Why do some singers say 'HHHHI' instead of I?

It's got to do with the way the word "I" sticks in your throat. Try saying it. And it's difficult to sing properly if you're using you're throat. On the other hand, "HHHHHI" allows the throat to be open, cause its a bit like a sigh? So it doesn't stick like the "I".

Certain languages, like Chinese, have this problem with the way certain words are pronounced.
