She had an expressive & powerful sinning voice and could have been popular in the 30's etc. She was versatile to the point Rock & Blues were well done on both counts. So much more could have been done by her had her life not been cut short & i would bet she'd almost still sound like this today.
This is so sad - what a great soul, what a geat voice and what a sad, sad woman. She had deserved so much more than an overdose of fucking drugs. I loved her art so much! Why wasent anyone whow could love her, take her in his arms and took god care of her? Thanks Janis, vor everything you have done to the world. In my heart you will live forever! What a tragedy nobody could give you the true love you would have been deserved.
@Linus107 She was taking Jimmi's death hard & her engagement was off. She was clean for a long time before she died, the batch she got was uncut, others died too. I appreciate that you get that, that is the most tragic part about her. She took care of so many people. Hell, even left provisions in her will for her own wake! She put everything she had into everything she did. No matter what she had a beautiful heart and it seemed no one she was ever with loved her as she loved them.
Wow, I did not know a live version of this existed! I didn't think Janis ever performed it before she died! Has this been officially released? (I knew she performed at Threadgills though)
Well, she called that one right. Janis was a special offer subject to revocation. But man, while she was alive she pumped her heart and soul into it. She taught Robert Plant how to sing. She made Stevie Ray Vaughn possible. Love you Janis, even more now than in 1971 when all the girls loved you first.
This made me realize that you don't exchange perceptions of one another as a means of demonstrating plain psychological interest; to do that, instead you do stuff like attempt to get as close as possible to the other's mindset. For instance, you listen to the music he/she/it delights on. It'll eventually and unexpectedly manifest.
@Comcouveflor Nice to see what we come up with as the bottom-line resolves to our frivolous problems. I expect a long time to pass by as I still have much to fall, but everyone around me from the very getgo were already claiming I should pick myself up. For their convenience I guess. But now that we're deeper than that, I can see time be extended to infinity. To the biological machinery, as a thing OF it.
@rbweegie it's Janis and life was stressful then as now. I wouldn't say take another shot of heroin and a nice warm bath about Jimi Hendrix, but now look at what you made me do. That's a joke, just in case you weren't sure. Just love the music.
This a wonderful video and i will treasure it forever. RIP JJ!!! You were the most wonderful lady singer that I heard when i was growing up back in the sixties and like many of my other favourites you passed away too young!!! Will love you always - the Queen of the Song!!!!
What I hear is instrumentation that is under recorded, a bit thin which shows Janis voice and how good a singer she was and how much soul she could drive out of herself. Great video
Thanks for sharing the audio of this video. This is the first live recording of Janis singing this song I have ever heard. You did the world a favor by sharing this.
Amazing how many morons have commented on the video not matching the audio. The person who uploaded the video clearly states: VIDEO: "Tell Mama", AUDIO: "Me and Bobby McGee" . Can't understand why people are surprised the two don't match. Idiots.

I love you Janis but whom ever dubed this did an unforgivable job at certain points watch the musics playing , but her lips dont move ...and she is not even singing Bobby Mcgee ... Amy ny 1963
@AmyNY1 this was a rare live recording at some time. The video was made of some of her live performances. Her lips are not SUPPOSED to move along with the song because other live footage was used...which is nice. There is NO footage of this particular live version. ....why cant people understand these simple things? I really dig this 0625. 2 no roses 4 me , Yes I do understand the cutting and editing of this video it is quite clear she is not singing to this particular song , I just stated that it was not her singing and performing the same song . @AmyNY1 Where did you find this audio? Thank you so much! She finished the vocals for this song for the album PEARL the night before she died. The only other "live version" is during the credits for the DVD, THE FESTIVAL EXPRESS. I love your generosity.

