~Memory..is all we have once we lose grip of reality..that I'm sure everyone has gone through at one point in their life..that helps us keep going..maybe what keeps us living.
This is such a sad and beautiful song and really touches my heart because it describes my husband's life in such an intimate way. We separated a few months ago because of his drinking and I know that he wants to die just like this... Thank you for these beautiful words, and for the beautiful melody that carries them.
nothing is worse than seeing the pain in the eyes of someone you love.. knowing they want to help you but you make excuses and justify yourself, knowing deep down it's a lie.. you try and fight your demons but the fear of knowing your going to stumble and fall outweighs the good... but no pain lasts forever! you have to fight to find your back.. find the person you were in your innocence beacuse at the end of the day that's the person you've always been...
Thank You MUCH for Your comment....YOU`re soo right on !
I`ve been there myself, someone dear to me was an addict,....-finally managed to break free by her own strength of will, but not before hurting herself, me and others close to her....She`s still doing o.k., thank G-D & herself, -though it isn`t easy for her.....is it supposed to be..? -I don`t think so !
This is filled with such emotion... it makes you sad, but you can't help but love it... and you almost feel bad when you feel good for hearing it, because it's just so powerful.
i think it is but i think most of is about like influence of others an stuff. the only love part is when she says i still see that guy in my memmory but thats it. i agreepartialy.
@aprilmka I think it is actually a song about really having a tough time in life, and doing the best you can. Certainly abusing alcohol, but I dont think the booze is the point, myself.
This is a true love song, Liz is a real gift, nothing contrived, there is a genuine spirit of love in her........I believe that is why she is so special to us all,......
This. is. so. sad. T_T Beautiful song but really depressing lyrics.

I'm a recovering addict/alcoholic and--five years into sobriety and six years after this record--it still gives me shivers (though, not shakes).

She is telling a very descriptive life of drinking....I am a recovered alcoholic and this song couldn't be any closer to the tragedy of this.

This is a great song, but it makes me sad. It reminds me of my mom.

Uh, I don't think this is a love song; I think it's about being an alcoholic.

can anyone tell me if this is autobiographical for Liz....
bowlhogs07 3 years ago
Read somewhere that is about her brother, who apparently had a problem with alcohol at some point in his life.
TKL90266 3 years ago 2
Usually not. Liz ran out of interesting things in her own life to write about a while ago.
Probably a healthier way to live, but not so interesting.
