  • Hey for Whiteman this is pretty interesting. Who's that guy sorta scatting there?

  • Oh I can still remember 1928, I was a 25 year old girl listening to the latest charleston beats on my iPod, so full of life, dancing to this music everyday. Today music is so lame. Well i do watch a lot of porn... but that's another story...

    cheerios folks

  • @PerfectWoman2 congratulations on being just about the oldest person in the world !

  • If you want to hear a modern, very fine recording of this in the original style, look on YouTube for Max Raabe and his Palast Orchester.

  • the music reminds me of Disneyland :]

  • Marvellous!

  • i remember dancing that dance went i was in my teens.

  • Great song 5 stars what year did Paul Whiteman and his Band record this song

  • I remember doing this back in the 1920's with my husband. We won a contest for dancing it the best.

  • @frankbinggene So you danced this music as a charleston?

  • @frankbinggene that so cool

  • @frankbinggene

I visited your channel. Are you really 109? That's incredible! What's your secret? Health food? Running?

  • @frankbinggene that is so cool!

  • i LOVE this song and this era!

  • I do the charleston, I love doing it. It makes me exhausted though lol, so energentic. x

  • I wish I could do the Charleston

  • Same here.

  • @starletdempsy its really easy if you have high energy

  • Possibly the Scat Singing is done by Austin "Skin" Young. Clarinet at 2:00 is Ross Gorman, w/Trumpet at 2:34 Henry Busse.

  • The song, composed by James P. Johnson, was originally featured in the 1923 Broadway musical, "Running Wild". Whiteman's version, one of his first "Orthophonic" (electrical) releases, was recorded on May 7, 1925 [Ferde Grofe wrote the arrangement]. Harry Barris was not a member of the Whiteman orchestra at the time (he didn't join Bing Crosby and Al Rinker, as "The Rhythm Boys", until early '27), so it's not his scat singing...

  • Paul Whiteman's version of the Charleston. I believe that's Harry Barris (he was one of the Rhythm Boys along with Al Rinker and Bing Crosby) doing the scat vocal throughout.

  • you made me cry, it's so beatiful from mexico. old memories. thenks

  • Very, very nicely done! Great recording !

    Thanks...!