Great sing, Great singer and Great film clip. But please don't take liberty's and post as a live song when its not the video for it. Or state 'live song with unrelated video ' so we know what we are going to look at. With regards to Janis, I would look at a blank screen just to hear her voice. Upset when post is half of whats promised...
Love Love Love her my mom was so mad when I went "out" with friends in HS and saw here live, we were a little young she thought, LOL when Janis died my boyfriend, a total Janis lovr left and hitchhiked to Texas and stayed with Janis' Mother, no kidding, but that was the 70s and we had alot less rules and more fun and lived more than anyone is able to these days and no not everyone took drugs. We lived, loved and they years past and Iwouldn't trade those memories for anything.
I connected with Janis when I was living in the streets as a teen.. she was so incredible.. she offered me some of her special drink... you can read about it on my blog:
The soul that comes out of her is so powerful.WE need that now most show their body so much that all they do is put alot of glitter and music so loud that you can't tell if they can sing or not but, most will still buy it because most kids go crazy over it because their outfit is cool.I would love to hear good music again.
@rustydog1236 "I should not listen to this song as I work as it is hard to see the numbers on the invoices I am processing through the tears." Aw bless. (<-in a nonreligious way...I hear old Brit ladies say it :)) Thanks for posting. I could picture it/relate (w/19 clicks(at moment)that's obviously "we" not "I") Me personally, I am a sap, for lack of better words. A lot of stuff makes me cry. But in a good way, like a "my heart esploded" way. ex: Janis had made me cry about 3 times today. :)
she was completely drunk and drugged, but his music has soul even in this state, is the difference between the artist today, today play to earn money not to show what they feel ...
"Freedom's just another word..." means you have lost everything of value to you. You are free to move on whether that was your game plan or not, and you have no choice. You have no freedom to choose - it's just what comes up next.
ok good ho yeah Janis Choplin. et ok Pink chante bien et elle dit PINK QUE jANIS CHOPLIN EST EST SON HÉROS CELA EST BIEN CAR ELLE LA fait revivre la chanteuse Janis CHOPLIN HIT GOOD MERCI A TOI PINK DE NS FAIRE REVENIRE UJSTE QUE DE BON SOUVENIRE...))))
She was a great singer, but her life on drugs should be a warning to anyone who thinks a drugged life is a good one. RIP Janis. May you, Jimi, and all the others who died via drug overdoses help others to not go that way.
Well that would be because you are a necropheliac... most necros like em still warm, but I think you would be lucky just to find any meat on them bones!
es impresionante ver una presentacion de tal naturaleza, donde una gran interprete como janis, hace aflorar toda una cauda de profundos sentimientos por medio de su muy emotivo .canto
@catindarkkness i just wanted to let you know so no rude asses will start anything with you....you say "her" instead of "she" in that last sentence :)
@catindarkkness why are you being rude? i was trying to be nice and let you know so somebody else wouldnt say something mean about it. you know what just forget im sorry i bothered you.
OK truly Janis is completely HIGH JACKED in this rendition....and the tag of the video announcing her death is NO excuse. Total abuse of her artistic talent. You should be ashamed....
@dbrinkmans thank you for comment! for us was an stupid, unexpected death, but it seem... was a long time ... but anyone could not see and help she??!! Well, she was a pearl!!! from many, many ears i try to find she, but rely, i was disappointed!! Yes, she remind a value !!
I love you Janis...since I was 13...im almost f@cking 50! 35 years thats a lot of LPs CDs & cassettes over the years. I hope your money was well spent. I'm glad your estate finally hired a representative so we can finally hear your unreleased songs, over 40 years after you left...
Glad to find this and to hear her singing so beautifully. I like it that there is a live version of this gem and it adds to the best known version. Both are wonderfull(sp?). Thank you!!!!
My mom (RIP) appreciated great music and I listented to and loved all her great music as a kid. She took me to many concerts. I love great music from any era. Just seems there's less of it now. I'm just glad that Janis was. I feel the same way about Kurt Cobain. Most ppl weren't exposed to the lifestyle I was as a kid. Young ppl believed drugs were good and didn't want to end up like their parents. Janis was from Texas like me and most adults in the 60's despised the 'hippies: mom went up north.
Janis told it like it was. She held nothing back. She was a fantastic artist. Sure a lot of people don't or didn't like her, but more did than didn't. We lost a lot of good people in those days, from the jungles of Vietnam, to the streets of San Francisco. God rest your soles, Peace and love to all.

Great sing, Great singer and Great film clip. But please don't take liberty's and post as a live song when its not the video for it. Or state 'live song with unrelated video ' so we know what we are going to look at. With regards to Janis, I would look at a blank screen just to hear her voice. Upset when post is half of whats promised...

this is a total fuckup! i agree this looks like "cry baby"
there is no fucking reason to submit such crap!

I wish she lived longer.
dakiniverona 7 months ago
The soul that comes out of her is so powerful.WE need that now most show their body so much that all they do is put alot of glitter and music so loud that you can't tell if they can sing or not but, most will still buy it because most kids go crazy over it because their outfit is cool.I would love to hear good music again.

The little town of Beaumont Teas produced both her & George Jones. Must be something in the water. That's a boatload of talent for one small town.
tswinburn1 7 months ago
@tswinburn1 actually Janis was born in Port Arthur, Texas and George was from Vidor, Texas. Close but definitely NOT Beaumont.

I should not listen to this song as I work as it is hard to see the numbers on the invoices I am processing through the tears.
rustydog1236 7 months ago 25

Also, nothing means nothing but it's free.

"Freedom's just another word..." means you have lost everything of value to you. You are free to move on whether that was your game plan or not, and you have no choice. You have no freedom to choose - it's just what comes up next.

My mother is a very big van of Janis Joplin she loves her an all her music

Probably the reason that she stated that the song had been written by Kris Kristofferson was that at the time they were dating each other.

She was a great singer, but her life on drugs should be a warning to anyone who thinks a drugged life is a good one. RIP Janis. May you, Jimi, and all the others who died via drug overdoses help others to not go that way.

Janis was from Texas like me and most adults in the 60's despised the 'hippies: mom went up north.
pipeliner226 11 months ago
Janis told it like it was. She held nothing back. She was a fantastic artist. Sure a lot of people don't or didn't like her, but more did than didn't. We lost a lot of good people in those days, from the jungles of Vietnam, to the streets of San Francisco. God rest your soles, Peace and love to all.
