can hear Rob and Beth getting bombed. It all just has a very dense feeling of dread. A very well done scene none the less.
